I recently had a crazy experience. I hadn't talked to one of my friends for 3 years because we had a series of harsh arguments. After the last argument, we had a falling out and we totally cut off communication from each other. Then, a couple of weeks ago I heard the news that my friend got hit by a car. I started crying uncontrollably, but then knew it was the right thing to go support him. After I calmed myself down I went to the hospital to see him. Turns out my friend is going to be fine and he's at home recovering right now. Everything is also fine between us, and we're reconciling and letting the past be the past. What happened between us doesn't matter now. If you've managed to reconcile with a friend after a falling out, how long did you not go talking to them? I had another falling out with a friend a couple of years ago, maybe I should reconnect with him.

I try not to hold grudges and the following year I wish them a happy birthday. But….if after 3 or 4 years the same thing goes on and they never give me a call, I just stop acknowledging their birthday. If someone can’t do something as simple as making a phone call and saying the two words: “Happy Birthday”, then that means you are not even worth the time. If they can’t even spend two minutes on the phone, then that means you don’t mean anything to them. It’s simple.
