You can get some Italian movies with English subtitles on Netflix. Alternatively, you can download the subtitles for a certain movie online, there are different sources. You have to download them and then use them along with the movie, not the easiest thing to do, but it’s an option!

I need to watch the 1991 film Mediterraneo for my Italian class and I can't find it anywhere with english subtitles. I really wouldn't like to pay to watch it but even places like NetFlix don't have it online. suggestions?

I'm afraid most region 1 DVDs are in English, Spanish or French (or a combination of those languages). Disney has pretty strict regulations on their discs, but if you already own the English language versions perhaps it is less questionable to have downloads of the Italian versions. I say torrent the films you already own! However, you could also purchase a region free DVD player and then buy the DVDs from any online seller that carries Italian Disney flicks. To do the opposite, i.e. - If you already own the English DVDs (region 1) you can watch them on your laptop no problem, right? I recommend VLC or MPlayer, they are both free programs and can deal with most if not all formats. And want to watch those with Italian subtitles you can download those online.

I'm assuming that you meant an italian person trying to learn english, and i guess it's the same for everyone, you could start by watching movies or tv series in English with subtitles in your native language, and then when you are feeling confident move on to full english.

That guy below is a loser! I can't believe he gave it away! This movie is beautiful!!!! La Dolce Vita is in Italian with English subtitles However you could rent the English version called A beautiful life. Personally I think you should watch it in Italian with the English subtitles. You will get more feel for the movie! I loved this flick I could watch it over and over. I'm not into romantic movies and I hated the notebook because it was a little to cheesy but this movie blows every romantic movie out of the water! two thumbs up ... enjoy! Carpe Diem!!!

You can find some movies/shows Italian-dubbed on Netflix. If it’s not on Netflix, I try tantifilm (currently ends in .uno, but will probably change). They also have tv shows.
