Are claims of Krrish being India's first superhero genuine?
No.firstly, There were Some Indian comic book superheroes such as Nagraj , Doga, Super commando Dhruva etc. But Unfortunately Their popularity couldn’t escape comic books.There were some movies like Maharaja and Mister India but they didn’t fit in the traditional definition of superheroes Because they didn’t have costumes.The first Superhero in India to gain popularity was Shaktiman so we can say that he was the first Indian Superhero. However , Krrish was the first Superhero in mainstream media (Movies) and that is why he was marketed as the first genuine Indian superhero. I hope that answers your question .Another thing I want to say is that I personally believe that ‘a genuine superhero’ must be present in all formats (Comics, Cartoons, TV, live action Movies). This removes all mentioned superheroes (Nagraj, Shaktiman,Krrish) from being a genuine ones. In addition, All Indians superheros are copied from DC/Marvel. Shaktiman=Superman, Gangadhar=Clark Kent ,Geeta=lois lane. Krrish= Flash+Superman in Batman like costume .
