Which Diapers Did You Switch To After Your Child Grow Out Of Pampers Swaddlers Size 4

Questions about diapers... Pampers, and what brand do you like best?

I prefer Huggies, especially the Swaddlers. They can be expensive, but if you sign up at Huggies.com you can get coupons in the mail. Usually I get a book in the mail telling me about their products, and any special new items. At the back of the book there are usually a few coupons with things like $2.00 of a box/pack of diapers or $1.00 off a pack of wipes. In the end, it really helps. Also, if you have a Sam's membership, you can get a big box containing about 288 diapers (I'm pretty sure this is the number, I know I'm close, but I'm not going to go in and check the box since my children are asleep.), for about $37.00. When you calculate it out, you're saving quite a bit, and you can use the coupons on any size.

When you see the box labeled 1-2, it does not contain both sizes, but rather a medium size that will work on both smaller babies and up to the 15 lbs. I find that they tend to work for up to about 18 lbs, but my daughter is smaller than most babies her age.

I am no expert, but I find that the swaddlers have a bit more absorbency than the cruisers. I preferred Pampers when my daughter was born, but mostly because they had the "wet mark" that would turn blue when she was wet. However, this indicator turned at the slightest moisture, so I gave up and tried the huggies. She can wear the swaddlers for quite a bit longer, in my opinion, than the cruisers. The same has seemed true with my son, who is now 6 months old.

What weight was your baby when they outgrew Pampers Swaddlers?

it all depends on the shape of your baby...for instance, i have a petite girl, so she can always wear a size a lot longer than other babies i know..for instance, she's seven and a half mo old and has only been in a two for about a month or so....and even now in a two, the tabs touch each other in the middle when we put it on...she's not underweight, fiftieth percentile....but a baby that weighs the same but is considerably shorter would outgrow the diaper much before she will....if you want to use your coupons, go ahead and buy them at a store that will let you exchange if they aren't the right size later on, or you could use the coupons to buy the cruisers, which are what i understand is the follow up to swaddlers...and if you need more of the size before it, you still haven't lost any money/or u could exchange the cruisers...i would just buy the bigger ones bc you know you will need them at some point and you could avoid the hastle of returning ones that are too small

Should I switch my bedwetter to regular diapers?

My son who is 8yrs old still wets the bed too (which isn't uncommon with boys) and I used to buy him those underjams. Just before he turned 8 they started to leak, I went to a larger size, didn't help. A friend of mine suggested trying Goodnites, but go the next size up, he's only 54lbs; so I bought him the large (L-XL) for boys 60 to 110lbs; they work great. Goodnites also have boxers now which he really likes, they are blue and they look like regular boxers but with the pad inside and they don't make any noise, they are great for sleep-overs or if he has a friend staying the night. Give Goodnites a try. I think if you go to Goodnites web page you may be able to get a free sample.

Alot of people don't understand just how common bedwetting is, mostly with boys, it's just that their bladder hasn't grown as fast as the rest of their body. Alot of kids wet the bed and some who are lucky enough may out-grow this by age 10 or 12, some continue to wet into their teenage years. My brother wet the bed till he was 13, he wet every night till he was around 9 or 10, then he only wet a few times a week, and in time it got better till he stopped when he was 13.

You're doing a great job!

Are Diapers Expensive?

Hi ;) yeah diapers are quite expensive!! If you want a green solution, may I suggest cloth diapers. It will be more expensive in the begining, but in the end you'll avoid uge expenses. The cloth diapers I use are one-size, so I buy them once and they fit until she is potty-trained. It's not much more work (I end up washing my baby's clothes at the same time) and it doesn't take much more time and they are pretty cute.

Having a baby is quite expensive. They grow out of their clothes quickly so they continualy need new outfits. And before you know it, baby will eat pablum ... Also : does your wife intend on breastfeeding?

I suggest you make a budget to make sure you can afford it all... But in the end if you wait until you can afford a baby, you might just wait forever :)

Bigger diaper dilemma, baby needs bigger diapers?

I know Pampers Cruisers come in a size 7 for infants/toddlers. Just ask one of your local retail stores(anywhere with a good selection of diapers will do it for you) to order you some size 7's. My friend and his wife are in the same dilemma, and they got lucky by asking their local pharmacist, who ordered them some. Just call around to anywhere with a good assortment of diapers, and someone should order some for you. Personally, I always find pharmacies most willing to order stuff they don't have in stock.

Good luck!

What size diaper does your 6 month old wear?

let your baby wear whatever size is comfortable. I am only 34 and my mom didn't have decent disposable diapers when we were kids, so I wonder where grandma is getting her info. My son started 3's around this age cause 2's leaked, and he is a little peanut! he only weighed 15 or 16 lbs at that age.

What size diapers do most newborns wear? How much do these sizes vary?

The median-sized American newborn boy is 7.8 lb. A median-sized girl is around 7.5 lb. (Source:Clinical Growth Charts)  That puts the average baby squarely in the NB sizes, but probably not for long. In Pampers, baby moves up to size 1 somewhere between 8-10 pounds."How much do these sizes vary?" The distribution of baby birth weights is a bell curve, but if you look at the CDC growth chart data (Clinical Growth Charts), you can get a pretty good idea what weights are normal:90% of newborn boys weigh less than 9.2 lbs (90th percentile)90% of newborn boys weigh more than 6.1lbs (10th percentile)90% of newborn girls weigh less than 8.8 lbs (90th percentile)90% of newborn girls weigh more than 6.1lb (10th percentile)In Pampers sizes, Preemie-sized diapers only go up to 6lb, which means you have a <10% chance of your baby needing preemie diapers.Pampers Size 1 diapers are supposed to be good up to 10 lb, which also means that you have a <10% chance of your baby *needing* size 1 (though they might be more comfortable in that size). If you're looking for what size of diapers you need for a specific baby, over a certain time period, you can get a good estimate here:http://howmanydiapers.com (free, no registration)It uses the CDC data to estimate quantities and date ranges for each size of diaper your baby will use.

Diaper sizes vs brand - run small/big?

Has anyone noticed that different brands of diapers run bigger than others? My son switched from huggies NB to pampers swaddlers NB and it was like the pampers were a lot smaller. I noticed the day I switched so its not like he grew. They are cutting into the crease in his thigh. I put Luvs size 1 on today when we ran out of the Pampers and they seem too big. If you have noticed this which brands do you think run bigger or smaller than others?

What diaper size did your baby wear the longest? Which size would you recommend to stock up on when possible?

I stocked up on diapers, but ended up with ones I didn't like as much. We did Newborn swaddlers through one pack. Then we did a big box of size 1's. Then I got a huge box of size 1-2's from Sam's club. Then a box of Target's diapers. They're Ok for the price. Then we switched to Huggies gentle care 2's which he pooped out the sides of. Then we tried Luv's and they're great. My sister in law loves Pampers, so I though I'd buy nice diapers, but it turns out plain Pampers are exactly the same as Luv's...for $5 more. So next is another pack of size 2 Luv's. Then I have to use up size 3 Target diapers I bought when I was pregnant. So to sum it up I used a pack of NB's, about 2 packs of 1's, 3 packs of 2's and he'll be in those a little while. I buy the biggest box each time and the best diaper for the money in my opinion is Pampers Swaddlers (only made for sizes NB-2) and then Luv's. My baby was 8 pounds, but at 3 months is about 15 pounds now.
