Which Governed China For Longer The Qing Dynasty Or The Nationalist Kmt Government

How did China change from a government run by dynasties to a communist government?

Origins of the Cultural Revolution
China became communist in 1949 when forces led by Mao
Zedong defeated the Chinese Nationalists after a civil war
that had lasted more than ten years. For the next twentyseven
years, Mao remained the supreme leader of China, despite
serious economic problems and tragic errors in leadership. In 1966,
Mao was on the defensive, fearing that opposition to his leadership
was growing. He believed that certain people in the government
wanted to replace him. To prevent this from happening, he
declared a “Cultural Revolution.” This would complete the process
of communizing the country by exposing those he termed “reactionary
bourgeois authorities,” “capitalist roaders,” or “revisionists”—
and by destroying all remnants of China’s pre-communist
past. Then, to create a revolutionary atmosphere and the upheaval
it brings, Mao encouraged young people to organize themselves to
carry out his policies.
The following excerpts are recollections of seventeen-year-old
student Dai Hsiao-ai, soon to become a Red Guard. In May 1966,
the principal of his school was asked to suspend all classes and
direct his students to make “big character posters” (handmade
posters used to criticize people) and to write essays denouncing
certain “revisionist” writers Mao considered enemies.
At first, big character posters were fun. We would write our
individual posters together and exchange ideas about the
best kinds of criticisms. There was a kind of competition to
see who could write the best one. However, we knew nothing
about (these writers); they seemed distant and few of us
had even read their essays. All of our information came
from the newspapers. We just copied phrases and accusations
from them and incorporated them into our posters.
Discussions of our essays were the same. . . . After 10 days
of this, even the most active among us grew tired. We began
to tell jokes in our meetings. Some people stopped attending
entirely and dozed instead. We continued for about
eight more days but nobody was deeply involved any more

Where did the Chinese Nationalists establish the Republic of China?

hi I took AP worldwide, and purely at present took the AP examination. So I have been given this all coated. After the chinese language had ordinary commerce and connections with usa in the process the Age of Imperialism (1750 -1914), sunlight Yat Sen, a chinese language chief, led the chinese language Revolution of 1911. The result grew to become into that China became extra Westernizsed and won ability to boot out Europeans and eastern, who had ordinary spheres of effect in China. Then, sunlight Yat Sen ordinary his political party, the Kuomindang, which wanted to sell a democratic device. next got here Chiang Kai Shek, who ordinary the Kuomindang formally as a ruling party for China, and ordinary a central authority in Nanjing, additionally usual as Nanking. The Kuomindang have been additionally usual because of the fact the nationalists of China, because of the fact they wanted exchange. bear in techniques, nationalism is the main element that sparks revolutions in any us of a. Mao Zedong then took over and ordinary the persons's Republic of China, that's often communist. Deng Xiaoping then took over after Mao to extra enforce loose marketplace economic device and communism in China.

Do mainland Chinese people realize that their government has no control over Taiwan? I'm not trying to upset anyone, I'm actually just curious.

Yes, of course we do.Mainland Chinese not only realized that Chinese government has no control over Taiwan, actually, we often screw up each other on the internet.Let me tell you in this way. In that small island, three of the most powerful countries are fighting with each other, they’re China, America, and Japan. (I’m sorry, Russia.)On official record, Taiwan belongs to China at least form Ming dynasty (1368AD-1644AD). And after WW II, there’re two political powers existed in China, which are Chinese Communist Party and Chinese Nationalist Party (or KMT, Kuomintang). Well, they fight with each other for 4 years until when CNP failed many battles and moved to Taiwan island. That is from when Taiwan was not controlled by the current Chinese government.Actually last time when I visit the WW II national museum located in New Orleans, LA in the US, I saw the photo of the leader of CNP hanging on the wall. (You’re already familiar with Mao, right? Then I’ll skip his photo. LOL )CNP never gave up fighting back to mainland, even until now there’re still one group people in CNP (who doesn’t even take charge of Taiwan now) is still considering fighting back mainland and get back the land they lost before. There’s one another group of people, however, insist that they should be independent. And that is a new party in Taiwan called Domestic Progressive Party, or DPP. DPP changed Taiwan’s Texts Book (yeah, they made it), telling everyone Taiwan should be independent from China. One group of People disagree, they’re mostly old people now who moved from mainland to Taiwan several decades ago. CNP also disagrees. The current situation of Taiwan is like a chaos. Their current government basically failed to do everything they planed, their economy is getting worse and worse, they didn’t give a clear answer to mainland China to indicate whether they’re going to be independent (which will lead to war) or not. And they don’t know whom they are or whom they should be, neither do they know what they should do next. For your convenience, I’ll skip the part related to America and Japan. As an American (if you are), you may feel uncomfortable if I start screwing up America (which the US deserves).

