Why do curling wands work better than curling irons?

Better hold, Curling Iron or Curling Wand?
You need to use heat protectant before curling, otherwise your hair will become rough and brittle. A curling wand is much better and professional stylists use it precisely because it does a better curl and it lasts for longer, plus it's just faster and easier in general. Get a karmin clipless curling iron, that wand does the best curls ever, it has tourmaline in it so they stay longer. Use a light holding spray (no stiffness) after and DONT TOUCH the curls at all! The oils in your fingers will mess the curls up.

This is a very easy question. The answer is curling iron. Which does more damage to hair? They both cause the exact amount of damage. So a curling iron with a clamp will not fry your hair any more than a wand will. Stylsits will use wands because it's a little faster do use when we do someone's hair. Its especially good for updos. Buy we will use a glove on one hand that protects our fingers from the heat. You do NOT want to get a wand if you're doing your own hair. Wands are designed for using on someone else's hair. Trust me, holding your own hair with your fingertips a mere inch away from a 400 degree iron??That is why there is a clamp design. so you don't have to get your fingers near the iron. Very simple. Get a regular curling iron. But DO get a decent one from your local salon. The ones you can buy at walmart or your local store shouldn't even quality as curling irons. Curling wand versus curling iron?
I have both a curling iron and curling wand. It depends what kind you have and how hot it gets. You can do the same kind of curls that a wand makes with a curling iron. Instead of pressing down the clamp, wrap your hair around the curling iron and roll it up. I use my curling iron as a wand more than my curling wand, because my curling iron gets hotter. The hotter it gets, the better it stays. My recommendation is getting a 1 inch Hot Tools curling iron. Good luck!
Curling Iron vs Curling Wand?
Well, you could use a curling iron like a curling wand... You just don't use the clamp. I personally don't like curling irons because I am far too dumb to figure out how to not get the clamp kink. (Its an indent that forms in your hair from the clamp when you use it the wrong way.) Also, you can just buy a curling iron and remove the clamp, if it turns out to be cheaper that way. That's what I did when I found out I disliked the clamp. Doesn't damage the iron at all and it's really easy to do. Now for pros and cons... I think the Wands give off more natural looking curls. However, you need to be more careful because you're holding your hair to the wand. The Clamps give off more defined curls. Con...stupid clamp kink. But like I said, you can use a clamped one just like a wand, just don't use the clamp. I took the clamp off because it got in the way.
Curling Wand vs. Curling Iron?
With a curling wand, it will make S shaped curls and thats all. With a curling iron (one with a clamp) you can make S shaped curls if you just wrap the hair around the iron over top of the clamp but you could also make the typical curling iron curls if you use the clamp. If you want something that you can use to make 2 different types of curls then I would get the curling iron (with clamp) because one day if you don't want the clamp on there you can take if off by unscrewing the screws that are holding it in place. Which is better for curling, short thick hair, a wand, or a curling iron?
I would say the one you feel most comfortable working with. Personally I probably use a flat Iron but that’s just cause I feel most comfortable with an iron and I know just how to direct every stand of hair the way it should go and obviously it makes things a whole lot easier when you’re doing someone’s hair rather than your own. Don’t you just wish you could take your hair off, fo your hair, then pop your head right back on… I know right.Anyway, You should use the one you feel most comfortable working with because the end result will show how easy or difficult it was to get the hair the way it’s styled.A wand is less harsh on the hair than a curling iron since the hair is only wrapped around and not clamped, pulled and wound up. Anso be sure to not fry your ends while their clamped in the curling so long while you still waiting for the heat to work through the hair to reach the roots.I always open the clamp slightly and turn the iron - so the ends can get out of the clamp part - as soon as I wound the hair upA wond will also give a more natural look where a curling iron giveya more SET look.
