You can access the "Statement of Intent to Employ Minor and Request for Work Permit" form at the link below. http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/dlseformB1-1.pdf "The form must be completed by the minor and the employer and signed by the minor's parent or guardian and the employer. After returning the completed and signed form to the school, school officials may issue the permit to employ and work." You should be able to contact someone at your school or the school board to get the permit even though school is out. Good luck!

Great work ethic experience.Summer after freshman year of college (MIT) I worked for my state’s department of transportation surveying along the Barge Canal (and then for a few days thru, I mean thru, a Sewer System………………………………………….) land surveying is a great way to develop the ability to think on your feet. Nothing like standing there with a sight-rod when charged by an enraged farm animal……………. (Remember you are carrying a two-pound steel plumb-bob…..)Summer after sophomore year in college, I worked at an aluminum company assembling and repairing screens, windows, and patio doors. Great experience for working in a shop with your hands and also dealing with customers.Finally, from January through August of my junior year in college, I got a Co-Op job with a major aircraft company working on the structural design of a supersonic aircraft in Los Angeles.First several summers I worked near my home, so that I could live at home and save money. By junior year in college, I started my Co-Op outside of London, England then spent seven months in Los Angeles. Got to be on my own and in two great cities.So, Prior to junior year in college: Any job that provides you with good work ethic experience and some hands-on applications, no matter what you want to major in. In junior year and after, it should be career related. I had two jobs after senior year, before starting graduate school. A morning job at a supersonic wind tunnel and an afternoon job structurally assaulting slabs of aluminum with high explosives (great fun). Both near the campus at which I would be doing my graduate studies to get acclimated to the area.So, take at least One summer to get a Job as far from home as you can, so you can work on self-survival. The past two summers I worked in a hardware store I worked around 30 hours a week, which is a good amount because you can save a lot of money but still have time for fun. Do teachers work during the summer?
All of them I know work in the summer. Most work for summer camps at the same schools where they teach during the rest of the year.I’ve had two different summer jobs over the years:Security guard for outdoor concert venue. I did this for the fun and experience of it. The money was just a bonus. Almost everyone else who worked there also had jobs in education. It was the perfect job for teachers and high school students. Teachers did the security, and the students were the ushers and ticket takers.Uber driver. This was fun too. It’s like fishing, but for humans. You never knew what you were going to get in Chicago. I met some really interesting people doing this.Fun fact: Craigslist hookers use Ubers to get to their clients. I found this out from experience.
