When And If The Evidence Is Presented That Bowe Bergdahl Deserted His Post Will He Face

What evidence is there that Bowe Bergdahl deserted his post?

An article reported by a member of Bergdahl's unit leaves little room for interpretation. On the night prior to his capture, Bergdahl pulled guard duty at OP Mest, a small outpost about two hours south of the provincial capitol. The base resembled a wagon circle of armored vehicles with some razor wire strung around them. A guard tower sat high up on a nearby hill, but the outpost itself was no fortress. Besides the tower, the only hard structure that I saw in July 2009 was a plywood shed filled with bottled water. Soldiers either slept in poncho tents or inside their vehicles. The next morning, Bergdahl failed to show for the morning roll call. The soldiers in 2nd Platoon, Blackfoot Company discovered his rifle, helmet, body armor and web gear in a neat stack. He had, however, taken his compass. His fellow soldiers later mentioned his stated desire to walk from Afghanistan to India. The Daily Beast’s Christopher Dickey later wrote that "[w]hether Bergdahl…just walked away from his base or was lagging behind on a patrol at the time of his capture remains an open and fiercely debated question.” Not to me and the members of my unit. Make no mistake: Bergdahl did not "lag behind on a patrol,” as was cited in news reports at the time. There was no patrol that night. Bergdahl was relieved from guard duty, and instead of going to sleep, he fled the outpost on foot. He deserted. I’ve talked to members of Bergdahl’s platoon—including the last Americans to see him before his capture. I’ve reviewed the relevant documents. That’s what happened. We Lost Soldiers in the Hunt for Bergdahl, a Guy Who Walked Off in the Dead of Night

Bowe Berghahl deserted his post.?

Why did the Army risk troop to try and rescue him? Bowe claimed he was tryimg to blow the whistle, so was the military trying to get him before he could tell anyone what was up? Deserters become an enemy, so why would you haphazardly send troops in with barely 48 hours to prepare, ot seems a reckless endangerment to our troops.

How will Sgt.Bowe Bergdahl be treated by others when he finally leaves the hospital in Texas?

According to the former members of his own unit, Bergdahl was an anti-American deserter and possibly even a traitor. Therefore, how he is treated will depend on whether the people around him believe or disbelieve the accusations against him, until such time as an investigation is performed that definitively settles the matter. But since the Obama administration is unlikely to permit such an investigation, the accusations will never be resolved and will likely hang over Bergdahl for the rest of his life.I would not be surprised if Bergdahl decided to change his name in a few years.

If Bowe Bergdahl deserted, was it justified to do a prisoner swap to free him from the Taliban?

If Bergdahl were a Tea Party Republican, right wing media would say he had PTSD for some reason that is liberals' fault, was caught outside the stockade by some accident, and condemn the Obama administration for not freeing him or for doing it wrong. As Bergdahl is known to have had some doubts about the war at some points, instead they portray him as a liberal who deserted out of disloyalty and/or weakness, and keep talking about him to keep associating liberals with disloyalty and weakness.America has been too focused for decades on rescuing POWs regardless of cost since making POWs a popular issue to distract from Vietnam. But if you really need to compare different POWs, I'd just say Bergdahl has had some issues and erratic behavior which is sadly not that rare among vets. The Taliban who were released were former officials like provincial governors, and releasing them is probably a net gain independent of whether they were traded for anything.

Was Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl a traitor/deserter?

Give me the entire back down on the situation.

I saw on a you tube video he was saying the US should not be in Afghanistan. While I agree with that is that against the military code of conduct?

The judge ruled Bowe Bergdahl will face no prison time. He gets a dishonorable discharge. Do you support that decision?

A2A. After considering from several angles, I can’t say I “support” that decision. I can say that I can live with it.Here’s why -He didn’t get off from undue political influence or a technicality. The military court made the decision based on their rules. He did not escape punishment. Captured for almost 5 years, $10,000 fine, reduced to E-1 rank, Dishonorable discharge. He was young and under extreme stress when the event took place. I believe in second chances, especially at that age.He showed remorse before the court and his platoon mates determined that it was sincere.Further, I look the the reaction from President Trump and consider his past comments on Bergdahl.Today (11/3) - This decision is a “complete and total disgrace” to our country and the military.Oct. 15, 2015 - Bergdahl should be “shot or dropped from an airplane”.Nov. 9, 2015 - We “should execute Bergdahl”What does Trump’s input have to do with it, you might ask. Well, I always like to go big picture, versus fragments. So it’s like this:Here’s Trump telling us how we should think, again… again…againAnd on what matters? Legal and military. What in Hell’s name qualifies him to be an expert on either?A man who has been sued more times than you can count.A man who has had 2 of his campaign operatives arrested.A man who bone-spurred his way out of military service. The big picture back in play. Who do I feel has the greatest potential to do harm to the country in a selfish and traitorous way…Trump vs. Bergdahl?Hands down - Trump. While the actions of Bergdahl caused the deaths of fellow soldiers, I contend that the haphazard actions of Trump could cause infinitely more lives and damage to the country. On first take, the court decision seems flawed. On further consideration, justified. For better or worse, that is my answer.Chicken hawk Trump demonstrating how he would shoot Bergdahl. Thanks J.C. Mitchell.

Are Bowe Bergdahl's parents far leftists?

No, they are not.  Also, how they raised him probably played a factor in his actions, HOWEVER, and this is a big however, we do not know his actions, thoughts, or intentions, and it would be wrong of us to judge him.  We must also remember that war is messy, and despite his upbringing, and training by the Army (who is responsible for shaping your actions in circumstances), the realities of being there are very different from how we would like to believe we would act. There is also the fact that obedience to orders and so forth is a requirement of the military, but not necessarily the moral, ethical, or legal thing to do, and congress, as well as the military justice system has repeatedly asserted in hundreds of cases since WWII and Vietnam that a soldier has the right and duty to conscientiously object and refuse to carry out orders or act in a manner inconsistent with international laws of war, participate in crimes against humanity, or engage in activities they find unconscionable.   So, in summary, his parents are not "far left" by any means at all. Did they influence him as they raised him? Certainly, but so did the Army, and the U.S. government, culture, educational, and civil system. Ultimately he was responsible for his own actions if he was aware of them, but we do not know what those actions are, why they were made, or if they are justified. To add my own opinion in here. Personally, I think he buckled under the stress and walked off without any clear conscious thought or plan as to what he was going to do or what the consequences would be, like people in duress sometimes do.  Maybe it wasn't very honorable, but it also wasn't malicious, and either way, I would consider having been a prisoner of war in Taliban hands, beaten, starved, and getting mind-fucked for five years to be more punishment than most of us could endure. Even if he really was a coward, I'd say time served.

Was Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl ever charged?

Yes, he was charged with desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. On December 14, 2015, the U.S. Army charged Bergdahl with the above specifications. On October 16, 2017, he entered a guilty plea before a military judge at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. On November 3, 2017, Bergdahl was sentenced to be dishonorably discharged, reduced in rank to private, and fined $1,000 per month from his pay for ten months, with no prison time. The fine and reduction in rank took effect immediately, and the discharge was stayed pending automatic appeal
