When To Eat In Ramadan

When to eat in the morning - Ramadan?

Regarding Ramadan and fasting, are we supposed to eat before fajr or shuruk? According to my timetable, it says that shuruk is sunrise.
I have been eating up until shuruk. So for example, this morning, shuruk was at 6:22 and so I ate until 6:20. I have been doing this all week - I think I did it wrong.

Thank you,
Ramadan Kareem

What do you say before you eat on Ramadan?

IN ENGLISH--

-While starting your fast during Suhoor say:
I intend to keep the fast today in the month of Ramadan

-While breaking your fast during Iftaar say:
O Allah I fasted for you and I believe in you and break my fast with your sustenance

IN ARABIC--

-While starting your fast during Suhoor say:
وَبِصَوْمِ غَدٍ نَّوَيْتَ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ
[Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri ramadan]

-While breaking your fast during Iftaar say:
اللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ امنْتُ وَ عَلى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ
[Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa 'ala rizq-ika aftarthu]

When do you stop eating during Ramadan?

During fasting, at any time of the year, not only Ramadan, but the meaning of fasting, is to fast from Fajr until Maghrib. Here in Egypt, Fajr is at 3 55 a.m so it depends on where you live. If you have the prayer chart, you can check the time of fajr and maghrib and those are the times in between which you fast.
So we dont fast from sunrise to sunset, but its from dawn till sunset. In the Quran it says "Kolo washrabo hatta yatabayan al khaytul abyadu men al khaytu al aswadu men al fajr" which means " eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from theblack thread (darkness of night).
But this cannot be confused with sunrise. it doesn't mean you keep on eating until you see light outside, thats why you should really get the correct time from the Prayer chart. you can get that from a mosque.
Good luck and Ramadan Mubarak!

Ramadan: What to eat for Suhoor and Iftar?

Assalamu Alaikum,

• Following food are my recommendation to be eaten in Sahoor and Iftar during Ramadhan and eating in daily eating all year around for good health:

Dates, figs, bananas are most nutritious fruits to eat with multi grain bread with cream chease, eggs, chicken meat and vegetables. All the above foods have lot of fiber. Drink plenty of water and never coke. All Fibers in above food hold lot of water in them to last all day and we do not feel so hungry. Fiber in foods also keep our antis-tines clean and free from buildup. Fiber works like brush removing fatty stuffs sitting in antis tines and keeps entire digestion system clean and healthy. Do not eat less in Sahoor thinking it a break fast only.

Prophet Mohammad SAW recommend that one should eat his full meal in the morning, eat less in lunch and lowest amount of food in super. He also said keep 1/3rd of stomach empty even when you eat full morning meal. Food can move around to be digested easily and one never gets fat with never filling himself to full.

I hope my answer will benefit your health and you will be able to fast without out getting hungry all day.

May Allah guide us all on to the straight way of Islam that leads us to Allah and heaven in the hereafter.

Is it haram if i have pku and eat during ramadan??

If you have a medical condition that stops you from performing your fast then its not Haram. If someone is using a condition as an excuse not to fast when in fact they could still perform fasting then yes its Haram (i am in no way suggesting this is what you are doing, just trying to give a full answer from all angles).
Perhaps even if you cannot perform when the hours of fasting are long you could perhaps try to make up those days of fasting in the shortest days of winter when the hours without eating would be considerably shorter.

Its not haram if you have a condition, Allah is all seeing and all knowing and all merciful.

Peace to you...
