Is there an easy way to automate the testing of BO reports post-migration?

I don't think you'll be able to completely automate this. This is a pain area for a few reasons and we had done a lot of manual testing due to these. What you can do, is use a combination of automated and manual testing to reduce the work load. For scheduling and exporting reports, you can resort to Java SDK. Assuming you only have WebI and Crystal Reports, the codes for scheduling reports are available in the SCN. "How do I use / run these scripts?" section in Shawn Penner's Blog can show you how to get started with the SDK using AdminTools. Alternatively, you can use Eclipse IDE from a system which has the relevant ports opened.Key points:It is way more easier to handle reports that do not have any prompts, as you just have to schedule them without any inputs and a single code would work fine on both 3.1 & 4.1For reports with inputs, things are much more complexIf the prompt takes values from an LOV, you would then have to handle what all values to use. The code must refresh the LOV, iterate through the values and input the relevant values. If the prompt take a free hand value (as in not from LOV but from a text box), you would then have to figure out what datatype the input is expecting (as in String, int etc) and then provide the same.Another issue with reports that have prompts is the deprecated PromptsUtil.populateWebiPrompts() function. This function is kind of necessary to pass the input prompt values into the report instance. It works fine in 3.1 but does not work in 4.1 versions. In 4.1 you might have to go with RESTful web service SDK. Anyway, at lest you can automate the reports in 3.1And finally, there are certain tools that can compare Excel files in bulk. I can't remember the name of the tool we had used. Also, I'm not sure how many are available as Freewares. But it should be easy to find out.

What are the different reporting tools available for BMC Remedy End user?

It relly depends on your version of the AR System Server. If you have access to the “AR System Report Console”, you can create reports from there, export them, send them through mail on a schedule etc. (This uses the customized version of Birt though, that BMC uses). On the newer versions of AR System there’s also a “Smart Reporting Service” that you might be able to use.If you’re still using the Windows Client, the easiest way to automate reports is to use macros.Feel free to contact me for additional infos.
