Where Would Be The Perfect Place In England To Spend A Friday Afternoon

I'm bored. What's a good way to spend my Sunday morning?

Thanks for the A2A! You can probably use these tips for next Sunday since it's probably not the morning anymore. What I do daily is create a schedule and be productive by all means necessary. I have a small company I started so my days are usually filled with tasks. But I'll tell you how I used to spend my Sundays before the business. Here is how I spent some of my Sundays:Making my bed with hospital corners; I understand many people hate doing this but keeping your life organized is key to everything else in my opinion. Just having the discipline to do this puts you a step above others.I clean my rooms in the house. I do this because when I'm tired I tend to just throw my clothes on the floor for the morning and because I usually have people constantly in my house.I organize my workspace and take out all the trash in my home and recycling bin while simultaneously speaking to my computer about some things I may have missed last night to put on the schedule for today.I work out for about an hour or so either at the gym or on my pullup/push up bar.I make some YouTube videos about my thoughts on business or other randomness , not for money or anything at all but just to do it , maybe to add another perspective to life. I do it when I'm driving to other business related things.I look on YouTube to fix things around my house or make then better such as gardening, fixing a sink that's leaking, installing new ceiling fans etc. These are projects I give myself.I may wash or vacuum my car. Put weed/grass killer on my driveway. Now this is a little unorthodox but I literally may sit down and think about how to NOT watch tv.I may pick up a new skill , for example I know how to crochet and knit because I was bored on one of my Sundays or weekends.I may research online for other ways to make passive income.Shine my dress shoes.Iron some of my commonly worn clothes with starch , if they're wrinkled in my drawer.Do LaundryVolunteer at a children's homeless shelterStudy some clep books to make college cheaper.Get another jobThere's many ways to spend your Sunday. Now that I look back to when I was a kid I can't even fathom what bored means. Sometimes working often is a pain but I'd rather be productive then bored for sure. I hope that helps!

What’s The best Way To Spend A Rainy Afternoon?

In New England, we get stuck inside on heavy snow days, no way out unless you feel like shoveling or snow-blowing. And the plow guys always get to your house last.Whether a snowy or rainy day, I always feel so good about “sheltering in place.” When I was little, I got to stay home from school with my mom and watch TV, play Chinese Checkers or Monopoly with the girl next door, and generally stay home feeling cozy.Presently, my fave activities on bad weather/stuck at home days are:Weeding out my closetOrganizing drawersStarting a fire in the wood-burning stoveMaking a pot of soup to last the week with whatever vegetables and herbs are available in the fridge. If I happen to have cod or other fresh fish available, I cut it up in chunks and throw it in for the last five minutes, et voila, a fish stew. Chicken or tofu is okay too, but not as tasty.A perfect day—except if the power is out. Then, no soup!

Is Colchester a good place to spend your time in England?

Colchester is awful in every sense of the word. I have been living here for eight years now and it goes progressively down hill with every passing year.Colchester is a genuinely dirty and violent place that attracts the lowest of the low from all over the world. Being trapped between Clacton-on-Sea and London, Colchester seems to be a dumping ground for all of their degenerate trash. Violent crime can happen at any time, at any place, even in the middle of the town centre in the middle of the day.The past two years have seen a steady increase in homelessness and aggressive begging. You are more likely to hear foreign languages walking down the street than you are to hear English, but that comes from being so close to London. The amalgamation of hostile Eastern Europeans and unpleasant Little Englanders makes for a tense environment at any time. Going out at night in the town centre can be dangerous.Employment wise, Colchester has also been steadily declining in recent years and decent job opportunities are scant. I would say most people residing in Colchester work in London, Chelmsford or Ipswich, which all have much stronger opportunities. As there are few employment opportunities here, there are many unemployed people, and this leads to the usual problems with hard core drug abuse, alcoholism and petty crime. Retail shops continue to close down en masse, although a few upmarket eateries have opened up recently. The University of Essex, which is technically in Wivenhoe, is the nearest major university which has a large body of international students. They sometimes meander in to Colchester, occasionally giving the town a slightly cosmopolitan atmosphere.Colchester’s star attraction is unarguably its Roman castle which attracts visitors from all over. It is essentially a large rectangular castle. Inside is a very underwhelming museum which is expensive for what it offers, which is a ten minute walk around looking at fairly uninteresting relics of ancient Colchester. It seems that Colchester was never any more interesting than it is currently, which is not very.In conclusion, I cannot recommend to anyone to come to Colchester for any reason for any length of time.

What is a good way to spend a Sunday in Kolkata?

Bengalis like to spend their Sundays in a typical Bengali way. You can enjoy a Sunday in the city just like a Kolkatan does.In the morning, you can go to North Kolkata, where you can have your breakfast of kochuri & alur dom with sondesh, at any sweets shop or small age-old eateries. There are plenty of them in North. Then, you can take a stroll along the streets, or go to the Star Theatre (or any theatre) to watch new films. Otherwise, you can visit the heritage buildings around Kolkata. Victoria Memorial is a popular destination.Visiting places like Eco Park, Indian Museum, Botanical Garden (in Howrah), Alipore Zoo, Science City, etc. are other options. You can spend your afternoon at the river banks - we call them ghat - like Babughat, Princep ghat etc., from where you can see the dying light of the day on the serene waters of the River Hoogly, a distributary of River Ganga. You can also take a boat ride across the Hoogly. It is a great experience.Bengalis like watching theatre. If you want to watch live drama, you can go to Girish Mancha, the Academy of Fine Arts & other such theatres. You can go to Nandan to watch recent (good) Bengali films. Nandan also hosts Film Festivals. On such occassions, you can go there. For lunch & dinner, you will get many authentic Bengali restaurants like 6 Ballygunge Place, 13 (Tero) Parbon, Bhojohori Manna, Oh! Calcutta etc.You can also go to Park Street to see the nightlife of Kolkata. There also you will find many good restaurants - like Mocambo, Peter Cat, etc.On a Sunday morning, you can go to Belur Math & also visit the Dakshineshwar Temple. Spending the whole day there, on the banks of the Hoogly, gives peace to one’s soul. There are various other ways to spend a Sunday in Kolkata. I just listed a few.Hope you enjoy your time!

