Does old-fashioned chivalry still exist in a modern world?
If you are a guy, tell me how you are gentlemanly to ladies. If you are a girl, tell me if you want a guy to be chivalrous to you. Any opinion would be welcome, including why you think chivalry should no longer be displayed, or why you think some girls get mad when a guy becomes chivalrous, or what kind of etiquette do you wish guys had...etc. :P Thanks!
Would you consider yourself old fashioned or modern?
hard !! i am as old fashioned as it gets,,if all of a sudden the world starts thinking its ok to harm me/family/you or your family,,i aint having it and will do what ever i can to stop it,right is right even if noone does it..however if you choose to have a relationship with someone of your own gender i dont give a rats A**,[as long as it aint in my livingroom]
Do you think the modern world relies too much on technology? Or not enough?
We rely on modern things far too much and are unable to cope when these things go wrong because the older alternative ways of doing things are almost all gone so that we have no choice about the way we do things. I had a hand turned sewing machine until last year - it was very old indeed but still worked. I donated it to a charity which took it to Africa where they prefer to use things which do not need electricity. Someone will now be earning her living in a little workshop in Africa using my sewing machine and I am really pleased to know that BUT if I was in the middle of making something and the power went off I would not be able to continue or, if mine had to go in for a repair I would previously have used the old one. We have nothing to fall back on when the new modern things go wrong and that is a bad thing. At least I can make toast in front of my gas fire if my toaster 'dies'. I actually do still have a toasting fork !!Even that fork would have been considered the height of technology at one time.
What is the difference between today's generation and old generation?
Old generation were blessed to breathe a cleaner air and enjoy more beautiful and eye-soothing beauty of nature.No T.V, No Internet. Hence more time to spend with family. More fun. More issues discussed. Better unity in family. Thus, joint families thrivedOutdoor games dominated. “My grandfather tells me often that even in scorching summer afternoons, he was dragged indoor forcefully.” Such was the craze for outdoors. This kept them more physically fit and healthy.No smartphones and no internet. Yet, the best of contact across miles. Hearts were together. Feelings were more real.Clothes have seen a great change. Men, here in Rajasthan, used to wear cotton dhotis. Unlike other people of his age, My grandfather hasn't switched to pants or pyjamas. I've never seen him wearing any of these things. He always carry his white dhoti in the same old traditional way.Old generation were lucky to have those strict punishments. They reminded them never to repeat the same mistake even in dreams. And yes, it prevented those pre-mature minds suffer the disadvantage of experience. Cricket bats, shoes, slippers, broomsticks and many other things were used by my mother to punish me. Now, my father makes fun saying, “Teri mummy ne apne bachpan ka badla tere bachpan pe nikal liya” (Your mother took revenge of her childhood punishments in your childhood.)Ladies used to make achaars (pickles), papad, mangodi, etc. This made children have great tasty stuff to eat at home itself.Morals were held very high. Quite a bit more than today.Yes, we have developed techniques and ideologies today. But I feel yesterday's generation has lot more to cherish. :-))_
Why can't people accept that our generation is just modern?
I am tired of hearing people old people complain about how useless and weak our generation is. Just because the older generation could walk crazy distances to work and back, doesn't mean we have to. We could, we just don't want to. We love our technology, this isn't the stone age, we are entitled to it. I may be a guy, but that doesn't mean I have to be able to carry a ton of bricks with one hand. Not all of us are disrespectful and mannerless. Just because some teens can't answer most of your geographical or general knowledge questions, it doesn't make them dumb. Just because some members of our generation don't take their lives seriously, it doesn't mean the rest of us lack motivation. Our morals and ethics are different from yours (yes some of us have them). There is nothing wrong with not caring what other people think of us. It's not being self centered to not let social norms dictate to you. Technology is the future, there's isn't anything wrong with being dependent on it. We are not mentally weak. Guys cry, there's nothing wrong with that. We are more open minded. Just because you don't like something because you were taught it was wrong, doesn't mean we have to. I think the youth deserves more credit then it is getting. We are different, but not pathetic and useless (at least some of us aren't.) I am tired of getting crapped on by older people for what I believe, or what other members of my generation are getting up to. Q: Why can't people accept that we are just modern and not closed minded.
Your thoughts on the modern world?
I'm 14, I have Facebook, I enjoy it, I have a phone, all that stuff BUT I hate the modern world? I literally rather live back in time where there was such thing as playing games and sports or loving your siblings and respecting adults or where there was only one love rather then ******* everyone in the hood. Then technology is going to crazy limits, like I get that companies need money but there are many things they could make such as shirts that don't look like bras or shorts that look like thongs. I just think that out generation is going NO WHERE. All my friends and people at my school, work at McDonalds, have had sex, etc. like where did all the teens with dreams and ambitions go??? What is your opinion on the modern world?
