When Do Thre Chemicals In Hair Dye Become Unharmful

How do hair dye chemicals get in your system?

How do the chemicals in hair dye get into your system and how dangerous is it? Does it have to be through skin contact (like scalp) or if you only put it on the ends of your hair will it still get into your system somehow? More specifically if I just put toner on the ends of my hair would that be harmful to my body? The reason I'm asking is because I had an allergic reaction to loreal hair color (skin rash) and I didn't get the color I wanted (needs toning) if I go to an aveda salon and get it toned would that be okay?

Is bleaching your hair harmful, do chemicals get absorbed into your brain?

For the damage of bleach: hair: probably; Skin: maybe; and brain: Absolutely not. Your brain has this big blood/bone barrier between it and the outside world. your skull keeps your brain very well protected and even your body systems keep the all important brain very well isolated from everything else going on in your body. Very little from the outside world can get into your skull. For hair dye to get to the brain it would need to dissolve the bone of your skull, and it would seriously burn your skin before that and before that the second your skin starts burning you would rinse off the bleach and call a doctor.

Is bleaching harmful to skin?

Hello.Every bleaching product contains two main chemicals, Hydroquinone and mercury, both are toxic. Hydroquinone is a chemical used for photo processing and hair dyes. Mercury is a carcinogen. These products both work in the short term to lighten the skin by stopping the production of melanin in the body. The more melanin you have in your body, the darker your skin.Doctors suggest that the two toxic chemicals, Hydroquinone and mercury, react with ultraviolet rays and lead to more pigmentation and premature aging. The more this product is used, the less melanin the body produces, and this leads to an increased risk for skin cancer. Also, continued use of hydroquinone, will roughen the skin, making it look like an uneven patch of colors with a spotted appearance.People who bleach their skin to lighten their skin tone are believed to silently suffer from low self-esteem. Before attempting to use skin-whitening products, we suggest you to ask yourself if it is worth the risk! You could follow us on Quora for more health updates.

How bad is hair dye for your hair?

There are a few key things that will help determine how damaging the color will be for your hair.First off is how far of a jump you want to make and in which direction.  The further you go from your natural, the more damage you incur.  Also, people who are trying to go lighter will, by nature, be damaging their hair more.  In order to lighten a hair strand, the color has to open the cuticle (the outer part of the hair strand) and pull color out.  If you are going darker, the cuticle is opened and color is put in.Secondly is the speed at which the product says it will do the job.  The shorter the processing time (the about of time the color stays on your head), the more damage you will have.  This happens because instead of slowly prying that cuticle open and depositing/removing color and then slowly putting the cuticle down, faster colors blast your cuticle open.  Many times they don't close your cuticle down either, which allows the color and moisture to seep out over time.Last is the price of the product.  With hair color, you almost always get what you pay for.  Cheap colors are so because they utilize less pigment, are harsher on your strands, and are often lacking rebuilding agents.  A lot of times, these will be quicker processing colors as well.  More expensive lines will use appropriate pigment amounts, contain proteins and moisture to help keep your hair healthy, and are typically more gentle since they do their work slowly and steadily. There are other factors as well, but these are in my opinion, the major three.  In order to repair the damage, I would recommend a professional-strength treatment done immediately after your color at the salon.  There are over-the-counter treatments available at Sally's Beauty Supply and other public beauty supply places as well, but they won't be near as potent (and therefore, repairing) as the ones your stylist will have available.Hope that helps!

How bad are hair dyes for the environment?

It depends whats in the hair dye, although most likely there is ammonia and other harmful chemicals present. You ask how bad it is, well you are 1 in a 7 billion and it sure doesn't help that a lot of us are sending harmful chemicals down the drain. So, sure if you were the only person in your city dying your hair it wouldn't be an issue, but you aren't, there are millions of Americans just waiting to send down a different color full of toxic chemicals.

In short, YES it is really bad for the environment because everyone is sending down toxic shampoos, conditioners, plastics, cleaners, hair dyes, etc.

One thing you have to consider is that those chemicals are not being removed at the wastewater treatment plant. No, no they are just flowing downstream to the next town where hopefully there is enough filtration that will remove them before someone else drinks it, but it just depends. Also keep in mind that those toxins are affecting the fish and wildlife in between and eventually it may just be pouring into the ocean.

Since you are already mindful and asking questions, take a leap and look for organic items, that way you can be a part of the solution rather than the problem. I'm not saying organics are always the solution, but in the case of hair dyes it is a lot safer than the chemicals.

Because many people have allergies to harmful chemicals these organic dyes do exist and are becoming more popular. I sited some sources below that can help you find some killer products without being a killer yourself. Happy hunting and if this doesn't give you anything check your nearest Whole Foods/Vitamin Cottage/Hippie Shop and I'm sure they sell something better than the toxic stuff, but check the label all the same, don't trust it just because some hippie shop is selling it. Always be cautious and ask lots of questions.

What are the side effects of using loreal hair colour?

Being a user of Loreal Hair Color for the last 8 months, my mother had developed severe allergies. After using the hair dye, she usually faced a constant itching issue. Often she also used to get red sores on her forehead. These issues finally made me go to a doctor and consult a dermatologists’ opinion for the same. She was the first person who guided me about the dangerous chemical PPD in the hair dye. Even Loreal professional hair dyes contain this shocking chemical.Loreal hair dyes have also caused deaths of several women as reported by daily International journals. Hairfall, premature graying of hair, swelling of forehead, red patches, itching etc. have been the common effects of using this hair dye.I finally made my mom switch over to Indus Valley Natural Hair Color that has been suggested by the doctor. This hair color has no dangerous chemicals like these and is also enriched by the goodness of herbs like Amla, Honey, sunflower etc. It’s more than three months my mom has been using this hair color and indeed it has shown no side-effects till now.
