Where can I watch My Neighbor Totoro in English online?

All the usual places...BUT the English dub SUCKS in a major way! Now, it isn't cosmically bad, like the English dub for Ah! My Goddess (the current World and Olympic record for SUCK!), but it also isn't good. In fact, I have only seen two anime in English that did not suck eggs...Azumanga Daioh and Evangelion. Here is a hint...any anime that has Bridget Hoffman in it will suck major pickle.

"Buena Vista...They did for anime what Chrysler did for cars."

Do men like Totoro?

I am a guy and I don't like Totoro that much (I don't hate it either). However, remember that its not the gift but the thought behind it that counts. If I were to receive the gift, I would treasure it whether I like it or not. I am pretty sure it should be the same with the guy you plan to give it to.On a side note, things I do consider adorable and would like to have

Is Totoro really the god of death?

I've read -- sorry, don't remember how reputable the source was -- that the word "Totoro" (トトロ) is something that Mei inadvertently made up by mispronouncing "Troll", a foreign word that would be pronounced "tororu" (トロル) by Japanese speakers. (I've only seen the English version of the movie, but I hear that in the Japanese one Mei makes all kinds of charming mistakes like this!) If this is true, then the very idea of Totoro wouldn't be old folklore but something from the imagination of the children. And/or Miyazaki. At the same time, just as King Kong wouldn't be called American folklore, it sprang from a very American kind of imagination, and I think we could say the same of Totoro.

How popular is My Neighbor Totoro in Japan?

Very, very popular. In terms of ranking amongst Studio Ghibli films, a quick view of the first 10 websites that came up on Japanese Google showed My Neighbor Totoro topping most lists, losing out only to Spirited Away on 2 of the 10 sites. (I wasn’t surprised to see that; in my mind, the two are the most loved of the Studio Ghibli films to date)(Princess Mononoke is also a strong contender)In terms of how My Neighbor Totoro is viewed in Japan today… it’s unsurprisingly still relevant, even 30 years after its initial release. Its theme tune can still be heard in preschools, supermarkets, amusement parks… most public places, really. It's generally assumed that every single Japanese person has watched Totoro at least twice: the mandatory viewing as a child, and then the second viewing later in life, which is required to fully grasp the hidden message in the plot.[1]For children, it is a magical story about a normal girl who stumbles upon some adorable, magical friends. For adults, it is a nostalgic story about family, loss, and human mortality, with Totoro standing in as the God of Death.(Note: Studio Ghibli has 100% not backed this theory, but a lot of Japanese youth have pretty much accepted it. My sister says it’s an absolute pile of bullcrap, so it can go both ways.)My Neighbor Totoro is considered an integral piece of Japanese pop culture history and a classic that will continue to delight children for generations to come. I myself grew up watching it- first in Japanese, and then the dubbed English version when I was in my teens.Footnotes[1] The Scary Theory That Totoro Is The God of Death

Who is the baby at the end of My neighbor Totoro?

In the credits there's a little baby that hangs by Mei a lot did Satsuki and Mei have another sibling? I would really like to know if this baby in the credits if Mei becomes an older sister does anyone know who that baby is and please don't bring up the Dark theory on My neighbor Totoro up cause I don't believe that is true and thank you for reading and thank you for your answers and I hope you have a really great day:)

What movies are similar to My Neighbor Totoro?

Check out other movies by Hayao Miyazaki, besides My Neighbor Totoro these are my favourite and most similar:Spirited Away (2001) - Oscar winning animated film about a ten year old girl who wanders away from her parents along a path that leads to a place ruled by monster-like animalsCastle in the Sky (1986) - About an orphan Sheeta which inherited a mysterious crystal that links her to the mythical sky-kingdomPrincess Mononoke (1997) - A prince of the disappearing tribe, is cursed by a demonized boar god and on a journey to find a cure. Along the way, he encounters a young human woman fighting to protect the forest

What sort of animal is Totoro? How can you tell?

Totoro is a forest spirit. However, he is obviously a mixture of several animals: tanukis (the Japanese version of raccoons), cats (the pointed ears and the facial expressions), and owls(the chevron markings on their chests and the "ooo"-ing sound they make with their ocarinas at night).