What led to the fall of the Qing Dynasty ?

Qing Dynasty

Qing Dynasty, 1644-1911, also known as Ch’ing or Manchu, last of the Chinese dynasties. During the Qing period, imperial China reached its zenith of power and influence. The Qing dynasty lasted for almost 300 years, extended China’s borders farther than they had ever been before, and perfected the Chinese imperial system. The Qing Empire appeared so orderly and prosperous in the 18th century that the French philosopher Voltaire praised the Chinese for having the most effectively organized government that the world had ever seen.

The fall and collapse of the Qing dynasty was caused by external and internal changes within and outside the dynasty, peasant revolts, the rise of Sun Yat-Sen and overall western influence. What happens when there is a trade imbalance between two major trading countries? Just ask Great Britain and China. It’s hard to get by when the country you need goods from does not really need to trade goods with you. This is what happened with Great Britain and the Qing Dynasty. There was a high demand for China’s tea in Great Britain but a low demand for Britain’s goods in China. Great Britain was in debt with China and they had to do something to get out. As a result, they turned to selling silver to make the imbalance better. China could care less about Great Britain’s silver so Great Britain was still behinds in payments.

The decline of the Qing Dynasty was started in the middle of the Chien Lung reign. The Qing Dynasty had experience a very prosperous period. But at the middle of the Chien Lung years, there were both internal problems and external invasion. And let’s see how these problems became the symptoms of decline of this former great country. The administrative inefficiency was a serious problem causing the Qing government to collapse.

The last 100 years of China was nothing but problems. Rebellion, wars and civil wars, pressure from foreigners, and foreign immigrants spreading their ideas and cultures throughout China. China let the foreigners get by with too much and the foreigners took advantage of China’s weaknesses. The dynasty got weaker and weaker as timed progressed but China did not go down without a fight.

Have a pleasant day.

Could the People’s Republic of China change their name back to the Republic of China?

I was not going to answer this question, but after reading a BS answer here about treaty etc., and Taiwan not belonging to ROC, I feel compelled to have a say.Taiwan as a province of Qing China was ceded to Japan as a result of losing SJW1 in 1895. At SJW2/WW2 Pacific War, in accordance with the terms of surrender of Japan pursuant to the Cairo and Potsdam Conventions in 1945, Taiwan et al was returned to the ROC, then the legitimate and official government of all of China, succeeding Qing governance. In the Civil War that ensued between the ruling KMT party and the CCP, the defeated KMT retreated to Taiwan, and the CCP took over the Mainland of China and declared the formation of a new government, PROC (aka PRC). ROC was able to prevent PRC from taking Taiwan with the help of the USA, due to the USA's desire to counter communism and the USSR, which was a supporter of PRC.At the time, ROC still held its seat on the UN's Security Council as a permanent member due to its status as a founding member of the UN, and many countries still recognized ROC as the legitimate government of all of China, with the PRC being regarded as a rogue government by many.Possession is nine-tenth of the law, and due to the disparity in size, eventually most countries recognized PRC as the legitimate government of all of China rather than ROC. Eventually the UN and the US also recognized PRC as the legitimate government of all of China. Taiwan, as a part of China, is thus claimed as part of PRC, and US acknowledged that Taiwan is part of China in recognizing PRC, and abandoning ROC, and further agreed that the issue of Taiwan is an affair for the Chinese on both sides of the straits to resolve themselves. As ROC on Taiwan still exists, ROC still claims to be the legitimate government of all of China, and that Taiwan is a province of China. Thus we have the One China, different interpretations of the 1992 Consensus for Cross Straits reconciliation and relations between PRC and ROC. PRC will never change its name to ROC as long as the original ROC exists.

