Whats The Best Wats To Get Into Studying History

What is the best way to study history for exams?

History is alleged to be the most boring subject. Rather an understandable reasoning considering the way we are taught. But, in my opinion, its fairly interesting if you spend some time on it.Before dwelling on how to study, it is important to know why we study. Why do we study history? Some of the answers of the above Quora link will give you a comprehensive understanding of that. Basically, experience is important, and History teaches us the mistakes and achievements of our ancestors.History can be studied interestingly, by thinking of it as a story. We can connect most of the incidents with the present. I have found that in higher classes dates are of less importance, but the period in which the event taken place is important. NAMES are the most important part of History. You can treat them as the characters of this elaborate story.Always keep a notepad or something similar to jot down important points as you seem fit.Remember not to memorize, or mug up. Try to form a connection with each incident. The connection is easy to form in the case of many events. One event will be the cause of another, and then that may lead to another. This is the best method.Above all don’t consider it as a burden.

What is the best way to start studying history?

Do you want to study history as a professional? or as a hobbyist? In case of the first I'd suggest you to enroll at a university with a well-recognized  research active history department - from there on it should be pretty straight forward as a wide selection of methodology and content will be presented to you.As a hobbyist your approach will likely be less academic as its not really necessary. Overview is key - without understanding the context history is tricky! Start of reading some well renowned overview history books on World, European, Asian and Antique history. Then start reading about your favorite historic period, war or event. Read different sources from all the main stakeholders and continuously question the motives of the particular source. You'll find when studying history that one subject will effortlessly lead you to the next. Before you know it you'll be reading about other subjects than what you originally set out to. For example; Understanding causes of WW2 is impossible without a great understanding of the almost enigmatic WW1. In depth understanding of WW1 is impossible without knowing a bit about the European situation in the late 1800's and particularly the French-German war of 1870-1 etc.Good luck

what is the best way to study something like history?

How should I study for an AP World History test??

It is a little late if it is tomorrow and you are in a panic. One needs to study as you go, take notes, ask the teacher what is most important to know. Meet people for study groups, and ask other in class what they think will be most important on the test.

If it is multiple choice questions, always go with your first gut answer, don't second guess your self unless you look over the test and realize that you answered it wrong.

If it is essay... either read over the whole chapter, and take notes or out line the chapter and highlight the things you think are most important to remember and memorize those...but you will need to stay up all night...or just drop it and start studying now the right way for the next test.

What is the best way to study history as fast as possible?

History should be understood as His Story — that is, the story of man. Now, if you want to study history for the purpose of getting marks, as it seems, just buy a reference book that contains questions and answers from the past years as well as extras. Read only the short answers first, then the lengthier ones. Repeat it twice or thrice and you’ll get the gist of it..then you can vomit it all up in your exam, forget about it and you’ll pass. This is what most History students do..due to lack of time or interest or both. But let me tell you..History is a wonderful subject. It not only tells you about your past but also about the mistakes we can commit, what we should do and what we shouldn’t, what all we can achieve with just a little inspiration, how great can one become if he truly wishes… how people can remember some names even after thousand of years.By History, I don’t mean the edited version being taught in schools and universities(Indian) these days. It is important too, if only to understand where it gets it all wrong. But real history has to be researched. It is not always documented but many a times only spoken because written records can be trifled with (As they say, history is written by the victors) but oral records can’t. Had it not been for the Legend of Prithviraj Chauhan, being told by centuries in rajasthani folk songs, we would have believed that Prithviraj was killed by Ghouri. That’s why I would like to advise you not to take the easy route and try to learn something ‘as fast as possible’. Do it at your own pace and you’ll be rewarded, I assure you.

What are the problems in studying history?

Those who teach it are usually really boring.

How can I start studying history on my own? Any Ideas?

After my retirement, I asked the very same question of myself! I had the advantage of knowing specifically what I wanted to study and research, and, of course, being older than dirt, plenty of time to pursue my interests. (American history 1700-1810) Not knowing what your specific interests are,it is difficult to point you in the right direction. You should focus your field to an era or event. One cannot study "history" productively, there's just too bloody much of it! A word of encouragement: there is great joy and contentment in the consideration of any historical event, the people, the environment, how our ancestors wrote, what they cared about, their cultural imperatives. I have found it a really great adventure with enormous satisfaction.

Welcome to my world, brother amateur historian!

Best way to study for an AP European History exam?

all right I'm taking it Friday too and I'm a bit stressed.

if your teacher sucks or if they don't really realize how difficult ap is then here's what you have to do on your own.

1. buy a prep book NOW if you don't have one(i recommend the Peterson's AP book) read and highlight chapters like i did

2. get the "big picture" of history. in other words, understand whats going on that's IMPORTANT in each century and how it leads into the next century. (ex. enlightenment lead to french revolution)

3. do a practice DBQ if u haven't yet. our class did 3 and i still don't feel ready. u might be a bit relaxed if you get a feel of a DBQ

4. take a practice test (time yourself!)

5.get with friends in the class and just start asking common questions about AP Euro (ex. who unified Italy in 19th century?) answer: Cavour

6. Don't cram but rest the night before and have confidence that you WILL pass! (that's what I'm gonna do)

If you follow this you most likely will be fine (by the way i should follow these steps too lol)

Good luck and don't think it's impossible. We can do it!
