Which Is The Best City In Germany To Visit

What are the best cities to visit in Germany?

I would add Koblenz to your list.  It's a nice place central in the Rhein valley.  Plenty of opportunities to try the local world-famous wines, there.Duesseldorf probably wouldn't be on my list - except for the Altstadt I don't feel that there is as much to see there.  You may have other good reasons for being there, though.Munich is worth it to get the feel of Bavarian culture, which is distinctly different from the rest of Germany.Berlin is one of my favourite cities in the world.I would also consider spending time in smaller towns in more out-of-the-way places, to get an idea of a different side of German culture.  Place like Goettigen, Hameln, and Marburg (there are plenty more)8 locations means you are spending 4 days in each, with one day travel between them.  That isn't too bad.

Which city in Germany should I visit with my mom?

Here is a little about us:
We are planning on staying for a week in october.
I am 17.
We don't like nightlife or big cities.
We want something peaceful and more on the family friendly side.
We do like beer lol but it's not a necessity.
Mom can't walk too long so the sights must be reachable by car/taxi.
I speak basic German.

We REALLY want to go, please help!! 10 pts!

What is the best city to visit in Germany?

Ooops, didn't notice so many were answering this, so I guess I have to throw my hometown in as well.
Nuremberg - Nürnberg.

It is a medium sized city, which I also moved to one of those in the US - I guess if you come from one of those its hard to change.

Nuremberg has a lot of history i fyou like that sort of thing. Good and bad. Progroms, great artists (Dürer among others), great inventors(first pocket watch and globe), place of first meeting of german emporers for hundreds of years, Nazi rally ground, toy museum, Nazy rally ground holocaust museum. Germanic Museum, art museums, opera, theaters, GREAT modern movie theater downtown (with bars and restaurants and IMAX underground)

And thats just the cultural stuff. Lots of clubs, dance halls, bars, restaurants in the unique old city center all surrounded by the longest still existing (well, rebuild of course) city wall with almost countless turrets and towers and of course the main castle on top of the hill.

Great food both german and international (esp Turkish, Greek, Italian, Chinese) and more. And of course the whole xmas market, gingerbread, Nuernberger sausages...

I guess it is obvious that I love and miss my hometown besides its mixed history and my mixed heritage as a german Jew.

What is the best city to visit in former East Germany?

The eastern part of Berlin was the capital of East Germany.  It contains most of Berlin's important historic buildings, has some interesting and attractive residential neighborhoods (with good restaurants, pubs and so on), and has world-class museums.  Eastern Berlin almost certainly has more to see and do than smaller former East German cities such as Dresden or Leipzig, though you should consider a day trip to nearby Potsdam, a charming small city full of the palaces of the former kings of Prussia.

What is the smallest city in germany?

My backyard

Which German city is the best? coldest?

There isn't much variation in Germany's weather patterns at all. It's full-blown four seasons: very cold in winter, but also hot in summer.

What's "best" depends on what your preferences. Munich is known for a historic and monumental city center, which is nonetheless surrounded on all sides by suburban/rural conservatives. Berlin sprawls over vast, disparate neighborhoods, but it is also very media-saavy and energetic. Frankfurt is Europe's #1 place for skyscapers and modern structures, but it also has a reputation as a rather dull down-to-business city.

It varies depending on your experiences, of course...but personality wise, I'd say German-U.S. comparisons are similar to the following:

Berlin = Los Angeles
Dusseldorf = Seattle
Hamburg = Chicago
Frankfurt = a cross between Houston's culture and New York's skyline
Munich = Washington-Baltimore-Virginia
Cologne = San Francisco
