When Should We Expect To Hear Back The Genetic Testing On Kennewick Man

What is a key difference between the On Your Knees cave (Alaska) investigation, versus the Kennewick Man or African Burial Ground cases?

a.Descendent communities were consulted in the Alaskan case
b.Native people were invited to participate in the research in the Alaskan case
c.A museum was built in Alaska, but not in Washington or New York City
d.The Alaskan case had identifiable research questions, but these were absent in the other two examples

A couple questions about the Kennewick Man?

How do you think the events that happened with the finding of the Kennewick Man's remains have/could affect paleoanthropology?

Also do you think the remains should be kept for scientific study or given to the indian tribes for a traditional burial?

What does Kennewick Man prove?

That the earliest inhabitants of the Americas were physically different from today's Native Americans. While the rec0onstruction of K-man made him look like Patrick Stewart, he seems more typical of the Ainu people of Japan.

On the banks of Washington state’s Kennewick River, the skeleton of a most unusual murder victim was found in 1991. The man to whom they belonged to was 90 centuries old and was Caucasian. Did they try to cover this up?

Kennewick Man was discovered in 1996. At the time two archeologist claimed that he was more closely related to Polynesian or Souteast Asian peoples than to modern Native Americans. At the time this was a sensitive issue politically. The claimed origin of Kennewick Man was based on the shape and structure of the skull. DNA technology was not well enough developed to determine his origin. However, developments in DNA technology eventually allowed genetic testing in 2013.In 2015 it was publicly announced that Kennwick Man had most DNA in common with Native Americans, including those in the Columbia River region. One of the archeologists who had disputed the origin of Kennewick Man had already withdrawn his opinion, based on a study of more recently found ancestral Native American skulls.TL:DR There was no coverup, just a difference of opinion, which was resolved as more evidence became available. It’s called science.

Why are people in the pacific hard to trace exact ancestries?

Just wondering if we know where the polynesian people came from. I heard they were of caucasian origins. And then the Japanese natives were supposedly closer to indonesian or sort of like the polynesian type boat people but then the mainland asians mixed in with the Japanese. And I guess this would be the same for Taiwanese? What do you know about these ancient cultures? I rarely hear exact answers about the migration of these peoples.

How come history books do not teach that the oldest remains found on the North American continent were Caucasian? The Kennewick man

Your information is dated or mistaken.Kennewick Man is the name generally given to the skeletal remains of a prehistoric Paleoamerican man found on a bank of the Columbia River in Kennewick, Washington, United States, on July 28, 1996. It is one of the most complete ancient skeletons ever found. In the early 2000s, genetic analysis did not have sufficient techniques to analyze such ancient DNA. By 2013, however, techniques had improved and the ancient DNA (aDNA) was analyzed. In June 2015 the team announced their conclusions, that Kennewick Man had most in common with Native Americans among living peoples, including those in the Columbia River region where he was found. The recent and overwhelming DNA evidence of human remains in the Americas is that the first inhabitants of America were from Northern Asia. Caucasians remains have been recently discovered by DNA in Central Asia, not the Americas.
