When Should I Take My 5 Month Old To The Hospital

My son has a 103.5 fever.. when should I take him to the hospital?

Honestly, these answers are all wrong. You should give your child acetaminophen, which you already did. Give it about 45 minutes to work. If it doesn't bring the fever down, you can give infant ibuprofen. This should definitely bring the fever down. You can alternate Tylenol/Tempra and ibuprofen, giving Tylenol every 4 hours and ibuprofen every 6 hours. These medications might not completely get rid of the fever, but the fever should come down some.

Keep your child cool and well hydrated. If your child becomes lethargic after medication, begins to have breathing problems, or becomes dehydrated then take him to the er. Otherwise all they will do is give your son some ibuprofen/Tylenol and send you home with the same instructions I just gave you.

An 8 month old's brain does not become damaged until the body reaches a temperature of 107 or 108, which occurs when a child is left in a hot car rather than from a fever. If the fever reaches 105 then an immediate trip to the er is necessary.

Can I have rabies if I am bitten by 5-6 month old pup?

Next time, skip the alcohol. Alcohol is not something you should apply to a wound. It is unlikely you will contract rabies from your puppy. Puppies bite, although by about 5-6 months, they should have developed a fair amount of bite inhibition, especially with regard to human skin. The only way a dog can get rabies is if it is bitten by an infected animal, so if you didn't witness any bite or altercation with a wild animal, your pup isn't likely to have rabies, especially if you have not observed any unusual behavior.

My 4 month old has 104.5 rectal temp, HELP???

My 4 month old is 16 lbs w/ 104.5 rectal temp. I gave him .04 of tylen. this is his 4th day w/ fever. each day it seems to get higher! He's conjested, lethargic and seems to have a sore throat. (hard time swollowing, crying, coughing) I took him to ER last night, where I was told to only give him tylenol once a day as it will make him more sick in the long run and his body wont fight infection. Is this true? My son seems misrable and sometimes almost lifeless.....Can anyone help me, with some kind of answer? I have paged his doctor 3 times with no responce! I do not want to go back down to ER it is truly not necesarry and I am just an overly conerned mom?!??!!

5 month old's fever is 105.5 F!?

Take him and put him in a tub full of lukewarm water. Give him tylenol or motrin. Put a cold compress on his head and call the doctor. As soon as the fever goes down, even a degree, go back to the ER and DEMAND someone do something. This is ridiculous. Infants can handle higher temps than adults can, but with a temperature this high he could go into a seizure, so be prepared just in case. It's the body's way of reducing the fever on it's own. There's some kind of major infection going on here, and he needs medication. I hope he feels better soon.

edit: I had a doctor tell me that at the ER once as well about the fever. He told me that the worst that would happen is that she would go into a seizure, and the fever would break. Now I understand that medically, but who wants to see their child have a seizure? Tylenol will only mask a fever temporarily...it won't get rid of it. The infection causing the fever needs to be tended to. Either way this means he needs to be seen again. If that means not giving him tylenol so they can see how high his temp is, do it. That baby needs antibiotics or something!! Go back to the hospital...go to an urgent care...do whatever you have to do.

Can i give my 5 month old pedialyte?

You can give her pedialyte, and instead of putting in a bottle, I'd put it in a cup, and hold the cup so that she can just sip it a little while you hold her up. You can also put it in her bottle if she will drink it, but pedialyte doesn't taste that good. If she won't drink it, use water, as long as you can get some fluid in her until you can get her to the doctor. If she still has a fever and hasn't kept down infant tylenol, I'd do a lukewarm sponge bath, and make sure that you dress her in light clothing so that she doesn't get to hot. Best wishes. Praying she is better soon!

My 5 month old is sick she has a runny nose & cough. Should I take her to the hospital? No fever yet?

All babies get colds, runny nose, cough even fevers. It just comes with the territory. I wouldn't be worried about the runny nose and I only worry about a cough if it sounds like a bark, it is non-stop or it is accompanied by wheezing. It they have a bark like cough call your doctor. Wheezing ER. If your baby comes down with a fever call your doctor. Your doctor will tell you what to do or if your doctor is not available maybe a clinic for a cold but I wouldn't go to the ER. Try a humidifier to keep the air moist, infant tylenol to keep them comfortable, try to give them whatever comforts them the most, a bulb syringe to help clean out their nose. Also you can try baby vicks vapor rub, put it on the bottom of their feet and cover it with socks, sounds weird I know but my Dr told me that the feet absorb things really well and it has always worked for us. Poor baby I hope you kiddo feels better soon.

My 5 month old has a bad cold?

Time to get a vaporize and run it all day and night for him... you can buy ocean nose asline spray with an orange lid at walmart or other stores.. or the baby brand Little noses or something.. and get him to the dr.. chances are it is a sinus infection.. he'll probably need an anitbiotic... and keep sucking his nose with the aspirater too... keep him elevated too...

Check the links below... also when my kids got this they usually had an ear infection too....

Can an 8 month old baby have mumps?

Yes, It is possible. But only in a rear case. It’s a very little age but there were some cases in past and so, we can’t neglect it. So, my advice is that if your baby is suffering from mumps then you should take your baby to a hospital where s/he can be treated well. There is a vaccine for it but for the 8-month old baby; it might create difficulty to baby’s health.s/he should be diagnosed first and then after the treatment would be started. Otherwise, there might have chances of a worse situation.Keep your baby safe, healthy and happy!P.S. - Do not feed anything to your baby without getting enough information about nutrition. Buy products which are reviewed by other parents positively.

What is the normal temperature for a 11 month old baby ? ?

You need to take your baby to the hospital right away. (But for the record, baby's temps do run higher than adults.) However, that is much to high.
