Which Part Of Puerto Rico Has The Friendliest People

How ethnically diverse are your friends? (for people in countries with a significant foreign immigrant population)?

Here goes: Danish, Serbian, Scottish, Nigerian, Latvian, Trinidadian, Jamaican, Ashkenazi, Israeli, Pakistani, Indian, Sri Lankan, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Turkish. These are a few of the more interesting places my friends were born. The complete list is probably twice as long.It also happens that my DNA is just as diverse.

Are Puerto Ricans friendly people?

Im puerto rican and the realistic thing to tell you is that all countires in the world have different people in it, their might be nice puerto ricans and their might be rude puerto ricans. Its not like all puerto ricans are nice and all are rude...it all depends on the person. This is for all countries Ive met cubans that are nice people while I met a few that are not and so it is for all of us people. I mean when I use to live in puerto rico I know there is a lot of white people living in san juan and asians in private school or in restaurants and arabs in business and they are treated equally I never saw any discrimination or rudeness towards them, they are like part of us and some are even born in puerto rico. Then again their might be a few puerto ricans that are mean and like to bully others but thats just their personality nothing to do with culture.

Why should I never visit Puerto Rico?

Dont have to be afraid of visit Puerto Rico, I have been in worse places, like Kabul, Afganistan. This country is in continous war. Some areas of Africa and Middle East where are focuses of infectious deseases, like malaria. The high crime rate in Puerto Rico is based in the war for control of drugs distribution points called “Puntos”, drugs related crimes is the only danger that may have .

Miami vs Fort Lauderdale vs West Palm Beach vs Puerto Rico to move to?

Well let's see. As of right now it's nearly impossible to find a job expecially in Miami Dade County. The unemployment rate right now in South Florida has reached 8.1% since December 08 , higher than the national unemployment rate of 7.2%. So that means 752,000 are jobless right now. In the tri-county area, Palm Beach County had the highest unemployment rate, with 7.8 percent, followed by Miami-Dade, with 7 percent, and Broward, with 6.8 percent. Most companies are cutting jobs right now so it's going to be quite hard for your mom to find a job because now she has to compete with a whole bunch of people who probably want the same position.

As for a 3 bedroom apartment the average rent would be about $1600 a month and that's in Fort Lauderdale (Broward County). As for Palm Beach (Palm Beach County) the average rent for a 3 bedroom apartment is about the same but maybe about $1700 a month since Palm Beach is technically a better area. Now Miami is a big city and it's divided into smaller cities so if depends which area of Miami you move to. Some area's are prone to crime and poverty so the average rent for a good area there would be about $1500 if you leave in a decent area. Also out of all three counties Broward County has the best school board from what I know.

I have no experience living in Puerto Rico but I'd imagine it's nothing like the cities here and that's just a guess.

Adjusting to Florida is typically easy since there are many cultures here but if you live in Miami you will mostly encoutner spanish people or people from the islands/carribean and of course the Florida natives.

As of the weather here it's typically the same all year round but in the winter time we get a couple cold fronts which makes it cool and nice. From the end of May to November it's Hurricane Season/Rainy Season and sometimes we get a hurricane or two. We haven't had any major ones hit South Florida in about 3-4 years now so were on the lucky side.

What are the nicest towns of Puerto Rico? What are they known for?

Old San Juan, the original Spanish fort part of San Juan (Puerto Rico’s capital), is an amazing place to visit. The fort has a dramatic, cliff-like wall and spectacular harbor views, there’s a cemetery next to the ocean, and historic homes with intricate wood-carved doors and bright colors. If you visit Puerto Rico it is essential to spend some time in Old San Juan. I was there briefly (without my camera) and only was able to take a few pictures with my old Blackberry, but it still looks pretty niceOld San Juan, Puerto Rico

Why did we keep Puerto Rico but let go of Cuba, Philippines, Nicaragua, Haiti and the Dominican Republic?

All of these were territories at one point in the 19th or 20th century why did we keep Puerto Rico but let the rest go. Keeping Cuba, Dominican Republic and Haiti would have made more sense as they are closer to mainland USA

Puerto Rican boyfriend is taking me to San Juan to meet family and friends- nervous! Advice please?

Hey guys,
My boyfriend moved to Miami from San Juan when his mom lost her job as some big shot lawyer down on the island during the stock market crash. We've been dating since we were both 14 and now we're both 17. Over summer I'll be going with him to PR. But I'm really, really nervous.

First you need to understand that I come from a very anglo-saxon (white) part of Florida. I am short and blonde with short hair and blue eyes but I definitely have the "body" of a Latina.. I absolutely love the Spanish culture and language but I find it hard to speak with good grammar and conjugations.

I also get a very mixed reaction from Latinos. In Columbia, everyone was friendly and accommodating. Mexico seemed like more of one giant business transaction, but when they weren't selling things they seemed to be very "overly" friendly. I had a situation a year ago on a cruise ship where a bunch of Argentinean high school boys at a mass Quinceneara spent all their party time stalking me. (I had seriously mixed emotions about that, ha.) The girls are generally rude to me to my face and behind my back. The boys say sh*t like "I love you" and behind my back don't take me seriously. I'm like a big sex object.

It has taken a long time to get his parents to care for me. (They say they do to him but dont show it.) His extended family is way awkward also. His friends say I'm pretty but call me a gringa. My Cuban friend saiid they will treat me badly in PR. Any advice or experiences?
