When Is The Deadline To Qualifty For The 2016 Olympic Trials

Depends on the sport. Racing sports like swimming, running, cycling have a certain time you have to get to participate in trials. Otherwise for team sports like basketball, volleyball, soccer you usually have to be a pro then get scouted.

How does one qualify for the U.S. Olympic track team?

Well first you have to compete. You have to come close to or eclipse a qualifying standard and compete at the US Olympic Trials. If you place in the top 3 at the trials AND you exceed the qualifying standards you will be on the Olympic team. Both must be achieved or you will not go to the Olympics. If you place 4th at the trials, but you made the standard earlier in the season and one of the competitors in the top 3 do not make the qualifying standard you will be tagged to go to the Olympics. This is a sample of A and B standards for the World Championships in 2011 via Flotrack.org.IAAF 2016 Rio Olympic Games Standardshttp://file:///C:/Users/Sydney/Downloads/Rio%202016%20Olympic%20Games%20entry%20standards.pdf The first 20 runners in the Men’s Marathon and in the Women’s Marathon in the IAAF World Championships Beijing 2015 and the top 10 finishers at the IAAF Gold Label Marathons in 2015 and 2016 (held during the qualification period) will also be considered as having achieved the entry standard. What is required for getting trails for 100m (men) for qualifying round in Olympics 2016 ?

100m in 10.16 is a top notch performance. You don't need recommendation of any authority as far as I know. You however need to participate in athletic meets like the Nationals (Open) so that atleast those who select national team get to know you. You won't qualify for Rio anyway. The selection process is not dependent on National Associations but is done in Internationally recognized Athletic Meets. But if you run in the time you say you do, do apply for Open Nationals, this is a superb time.Kindly tell me your age, and whether the timing for 100m was taken manually or automatically. If you want to maintain your anonymity, message me the details on quora.Just by the way, India’s National Record for a 100m is 10.30s. So I believe your timings were taken manually and is subject to errors, hence won't be recognized anywhere.EditIt’s my fault to assume you to be an Indian.

(I dont think I could make it).

Is the age of 16 Too old to be an Olympic Sprinter?

Some sports do have age restrictions but not track. If you are fast enough to win a birth in your country you can compete in the Olympics. First you have to be allowed to compete in your country and that usually involves winning meets at the junior level and moving on to senior level and winning meets and then trying out for the olympic trials.

16 is very young for a world class sprinter. Most sprinters are in their 20's or even 30's. I know Donavan Bailey was 27 when he won the 100 meters and set a world record in Atlanta. Carl Lewis competed into his 30's. Usain Bolt was 22 when he won his gold in 2008. As long as as your cou ntry chooses you and you can meet the qualifying time you can compete in the Olympics

What age do you start preparing for the Olympics?

Athletes start training around the age of 7 /8. First you have to qualify for the olympic trials and then from there- the olympics. I am a swimmer, aged 14. This year i was a second away from qualifying to the olympic trials so in four years time hopefully i will qualify. My ambition is to get to the olympics but so many people are out there. I train 20 hours a week, but i love swimming so i just make the most of it, have fun and work as hard as i can. I love watching swimming at the olympics because i can relate to it and its so inspiring. Other than that i love to watch the diving and gymnastics. :)

What is the qualifying time for the Olympics in the mile?

This is the qualifying times for the USA Olympic Qualifying Trials:There is no mile in the Olympics. The closet distance would be 1500 meters. All verified entries who have met the “Automatic” standard within the prescribed period and at a bona fide meet (see guidelines below), shall be qualified to participate in the U.S. Olympic Trials. Additional verified entries from the rank order list of those who have entered and declared shall be invited to participate in the Trials in order to fill the field in an event(s) where there are an insufficient number of athletes with the “Automatic” standard. An invitation will be extended to these additional persons based on verified entries in their performance rank order.Source: USA Track & Field - Qualifying StandardsThis is the qualifying times for the UK:Hope this helps.

I have four years to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Archery. What should I do?

My club has two archers planning on qualification for Rio. They are following two totally different routes. One is a member of the GB Squad and spends a lot of time being coached by some of the best archers in the world. The other is planning on qualifying for the African country in which he was born. He gets no financial support from anybody and his coaching is from other top-quality archers when they shoot together. He is at our field almost every day - shooting 90m for a few hours. What they have in common is dedication - lots and lots of it. Oh, and some inate talent.

Does Dean Karnazes have any chance at making the Olympic Marathon team?

I know he said he was going to participate in the trials, but does he really think he can make it on the team? Or is it a publicity stunt? I don't see how he could go from running 20 minute/miles for 100 miles to sub 5 minute/miles for 26.2. I guess if he did some serious speedwork beforehand, he may have a chance. I mean, I am certain his aerobic capacity is good from logging in those thousands upon thousands of miles. But could he get his speed and anaerboic threshold to a competitive level in time? What do you guys think?
