What is a scene from a movie that was pointless?
The whole scene in Star Wars:The Last Jedi, in which Finn, Rose and BB-8 try to disable the tracking device, was totally pointless given the way it turned out.The scene starts off as a key plot device and seems necessary in the overall scheme of things.After Leia is injured in an attack from the First Order on Resistance mother ship, Holdo takes command. But Poe is not very convinced with her passive approach. He confronts her but in vain.Frustrated, Poe launches his own secret mission to find and disable the tracking device which the First Order is using to track the Resistance.Finn, Rose and BB-8 lead this mission. They need to find the hacker only who can disable the tracker. So they head off to Canto Bight casino planet looking for their man but get captured there.In the prison they find a person, DJ, who introduces himself as hacker and offers to help them. A long escape scene follows.They all infiltrate a First Order ship where DJ betrays them. Finn and Rose are captured by Captain Phasma. Another big fight follows ending up with Finn, Rose and BB-8 joining the Resistance back.Their plan failed. They couldn’t find tracking device or hacker.In other words, this long scene doesn’t have any bearing on the Resistance’s progression from the point Poe kicks off his secret mission till the end of the movie.That said, movie drops a hint, in the end, of Canto Bight casino featuring in the potential sequel. And given DJ’s half baked role, he may also return.Then there are some opinions calling the scene as necessary McGuffin for Finn’s character development.Star Wars Last Jedi: Is this the REAL reason for that divisive Canto Bight casino story?In any case, whatever was the juice in that scene, it definitely wasn't worth the squeeze that lasted well over twenty minutes.
What is your most memorable road trip?
Out of all trips I’ve taken in my life, only two probably count as a proper road trip. Both were several days long, crossed several states and were filled with tons of fun.And both were with my parents.In the first trip in 2016, this was our itinerary:Memphis-> Gatlinburg (Great smoky mountains, 2 nights) -> Shenandoah national park (1 night) -> Washington DC (2 nights) -> Philadelphia -> Atlantic city (1 night) -> Niagara (1 night) -> Connecticut (1 night) -> Nashville -> MemphisAlthough fun, the trip we took this year was a dozen times better. Here’s our itinerary:Memphis -> Ohlakoma via Hot Springs and Talimena -> Amarillo -> Alamosa via New Mexico -> Glendwood Springs and Aspen -> Denver -> Colorado springs -> Kansas city -> MemphisWhy do I say it was better?Because we saw HUGE perfectly preserved dinosaur tracks (Clayton State park)And a fossilized redwood forest (Florissant)We drove to the summit of a dead volcano (Capulin)We walked over land that was once a seabed and besides which dinosaurs roamed millions of years ago!We hiked leisurely at beautiful AspenPlayed in snow at 12000 ft (Loveland pass)Checked out ancient Anasazi cliff dwellings and their simple lifestyleAnd on the othe end- opulent castles (Miramont)We watched gorgeous sunsets (Garden of the Gods, Great Sand dunes)Beautiful sand dunesAnd canyons (Black canyon of the Gunnison, Palo duro)We saw the Leaning Tower of Texas (not kidding!)More hikes through waterfalls!We had such scenic vistas in front of us as we transcended state borders!3500 miles, 8 states, 10 days with the people I love most. We covered almost all types of terrain, and walked the timeline from dinosaurs to ancient humans to current human brilliance. It was a treat for our senses, and quite- educational, let’s say.
