What Canadian CBC TV/Radio programs do you watch or listen?
Fewer and fewer sadly. Right now, the local morning program, the world at six, and as it happens along with podcasts for The next chapter and Writers & Company.I used to listen to a lot more such as Vinyl Cafe, Basic Black, Double Exposure, RCAF (Back when they did skits on the radio), Vanishing Point, The Mystery Project, Morningside, Gaborough, Between The covers, etc. Most of these are gone and not coming back as podcasts.CBC TV I’ve pretty much stopped watching since they stream everything so I can cherrypick. It seems to be relying more and more on UK and Australia and NZ programming since the last gigantic budget cut a few years ago. A lot of it’s dramatic programming is like watching KPAX (when calls the heart, heartland, Murdoch mysteries). It goes to the same well time and again, especially with Anne of Green Gables and LM Montgomery.I do watch The Fifth Estate, The Nature Of Things (if it’s interesting), and Marketplace (sidebar: although the hosts and reporters on Marketplace arent as professional as they used to be and now speak overdramatically, react way over the top, and even editorialize instead of letting their subject tell the story).I’ll watch the first period of Saturday night hockey then switch to something else when Cherry comes on. He was a loudmouth hired back in the day to compete against WWF which was taking away from their audience, so they hired an over the top host to compete against an over the top sport. Now he’s just an 85 year old crank who says stuff that would get anyone else fired.Again there’s a lot of CBC I used to watch but that’s all gone and never coming back as streaming or DVD. Not even DaVinci’s Inquest. There’s CBC Gem but all the Canadian programming is recent as to play something older, even from 2000 (other than The Kids In The Hall) would require renegotiating cast and crew royalties for online airings so no Beachcombers or Seeing Thing or anything else rotting away in the CBC vaults.
Are all Japanese Anime safe to watch?
First of all, there is no legitimate "F-word" in the Japanese language. There are however a few new-ish/modern terms that can be loosely translated to curse words to appease the non-Japanese crowds. (There is a word that means `drop dead` in English and is often subbed as, well, you know.) Second, most anime shows (not what we call cartoons [for kids]) are aimed at the 16-20-something MALE demographic. This is in no way meant to be watched by the under 16 crowd. If it`s on TV in your country during the day, then your network isn`t doing it`s job. If it`s on the internet for downloading, it`s up to adults to monitor that! My husband is Japanese, fluent in English, and has seen sooooo many anime shows, I can`t count. He is a collector of manga, too. My eyes have practically rolled out of my head from the stuff I`ve seen him read and watch. The female demographic has risen over time, so there are some for tweens and teens like that. (Do not be deceived by the "mo-e"-ness of a show called "K-ON", which the hubby is currently watching on the telly. It features an all-girl high school band, but after a few episodes, I realized it was not even close to being a cartoon.) I am watching a new show called "Occult Academy". For teens or older, but it`s good. I reccommmend it for you and your friends! NOTE: Censorship is quite strict here, but realize that foreign curse words are rarely considered curse words in Japan. I`ve been at department stores and supermarkets (standing next to kids and old people) and heard rap and rock songs spit out F--- and SH--, etc. No one blinks an eye. Heck, kids toss up the middle finger in pictures and their parents frame them. It`s fashionable to use the F-word in JP rock songs and live action TV shows (like Rookies or Crows Zero). Nolan did the Trilogy starting with Batman Begins. I guess if you really wanted you could skip that and go to The Dark Knight, but the background is nice to have(and since I watched them in order I can't say if you miss anything or not)

If theres any decline in music is because too many kids getting too lazy, watching TV, playing video games, playing craps like guitar hero instead of reading, learning real music...etc...etc. Sure, people want free market, capitalism and all that and when they get all these craps they buy they later come back and blame all these craps for all kinds of problems. Sure, blame FOX for your favorite politician doing bad or blame whatever for some other problems...etc Who cares if freakin MTV is ruined. Nobody says MTV should accommodate musical tastes of billion schizophrenic kids around the world some how. And people can always turn TV off for a change. Its unbelievable how spoiled people have gotten with free craps on internet. Oh no freakin companies copy right their products to make more money. Geewhiz what a surprise.