Is it correct to say "I hope you have a good day"? Is there a better phrasing?

It's fine, but nobody says that, however it will be understood.Americans say "Have a nice day" - because they can't help feeling the need to demonstrate that they are nice, polite people (which they are of course). The British smile, and raise their eyebrows - which means "OK, please go away now". If you don't get the message, we might verbalise it as tarra, bye, see you later then, well I have places to go and things to do, close the door on your way out won't you!Try to avoid using "have a nice day" or "I hope you have a good/nice day" here in the UK.  We will probably not think good things about you. We will either think you are being sarcastic, or you are just moving your mouth for the sake of it. Some things are best left unsaid.  Of course, if you are a foreigner, we would probably realise you actually mean it (Americans included of course!).

Why dont British people say "Have a Nice Day..you too!" etc like Americans do?

We spend more time greeting each other and giving greetings for a send-off than any other country in the world.

If you’ve spent time in London you wouldn’t get it, as no one speaks to each other, but I suspect it’s the same as New York.

But if you go down to a place like Devon you can easily spend 10 minutes talking to a complete stranger, this would involve greeting, small talk and then a nice send off.

Depending on which part of the country you’re in depends on the greeting, greeting you’d get in the north of England and even Scotland wouldn’t seem English to you at all

Have a look at the link to see common greetings we use

The Handshake

Informal greetings

Goodbyes

Ta ta.
Cheerio.
Toodleoo.
Byee
See ya la'er.
So long.
Cheers (stands for almost everything.)
Good morning, afternoon, evening or night (used by gentlefolk.)

EDIT

One thing we don’t do is become what we regard as overly nice

A friend of mine has just come back from the US and she said people “go over the top”

It’s within your culture to be like this

However, with us if someone becomes what we regard as overly nice we take it with suspicion, a kind of like

“Oh yeah what he/she after” or “oh yeah what are they making up for”

We are subtle with our greetings and goodbyes from train stations to bus stops to walking down the street.

But you’ll get it more if you get out of the big cities

Packing List for a month in England Ireland Scottland Wales for a teenager?

Travel light on the way over. It'll make the trip easier and you'll be able to buy clothes in the UK you wouldn't get at home and these will be souvenirs for a few years (until you grow out of them).

The mains electricity in the UK is 250v so anything you are thinking of bringing that won't cope with that (unless you have an adaptor from 110 -250) you should leave behind. If you have access to a washing machine and shower regularly you can get away with bringing fewer clothes.

You don't say when you're coming. It's cooler by the coast at night. Inland it can be pretty humid. Clothes are cheap enough to buy when you get there according to how you find the climate. Travel with enough clothes for the first 3 days and buy some on your 2nd day.

Take a good book for the plane / airport. Shoes that you can kick off or which are loose and breathe, How much money? That depends on what you're planning on doing and the exchange rate.

Get your cash before you leave. You get a better exchange rate.

You can get a kind of credit card which you "charge up" with funds and it becomes useless unless more funds are put onto it. Like a top up credit card. That may make sense for you. A UK radio station called "TalkSport" used to do them.

When is the best time in the day to do sales prospecting and make cold calls?

As pointed out some, your question can actually be broken down into two questions:1) What is the best time to do sales prospecting?2) What is the best time to do cold calls?Question 1Sales prospecting is the process of identifying potential leads from among all your leads.Since this is done through various means, it can be a continuous process, meaning, you don’t have to restrict yourself to work hours.Gathering background information about your lead to warm them up using LinkedIn and Google can be conducted any time of the day. Most sales rep tend to skip this step and proceed to make contact.Wrong Idea.Gathering some level of information before contacting them helps you get a better response since you can alter your message to make it appear customized for the lead. Now, making contact i.e. reaching out to these prospects leads us to your second question.Question 2:This might not be the popular opinion, but I think getting ‘When not to cold call’ right is more important than the other way around.Mondays.The prospect is probably already in a funky mood – He’s coming back to work after 2 days of pure bliss. Not to mention, 2 days of piled up work that he probably needs to catch up on. You’re only going to add to his worries by calling him to talk about YOUR product, something he didn’t sign-up for in the first place.Fridays.This is a no brainer. How many times have you told yourself “I don’t feel like working. It’s Friday after all.”? Your prospect is no different. He/she is most likely, eyeing the clock and hoping to get out by 4 pm. Chances that he/she will entertain a cold call in this mood is questionable.Lunch time.Making people wait for their lunch time is probably the single most worst thing you can do to your chances of inching forward. The person might answer your call, might even hear your sales pitch (humans avoid being rude if they can help it) but he/she for sure are not actually paying attention.Waste of breath. Your breath.Generally speaking, this is the best time to cold call:@All-In-One Resource for Effective Sales ProspectingThis presentation on SlideShare covers ‘Prospecting’ at great length. It has a great compilation of cold calling, emailing and canvassing prospecting and follow-up scripts, do’s and don’ts and tools that might help you inch closer to that beautiful feeling of closing a deal!
