When Does Ny Highschool Freshmen Get Out Of School

What happens when you fail a class in high school?

I’m going anonymous in case my teacher sees this.I have failed an English class in Grade 9. The reason why I failed because I was stressing about the medical procedure I was going through in a few months. I forgot to read my book for the quizes, thus I failed most of them. We had to write an essay. I failed it. There were very few things that I got a B on. She emailed me saying that maybe it would be more helpful if I repeat the class next year, because I’d be more focused. I got lucky, because I would have to stay home for a few months after my procedure, so I didn’t repeat the course. I did have to do credit recovery. So the reason I failed wasn’t because I didn’t know the material, it was because I forgot to study (and also failed almost every assignment as a result) because of my circumstance. You would probably have to repeat the course next year. You can either do your grade level course the semester after your previous one, or you can do summer school. Also, you can be a grade behind in the course if you take it the year after you were supposed to.

I failed my first semester of freshman year in high school, do I have a chance at going to a very good school?

If you failed your first semester, then did your best on the second semester, you would only ever get an AVERAGE mark.

If I got a F at first, then an A, I would get a total of around C, which would only get me into C-ranking universities.

Now stanford and NYU are pretty high up there I think (I am British so I wouldnt know as much) But you would need Mostly A's... hardly any B's and at least 80% of the points in the IB classes. I'm sorry but you probably won't get into a 'very good school' so try to pick a range of good to medium to low end schools... just to make sure you get into at least one.

There is no time to be depressed. Your university years are going to have an impact on the REST of your life... job... career... marriage!

Get good marks, get the degree - then you have all the time in the world to be depressed.

I am an ex-depressive, but my chinese parent's were really tough on me and pretty much beat me up to work hard.... I have noticed it's only WESTERN kids that get 'depression' and bad marks.

When you are studying hard and under pressure, you don't even have time to be depressed man!!

From which grade does high school start in the US?

High school usually begins in the 9th grade. Also known as freshmen, this grade consists of teens around the ages of 13 - 15 years old.High school in the United States can also begin in the 10th grade. Another name for 10th graders are sophomores, and consists of teens around the ages of 14 - 16 years old.It just depends on the schools in the area. How to prepare for High School?

So you're starting high school. New school, new people; here's some tips on making the adjustment a lot easier on yourself.

First off, be yourself, it might be hard but don't let people change who you are no matter what. Don't talk crap to anyone, being as though most everyone will be bigger, stronger, smarter and not intimidated by you. Keep stuff to yourself if you don't want to fight anyone and end up suspended. Use your locker; it's there for a reason. Carrying all your books around is more reason for anyone to mess with you, it's also very unnecessary. If you're ever lost, which you might be the first few days, don't act like it. This means don't walk around with a map of the school, this is freshman don'ts 101 and will commence ridicule and/or swirly, garbage can stuffing. You'll have a lot of freedom but figure out what rules you can break and which ones you better follow for a while.

You should probably get active, get involved in some sports or at least some clubs and start making loads of friends, you'll be glad you did in a few years. If your teacher doesn't assign seats, I always sat towards the side in the middle. Perfect place to blend in, your not right in front of the teacher or in the back to be picked on or not pay attention. Get some good grades and don't slack off to early, you'll have plenty of time for that when you're a senior. So make your friends, don't try and act better than someone, because they are probably better than you. I wouldn't recommend getting in a fight unless you know you'll win, otherwise you'll just become laughing stock.

When it comes to teachers, don't back talk them and do your work. You'll get on their good side and eventually get some leniency with them. Of course if you just do well in their class they should like you no matter what. When you're picking your classes, don't take something because your friends are, there is a good change they have no idea what they are doing and end up with a super hard class. Try and talk to someone who's had it before and ask them if it's easy. Basically just have fun. It may not feel like it goes by fast when you start out, but in a few years it'll have flown by.

I started high school at age 12.What age do American children start?

American children usually go to Kindergarten around age 5*. A "pre-K" year is also fashionable in some parts of the country.Elementary School consists of grades 1 through grade 5 or 6, depending on the school district. In my children's district it is through grade 5, where I grew up it is through grade 6. This is roughly from age 6 to age 11.Junior High School is typically grades 7 and 8 only, while Middle School generally includes grades 6, 7 and 8.High School begins with grade 9 ("Freshman year"), and includes grade 10 ("Sophomore year"), grade 11 ("Junior year"), and grade 12 ("Senior year"). Most high school students are 13 or 14 years old when they start, and are 17 or 18 years old when they graduate. It is also not uncommon for someone to skip a grade. For example, one of my best friends skipped 5th grade. His birthday is in December, and he had been one of the oldest kids in his grade. He was very bright, so they advanced him from 4th grade directly to 6th grade, where he was now one of the youngest kids in the class. My dad didn't skip any grades, but still graduated from high school at age 16. It just goes to show you how variable the system can be.___*The exact age of the child depends on when his/her birthday falls. School starts in August or September and runs through May or June. Different local school districts have slightly different schedules, and the ages are not mandated by state law in California.
