There are companies who provide Ir control chips which include virtually all the different significant consumer devices.Alternatively you can record Ir sequences and playback the sequences. This requires you to have access to the original remote to copy it and to press all the buttons to record them.There are also RF remote controls, these are harder to copy but similar techniques can be used.

If you are looking for Device manager from your program... You wil not find it there. To get to the Device manager, if your are using Windows Xp, though this will work for Vista also. Right click your mouse on "My Computer", You will see "Properties" Select, that option and then you will have a menu with tabs on your screen with title "System properties", from the tab options, select "Hardware". And there you should have "Device manager". If you are however using Windows Vista, once you click on My computer or selected the properties, you should see the device manager option on the left side with other options to select from.
