Which Name Is Better Homer Ulysses Or Omar

Whats a good nickname for omar ?

Ho - Oh!

Is Ulysses a good name for my boy?

I think its cool.

But for some reason the first thing that comes on my mind is Greek.

Which name is better: Homer, Ulysses, or Omar?

Ulysses. Homer has the Simpsons affiliation. Omar is okay, but Ulysses has the heroic Odyssey ties and was the first name of US president Grant, definitely elevates it above the rest. Plus it has more versatile nickname options.

Is Omar a forbidden name in Iran?

No its not officially. However, its not respected or liked at all. Since most Iranians, according to many Islamic historical recordings, think of Omar as the man who disrespected and suffer Fatima and Ali ibn abi talib (the only daughter of prophet of Islam and his son in-law ) to an unacceptable extend (referring to the alleged slap by Omar to Fatima)They also believe that the alleged rush and strike by Abu bakr to the Ali and Fatima house regarding taking allegiance, caused the the door to hit the Fatima who was expecting a baby and that resulted to her miscarriage and death. Shia also have a slightly different respect for the daughter prophet, meaning that they perceive the idea that somebody has disrespected the daughter of prophet as insane and unforgivable no matter if that person was from his companion.(The above quote is from the Prophet of Islam with regards to his daughter)Since there are several historical recording for these events, they see no objection on not believing them.

My name is Omar, because of this, people in Europe think I am muslim. Should I change my name so that people don't get the wrong message of me?

I'm a Australian white dude named “Omar” after of course Omar Sheriff and Omar Khiam (persion poet amongst other things) both of which my mother loved.I swear I must be the only white Omar in Australia if not the world perhaps but every person that meets me expected a turban wearing fella with curly “Arabic” knife to rock up. Pretty sure it's caused a few of my girlfriend fathers over the years to crack a sweat before meeting me.So in my case raised eyebrows at airport security would be occasional but I've never once been labelled anything remotely religious although I must admit hearing a Terriorrist attack carried out by a “Omar Mohammed …….” Or something does make me cringe that my next airport transit won't be so kind. It's a wonderful name, unique and one of Egypts most popular names and it shouldn't matter what religion you are to have it. After all many names are religious based anyway so personally I wouldn't worry too much about it.Just my view. Good luck!
