Why do people call it the fall finale on TV shows?
It’s called the fall finale because that episode will be the final episode played during that physical year (Jan-Dec). Also called mid-season finales, these episodes leave you with a cliffhanger and entice you to watch the next season. Most shows usually start up again in January or February of the next year, picking up where they left off.A series refers to the show itself, the entire show. A season refers to only one year’s worth that specific show’s telly runs. Like how your education refers to your entire time spent in school, but grade 12 refers to only one year of that entire education. Also, most TV shows run on what’s sometimes called the A/B schedule. This means that all episodes of a season before the mid-season finale are part of series X A, and anything after the mid-season finale is season X B. For example, How To Get Away With Murder’s season 3A just wrapped with its mid-season finale a few weeks ago. Season 3 returns with what’s called “season 3B” on January 19th. This won’t be called season four, just season 3B

Why is the British TV series "Skins" called "Skins?"
The first reason, as the others said before, is that here "skin" means the paper used to roll cigarettes, a clear reference to the lifestyle of the main characters. However, it is more than that:[Alert:Spoiler Ahead]At the end of the final episode of the show, the character James Cook, after escaping from a chase in which he lost his girlfriend, starts walking towards the horizon and we hear his voice saying:You think you know death, but you don't, not until you've seen it, really seen it... And it gets under your skin and lives inside you.You also think you know life, stand on the edge of things and what you go by but you're not living it, not really, you're just a tourist, a ghost, then you see it, really see it, it gets under your skin and lives inside you, and there's no escape, there's nothing to be done, and you know what? it's good, it's a good thing. And that’s all I’ve got to say about it.And that's it: "Skin" is a metaphor for all of us. We, characters and spectators, are all like skins, shells, under which life and death coexist in all its truth and intensity. And that is the show's message and the reason it is called “Skins”Oh, and if you want you can watch that scene here:
