When Will I Get My Braces Off

When will I get my braces off?

Well I would say even though your teeth are straight now, that it's far from over.
Just because your teeth are straight does not mean that your braces are ready to come off. If you take them off soon, your teeth will slide back to chaos. What the orthodontist is doing now is making sure you take good care of your teeth and making sure that when the time will come to take them off, they'll stay straight and perfect :]

Good luck with your braces :]

What can I expect when I get my braces off?

Your dentist will seat you in the dental chair and make sure you’re comfortable. His assistant will then walk around the room swinging a tiny potpourri vase filled with flowers freshly plucked from the hilltops, filling the room with an intense, yet refreshing floral zest!Whilst she’s doing this, you will hear the tinkling of little bells, and very soft chanting, coming from the front office staff that have gathered respectfully outside the room. After a short, but meaningful speech, the dentist or, even better High Orthodontist, will burn a small paper trinket symbolic of the “release” of your crooked teeth into the Universal Ether.Your braces will then come off.As you leave the clinic, you will feel lighter, fresher and strangely, smoother? Your outlook on life will be brighter and it seems like your senses are energized as you walk (or drive, cycle, whatever) home. From this day forth, all shall bow before you in earnest, loving, supplication - unable, of course, to resist the scintillating smiles that you beam forth with every glance.

What will happen if I get my braces off early? I've had them on for a year and my teeth are straight enough for me.

I recommend talking to the orthodontist. The REAL purpose of braces is not necessarily to improve your smile— its to improve th way the teeth fit together and work together. Misaligned teeth can shift your bite in an unhealthy, dysfunctional way that can cause painful jaw problems, headaches, and make you grind your teeth . Having them nice and straight and pretty is a nice perk but its not the main goal. You should be aware that teeth move very slowly through the bone. Its is normal for teeth to feel loose for a while as they move, and the braces are necessary to hold them in place until the bone fills in around the roots so they dont automatically begin shifting back again.Also- just because the front teeth are straight does NOT mean that the bite is correct. Orthodontists do these things in stages. No one but your orthodontist can tell you where in your treatment plan you are and what the risks are if you have them removed early.Ask at your next appointment. Be aware however, that you are probably going to be billed for most if not all of the treatment, even if you get them off early. Especially if the doctor has arranged some kind of payment plan with you.

How do I take braces off at home?

I can actually answer this because I used to do it in geometry class. Take a regular wood pencil, remove the metal eraser holder thing on the end. Rest the wood end on your bottom teeth. Wedge the top of the wood under one of the metal squares and bite down slowly… no need to snap your mouth shut or anything. The square will pop off. Be aware, though, that if you do this the glue holding the metal square to your tooth can sometimes remove some of your tooth enamel. Over time this can form a little divot in the tooth that may or may not be visible. This divot (hole) will also provide a nice entryway for bacteria to get under the enamel and cause tooth decay. Two of my teeth have bonding over their front surfaces to seal the holes left by my DIY brace removal technique. Also be aware that braces are really expensive so when you come home and your parents see you without your braces they may not be very happy with you. Your orthodontist on the other hand won’t be too fussed as he’ll charge to re-attach them. My orthodontist used to greet me with a cheerful “Again, Richard?” after each of these episodes. And sooner or later your parents will give up on your braces and you’ll get to spend the rest of your life with crooked teeth which will of course be your own fault. (Forgive my ranting if you have a better reason for doing this than I did which was “I don’t like the way they feel”). Lastly, as others have pointed out, getting the metal bands around your molars off is a whole different beast. I never figured out a way to remove these but probably the procedure starts with a trip to the tool section of your nearest Home Depot.

If you died with braces on would they take them off?

Sorry to be so descriptive later (there are graphic details about body preparation for burial) but unless it is in your will for them to come off then I'm quite certain that they would leave them on.There would also be an added cost to you or your family to have them and the bonding (glue) removed and your teeth polished. There would really be no point in having them removed.First, for several reasons they sew your mouth closed in just the perfect way to give you the best and most beautiful mouth shape. I've never been to a viewing and seen a deceased persons teeth showing. You would NOT want to see the inside of their mouth, at all, and I'll leave it at that.Second, immediately after you take off the braces the teeth go crooked again and you would not want them to show anyway. My daughter had gone through her first and second phase of braces and had been wearing a permanent retainer for a couple of years so you'd have thought her teeth were strong in their new position. The permanent retainer (glued on wire) came off the back of her front teeth one day and I didn't even have time to get her to the orthodontist. Within an hour her front teeth had separated again and within a half day the gap was as wide as it was originally before orthodontics.(Your teeth have a memory. That's why retainers are so important. Anyhow, the explanation for that is a discussion for another topic). So, back to your basic question, again, I don't believe they would remove them, I think it would be impractical and an unnecessary cost but if you want to have them removed if a tragedy happened then I would set the funds aside and put it in your will.If you are indeed a teenager I hope that you are spending your days mostly thinking about happy things and living. Have you ever thought about going into orthodontics? You make a lot of money, take a lot of vacations, work around a lot of really nice women and you get to wear scrubs all day. Oh and most dentists only work 4 days a week! \U0001f60a

If I take my braces off early will I still get a retainer?

I have had my braces for over 26 months now (when I was originally told around 18 months.).

I am very very tired of having braces. I am tired of the pain, tired of the mouth sores from friction. After the first year they were strait and the second year there hasn't been much movement. I am happy with how strait they are now. Plus I am starting to get other dental problems like cavities because its hard to clean well around all this junk. I had a tooth die and needed a root canal ($1000 + 700 for crown) and the endodontist told me the tooth probably died from shifting with the braces. I really can't stress more how much I want to remove them. But I still want to retain where they are at. When I go back in a week I am going to pay them off in full. If I ask for them to be removed early, will they still give me a retainer since I paid them off? or can they weasel out of it somehow? I just want to know my rights here.

Thanks.

I’m about to get my braces off and my teeth are very yellow, what’s the best way to whiten them?

Congratulations on getting your braces off. I mean it gives really a sense of relief and a weight off your shoulders,Anyway, in most cases after getting your braces off , you usually find out that your teeth are yellow which is completely normal. This is mainly caused by stains that you were unable to remove because of those braces. The first advice I would give you is not to rush in order to whiten your teeth. That is, if you rush you may hurt your oral hygiene. You need to know what you are doing and perform any teeth whitening procedure correctly. The second thing is, if you judge that your teeth are lightly stained which means one little unnoticeable yellow/beige spot or your teeth are just a little bit yellow; Baking Soda is a good option to start with. However, as baking soda is abrasive you need to do it at the right frequency according to the sensitivity of your teeth (sensitive or not) and the state of your gums (receding or not/healthy or not really). I highly advise you to check this Baking Soda Teeth Whitening Article which will help you to perform the procedure correctly. The Third thing I would say is, if you judge that your teeth are stained in an advanced way (Sorry for my English :) ), You need to opt for some sophisticated methods. In that case there is 2 ways to approach that … The natural way and the Product oriented way (I don’t know if this expression exists in English):- For the natural way, you need to avoid all staining foods (Coffee, Alcohol, sweets …) and opt for natural foods especially those that allow saliva production like apple and carrot. Saliva plays a role of a natural mouthwash. You can even prepare some natural recipes based on things like strawberry, coconut oil … You can check this all natural teeth whitening Program, you will probably find a Full natural Solution which is also durable and risk free.- For the Product oriented way, there are some good products out there that you may use in order to get Professional results. If you want an effortless Product, you may choose a Teeth Whitening Pen which requires a twice per day use which won’t cost you more than 1 minute. You can check this teeth whitening pen and judge whether or not it is right for your case.I hope this gave you some value and a kind of a blueprint to remove that yellow color which is bothering most people nowadays.Stay Healthy.

Can I get my braces off myself?

No. Do not try. Call a local orthodontic office and ask whether they would be willing to remove your braces. I’m sure that they will be happy to help you. If your treatment is finished at this time, then you can get them to make you retainers so that all that expense and work was not in vain. However, you must go to a dentist for a cleaning and exam after your braces are off. Your risk of cavities skyrockets as you wear braces (they really collect food), and if you have moved and never got your braces off, you may need some fillings.Don’t take your health for granted.Keep Smiling!

Will getting my braces off make my teeth look whiter?

Only if you end up with hypocalcifications. That is little white spots that outline where your brackets were. You do not want those because they are early cavities, class one type; detract from all that time and money spent on straight teeth. Drs have trouble getting all the bonding off in fact bond will remain in some areas and the teeth will darken. Your doctor will re check you to make sure all bond off and ask him to make you some bleaching trays to act as a retainer and whiten your teeth. Maybe he can do it for free:) Also ask him for a copy of the before and after models.
