If I mail a letter today, when will the recipient receive it?
If it is in a nearby town or city, it will probably arrive tommorow or the next day. I don't think they will get it today unless it's in the same town. Most likely no more than 1 or 2 days. So if you mailed it today (Wednesday) they will most likely get it Thursday or Friday.
How long will it take for a jail inmate to receive my letter?
Assuming the jail isn't overcrowded, understaffed, he's in the general population and behaving, and your letter does not contain any suggestive or forbidden language, code, residue, or questionable objects, he should get it within 72 hours. If the jail does have these problems, it can take a week or more. If you had anything to do with his crime or are a suspect, they may forbid him from reading the letter at all (especially if you have a warrant). I'm not accusing; I'm just saying. If he is in solitary, he may not get it until he's out and back in with the general population. If he's in the psychiatric unit, it can vary based on his mental status, letter content, etc. (ex. if he's suicidal and your letter contains phrases that could cause more harm, they may withhold it, or vice versa if they feel the letter will help his condition). This is all based on what I know about our county's jail (I'm a police officer) which for all I know could be waaay off from what your county's jail does. Recently I've been working with an inmate for an open case we are investigating and every time I've gone to interview him and ask how he's doing, he breaks down sobbing because he isn't allowed to read the mail from his mom because of some stupid mail violations. (Don't be surprised if you get your mail returned to you because of a violation--check with the jail to make sure there aren't any requirements you must meet!! Jails take this very seriously just as prisons do!) Also, don't be alarmed, worried, or surprised if you don't hear from him for awhile (weeks to a month or more). This is not unusual or his fault. If that happens, you could try arranging a phone call session with him or a visit--again, assuming you are not involved with the crime. As an ex employee of the company I can say that Capgemini is quite efficient in terms of dispatching their call letters. I got my call letter just 20 days after recieving my final year results.However, the process of sending the call letters is completely random. It might take somewhere around 15 days to 3 months after the announcement of final year results depending on the course.

Correct, they are not withholding it from it, it is called processing. Your letter takes 2 to 5 days to get to that location, then when they are new Recruits it can take up to another 2 weeks for it to be sorted and him to receive it, then he has to write back which might not be until Sunday, & finally it takes 2 to 5 days to get to you. So the whole process for first letters can take up to 3 weeks before he receives it and another week before his response gets to you.
Why my bf in basic training has not received my letters?
My husband and I had the same problem. He was receiving everyone else's letters but mine and I was actually getting his. He starting panicking about four weeks in when he hadn't heard from me so I called his CO. Word of advice: He got in trouble for me doing that so don't call anyone about it. Turns out, it was a delay in the mail department and five weeks into training he received a PILE of my letters. From then on out he received them in time. They are probably just backed up and mail from out of the country takes a little longer. In the meantime, ask him mom to write him saying that you are writing letters to him but he isn't getting them. That way he knows what's going on. OR you could mail them to her address and have her send them on to him since her mail is getting there faster. Good luck!

How long until a recruit can send a letter from Navy bootcamp?
There's no specific time or day that he can send letters but they're really busy the first few weeks so I would wait at least 2 or 3 weeks til you receive your first. My "boyfriend" is at Air Force basic right now at Lackland AFB and he wrote his first letter Jan 15th and he started Jan 6th. But it depends on whether his TI's and stuff allow them to write, some people aren't even allowed to write until a specific time given but that all depends on the TI. Once you get his mailing address, just write to him as much as you can cause he'll greatly appreciate it. I just got his 3rd letter today and he said for me to write him every day cause that's what they love and mail call is the best part of BMT for them. He also said in a P.S. that he's only able to send mail on Sundays. [not write, but send.] So you would get a letter prob either Wed or Thurs whenever he sends his letters. But when my brother was at boot for the Marines, I didn't receive his letter til about 4 weeks after he left. So I guess it varries but you should be getting a letter in about 2 weeks or so. Don't worry give him time <3.
