Which Nba General Manager Am I

What would you do if you were an NBA General Manager?

NBA general managers make a lot of money. More importantly, they have absolutely fascinating workdays. Most importantly, there are only 30 such jobs in the world. As with coaches, GMs are “hired to be fired”. There’s also no guarantee that, once fired, a GM ever gets hired by any other team. (For a President example, ask Sam Hinkie!)The vast majority of people, including probably me, as NBA GM, would do everything possible to hold onto the job. This is a classic example of the principal-agent problem: in which the employer/patron/owner (ownership) and the employee/negotiator (GM) have sometimes conflicting incentives. To minimize this conflict, management performance incentives or other clauses can be added to a contract. In an executive compensation setting, the cost of negotiating these clauses (a few thousand dollars?) is worth far less than the GM’s salary, the team’s revenue, or a winning season.I would do what ownership wants while trying to make the team as good as possible, as efficiently (time and money-wise) as possible.Any further decisions, I’d need to be told which team I’m managing. Only the above applies league-wide.

Trade a teammate in my career NBA 2K14 PS3?

-___- if you don't play the game don't answer. Down the line, when you gain trust and become the star of your team, you get the option in GM Sit Down to complain about a certain player on the team. During the interview, your GM asks you is it a situation that needs to be resolved by shaking up the roster. You say yes, he says you're the star of the team and the building block and if you feel a certain player doesn't fit, he'll make a move. You also get to pick 5 players, any player, at the end of the season for your franchise to go after. But you can get people traded. You have to say you don't get along with a certain player.

What are the best jobs a general manager could take in sports if potential legacy were the most important criteria?

To me, there are only even a handful of jobs that could potentially qualify for this honor. NFL: 49ers, Cowboys, Jets (maybe), Raiders, Redskins, BearsMLB: Mets (maybe), Cubs, Dodgers (maybe)NBA: KnicksUltimately, I think the Cowboys and Redskins are too wrapped up in their ownership, that it would obfuscate the impact of the GM. At this stage, if someone were to build a title in "the Raider Way" but now in the memory of Al Davis, it would be a monumental GM achievement. In MLB, the Cubs job counts the most - hard to argue otherwise. In the NBA, there are other franchises that have had some difficulty, but love 'em or hate 'em, the Knicks are one of the most beloved franchises in sports for a team with a history of minor success, major frustration and recent futility. Add in the fact that it's the only NYC team (sorry, BK Nets) and a city that pines for a championship (as well as one of the few big markets in America outside of LA and Chicago) where a sizable % of the population would actually name the NBA franchise as their favorite local team, and in my opinion, no other NBA job is even close. So ultimately, my rank is:CubsKnicksRaiders

What degree should you get to become a general manager of an NBA or an NFL team? How do you even get the position (connections, climbing your way up the ladder, etc.)?

I can only speak to the NFL, which I follow closely.  I am unsure if the NBA follows a similar model or not.  In the NFL, general managers usually work their way up the ladder through various personnel positions.  "Personnel" in this context means the inflow and outflow of players -- not random employees of the team.  This is important, because potential G.M.s need to understand player dynamics and have a good nose for sniffing out talent that others may have missed; they must also understand contract negotiation. The first stage of this process is usually as a local area scout.  These are the men and women who travel a local area viewing games and scouting the various players.  They decide which players are impressive enough to report to their bosses.  If a local area scout succeeds at his job, he or she may move up the ladder to become a regional or nationwide scout.  After this, he or she may become a director or VP of college scouting, or pro/player personnel.  The main difference between being a director/VP of college scouting and pro personnel is that a pro personnel employee scouts players on current NFL rosters, whereas a college scouting employee scouts potential draftpicks and undrafted free agents from the college ranks.  As a director/VP, they delegate much of the actual scouting to lower level employees, but they are the decision-makers who pass on their choices to the G.M.  This is the current scouting/personnel department of the San Francisco 49ers:(Source:  49ers.com | Front Office)A successful director or VP in pro personnel or scouting generally has opportunities to become a G.M.For an additional breakdown, see:  What Does Each Team's Front Office Member Do? As far as college degrees, they vary from business degrees to sports management degrees to everything in between.  There are no real prerequisites for a general manager job, as far as I can tell -- other than a high degree of intelligence and aptitude for the job; a good nose for sniffing out talent; and a drive to succeed.

How many hours does a general manager work?

They typically work between 8 to 10 hours per day, but it depends on the company. Thanks to TimeCamp, they can check how many hours they work as managers – either on a computer or a mobile device. TimeCamp is an application which helps track the duration and type of activities of a device user.TimeCamp reports the activities which lower or boost their activity. It tracks time spent on their work automatically, either on a desktop or a laptop. On a mobile device, they can track time manually. And if in their work they don’t always use computer or a mobile device, they can always add your time to the reports manually. You can learn more about tracking working hours as a manager on our blog - The Top 5 Reasons To Start Tracking Time As A Project Manager.Kamil Rudnicki, CEO of TimeCamp

What would be a reasonable difference in the salary of an assistant manager and a general manager?

It could depend on a lot of things. I’ve seen huge disparities (thousands of dollars) between assistant manager and general manager salaries. One major factor is the span of responsibility. The higher the level, the more strategic the role. I recommend using indeed or glassdoor to compare salaries for the specific industry and roles you are referencing.
