What natural sounds are best for calming and destressing?

Any natural sounds such as bird chirps, ocean waves, rivers, winds, whales/dolphins (as someone has put earlier) are very relaxing. Mantra chants such as 'ohm' if played in a soft deep voice are also very relaxing.  I used a couple of CDs called Dolphin Dreams when my wife was pregnant. Both mother and the baby loved it. We used that CD for many months after my daughter was born. She connected with that sound so well and would sleep quickly.A few other sounds (not truly natural but close) would be certain solo flute tunes with non-metallic flute. Especially flute from Native American tribal culture. Another alternate is late night or early morning raaga on Rudra Veena - a string instrument with base tones. The sound of this instrument is very calming.

Best white noise machine for baby?

I use Pandora on my phone, and play nature music, or Jewel's children playlist. Although, if you want the whitenoise for your baby you can use the radio. My Mom said she used the TV with my Sister, and I. Go to a station that doesn't come in, or unhook the cable from the TV.

Why do i need sound to sleep?

I always manage to sleep with the fan on...I can't have the tv on nor the radio but I can have the fan on to sleep without it I can't I've been trying to figure out y I do it I even do it during the winter....yes I may b used to the sound but there's got to b more explaination to this...

I have an insomia.. any cure?

Don't drink caffeine after 3:00 p.m.
Don't excercise within 2 hours before going to bed.
Take a warm bath about 45 min. before going to bed.
Keep your bedroom at a comfortable temperature- esp. not too hot, around 72-74 degrees is good.
No light in room, not even a nightlight or light from alarm clock, esp. don't get up after dozing off and turn a light on, interferes with melatonin production and throws your body clock off.
Try a sound machine or fan- something with a soothing "white noise" type of sound.
Eat a turkey sandwich or warm milk before going to bed, helps your body produce tryphtotonin and serotonin.
Try Valerin root and 2mg.melatonin
Do deep breathing and guided imagery meditation before bedtime.