Which countries were powerful in the past but no longer are?

First one that comes to my mind is Afghanistan. Most people see it now as a, war-torn nation, but this image of Afghanistan wasn’t always the case for much of historyTo understand Afghanistan’s past power, it is important to know the main reason why holding onto this seemingly amorphous blob in the Hindu Kush would result in so much power for the ruling empire. This mainly comes from Afghanistan’s location in Asia.Right in the centre.Afghanistan is located right in the centre of the Asian continent, located between such economic giants as the Middle East, China and India, Afghanistan naturally grew to have a very large economy of its own. It was quite literally the economic centre of the world for a milennia or two:In an age where the best form of transportation was a horse, the fact that Afghanistan was located in such a central position made it an even more crucial economic hub to be able to control. This resulted in very large Afghan empires based from various cities in Afghanistan, such as the Kushans, under Kanishka the Great:the Ghurid (Shansabanid) empire:and very recently, the Durrani empire, which was the largest Muslim empire in the latter 18th century:Afghanistan’s power also resulted in its ability to project its influence through its military. In fact, the very word “Afghan” derives from the Sanskrit “Ashvakan” which translates to horsemen.Medieval Afghan empires were some of the first to adopt gunpowder, cannons, and other such military equipment. The crucial difference that gave Afghans an edge however was the sheer mobility of these units. For example the zamburak was a camel-mounted artillery unit that would prove decisive in cementing the Durrani empire’s power from Isfahan, Iran to Delhi, India. As well as the jezail, a type of gun that was adopted very early on by Afghans as was used to defeat the British in the Anglo-Afghan wars:Even the infantrymen were heavily armoured:If you still don’t believe of Afghanistan’s past power in the world, take a look at this map of the Mongol empire at its height:Why do the Mongol borders end at southern Afghanistan? Why were they not able to conquer India? This is due to the military power of the Khiljis (my own ancestors, I am a Khilji Pashtun) in defending this rather flat land from complete Mongol invasion right at its height.

Why did china become communist?

because in simple terms :: when a nation is and its people are taking to the cleaners ( exploited ) people turn to other promises of a better life like the russians italians the french etc, etc, the germans almost did in 1929 - 1930 but then comes hitler.
in short bloodsuckers of society make people look for
salvation

Do Chinese people know that Tibet was invaded rather than "peacefully liberated"?

Yes,I do. Tibet was invaded several time by UK AND India in 19 and 20 century. Fortunately, they did not success completely and finally got failed.Tibet has been a part for China since Yuan Dynasty till now for hundreds of years as a province or special district. In the first 40 years of 20 century, Tibet was ruled legally by the central government of China. After the civil war of China in 1946 to 1949, CCP won the war, made the new central government, and the old government of China went to Taiwan. As a part of China, the new CCP’s government (PRC government) inherited the sovereign right of Tibet. To make sure the steady of Tibet, Chinese government planned to make a smooth social structure transition in Tibet to transit its society from feudal serfdom system to modern society, instead of a rush revolution. However, the level of serf owner felt that their rule power and economy privilege were hurt. Since they still had some private armed forces on hands, they revolted and attacked the garrison. Some says that the CIA might play some ignominious roles in it but no detailed evidence as usual. The serf owner failed quickly and some of them managed to escape themselves to India and some other western countries. Some years later, Dalai Lama XIV also joined them. This is the real story in Tibet. Find a serious library in any place you can find, do some history research, you might understand some.Don’t treat the information form popular media as knowledge. It just news. People get real knowledge by reading, discussing and thinking. You should know at least the thousands of years of China and Tibetan area from official history but not popular books. You also need to know some about the history and Tibetan Buddhism to understand that Dalai Lama is a position not a specific person; the current Dalai Lama is the Dalai Lama XIV approved by central government according to religion regulation of Tibetan Buddhism, and he betrayed his country and traditions; the Dalai Lama inheritance system is only one of two religion leader inheritance systems in Tibet; the other religion leader in Tibet is Panchen Lama, and the Panchen Lama X, who passed away in 1990s, and this succeed one, Panchen Lama XI are real patriots and highly repected by Tibetan people.
