Why do more people write poetry than read it?
Right now there really isn't a good pipeline of good poetry published out there and identified through awards or critical recognition. Professor poets publish routinely and praise each other as a sort of career move, and independent poets don't fit into the scene. Most poets survive as faculty members or from grants, so relationships with other poets are crucial. This leads to career co-dependence, which silences true criticism. Without criticism, crap flourishes and the reading public is tired of it. Many more people write than should write because there is no one out there to tell them they suck at it.
Who here reads stories on the site FanFiction?
I just wanna know how many other people do because my friends aren't into that stuff........ Oh, and if you read on it, do you write? I'm always open to new stories and I always review. I also write, so hopefully my reviews are constructive....... Hebrew sentences are meant to start from the right and go to the left. It is not backwards, just different than what you are used to.
I don't like reading but I love writing...?
I'm at a loss. I didn't really know what I wanted to do when I grow up until about a few years ago. I realized I absolutely loved writing. The art of creating whole new worlds full of people with their own ambitions and dreams and thoughts. I love creating things with the written word. But my problem is that I've grown discontent with reading. It doesn't really hold my attention as much as it used to. Maybe it's because the last book series I actually really read was Twilight, but I feel like my love for books never really existed. Should I give up on my dream because of this? I've read everywhere that to be a good writer you have to be a good reader. What should I do? I really love this, but I feel like I can't.
