Which Speaker Port Would You Connect The Subwoofer

Can I connect my two-wire sub to an RCA subwoofer port on my receiver?

I just bought a receiver (Sony STR-DH810) and I would like to use the speaker set from my cheap all-in-one home theater in a box setup. The non-powered sub that I currently have uses two wires that connect to red/black tab-input-hole things. The only subwoofer input on my new receiver is for an RCA. Is there any way to use my cheap non-powered sub with this receiver? Can I get an RCA adapter to connect to one end of my sub's speaker wire?
Thanks!

How do I connect 3 Sony stereo speakers, 1 being a sub-woofer, to my t.v. The wires that are connected to the speakers don't have connectors because I cut them, so do I need to buy something to put on the end of the wires? Thanks

You'll need to provide more information, starting with the make and model of the television as well as the model of the Sony speakers and the sub.

How do I hook these speakers up?

Can I connect a 5.1 speaker with a 3.5 mm jack to my TV? The TV has a 3.5 mm output jack. Will it be as good as a 5.1 home theatre system?

Yes you can connect it but you will not get separate sound in all five speakers, what you get is stereo sound of two channels spread in all five speakers.5.1 means there are 5+1 audio channels recorded sound, whereas centre speaker is normally used for vocals, left and right for panning of sound, left surround & right surround for effects and subwoofer takes care of only lower bass frequency of all the channels. So it possible if your TV supports 5.1 (AC3) coding with optical output then you can have separate audio in all speakers like cinema theatres. If you are using set-top box with dish antenna, they normally have 5.1 surround output and if your home theatre system has optical output you can get 5.1 surround transmitted signal on your home system.

How to connect a powered subwoofer to a yamaha receiver?

How do I connect F&D 5.1 speakers to Sony Bravia TV?

Hi,The panel of the TV shown here is is also “INPUT”.So basically your TV does not have a 5.1 out that is identical to our Audio system’s input panel as shown here. The TV either has a headphone jack for OUTPUT OR an Optical Audio Out.If you note, the 5.1 input on your audio system mentions DVD. Usually DVD players have discreet Outputs for 5.1 channels. You can use a Stereo to RCA Cable like the one below to connect your TV’s headphone out to the audio system’s RED/WHITE “AUX” jack.By doing this, you will allow your audio amplifier to split the 2 channels of audio into 5.1 channels.Image Source: Random Google Search that led to this page: 1 5 Meter 2RCA Male To 3 5mm Male Stereo Cable GreyHope this helps.

Can I connect a subwoofer to the preamp subwoofer output directly, without an amplifier?

You can use the preamp to the subwoofer however now you run the risk of losing the tightness of the base with longer preamp wires. My suggestion would be to use the speaker outputs of your receiver to the speaker inputs of your subwoofer (if your subwoofer has speaker inputs). What you will get is a much more natural sounding and tighter base response. If you don’t believe me then try it both ways and comment back which sounds better. Also the subwoofer woofer should be within an arc of the front speakers. Also don’t fire the speaker towards you fire it perpendicular to the listener.Praise I AM,Michael Idarecis
