Although that says meetings, they use the same rooms for everything (including) Quincenerias (sorry for the bad spelling) They have signs all over town advertising this. Rainbow Gardens on Charleston (Near Decatur & Charleston) has a large banquet hall also, I attended a wedding there last week and I'm sure they can just as easy do any type of event. http://www.rainbowgardenslv.com/

Try some of your local churches, VFW posts, and volunteer fire halls. They will usually rent out rooms for social gatherings for a good price. Also, try local park districts and forest preserves. Some of them have recreation buildings with rooms they rent for parties, and in August you could even do an outdoor BBQ type of party. Most shelters at parks are $50. or less to reserve for a day, and you can plan a lot more active things to do at an outdoor party. Have fun!
How should I deal with the fact that I can't throw a Sweet 16 because I don't have enough friends to invite and know nobody will show up?
We recently threw a sweet 16 for my daughter. She is homeschooled and an only child. I am probably her best friend.Lots of people love my daughter, as I’m sure people love you too. But like my daughter those people are not all 16, but all ages.Invite those people. We invited around 100. We had 65. Some traveled 4 hours, some 10 minutes. They ranged in ages of 4 months to 84 years old.The party was about my daughter. We served one of her favorite foods, Indian and cake was made from Oreos. We had a dj and a photgrapher. The theme was bohemian. We ate a lot of food, danced, laughed and cried, and had fun with our friends and family celebrating my daughters first 16 years. It was wonderful.So no matter how many people you invite, remember the ones who show up, really want to be there and they love you. Have your party and if only 1 person comes, have the greatest party ever!
How do I select my sweet 16 court of honor?
While I am far from an expert on Sweet 16 parties here is my suggestion and it is easy too. Put each of the names on a slip of paper of all of your friends now put the strips in to a bowl mix them up and pull out the number of slips for your sweet 16 court of honor. However you might want to wait and do that about 2 months before the big day. The reason is simple people move or friendship changes. Also if a member of your court has a Boyfriend/Girlfriend I would use them as their escort at your party. Also there are some web site devoted to putting on sweet 16 party and you might get some more ideas on things Also remember you do not want your court to out number the guests. Photography Themed Sweet 16 party?
Don't know if this would work for a sweet 16 party but... I got married a week and a half ago and used this KnotPic website to collect all the photos from all the guests. I know it's designed for wedding albums but one of their big things is about "losing the disposable cameras." Could be a fun addition to the party, especially since you kids these days all have iphones, cell phones, etc :) It would definitely encourage the picture taking and I think they have instructions on how to project a live slideshow. I want to have both parents at my sweet 16.What should I do???
First, hold it someplace NEUTRAL. Your mom's boyfriend's house is not a place where your dad can feel comfortable. Second, send invitations to both of them. Let them both know that the other is invited. One or the other may not show up. Don't hold it against them. Just continue to behave politely, and keep inviting them to important events in your life. The best you can hope for is that they'll grow up and realize that these things are about YOU, and not each other. You can't force this epiphany on them. You're just going to have to be patient. In the meantime, don't let it ruin your life by making your sad and bitter.
