Which Type Of Gore Tex Boots Should I Buy For The Snowy Winter Days

What are good shoes/boots for men to wear for snow and (cold) rain?

The best shoes or boots for cold weather, snow and wet conditions are shoes or boots with some form of insulation and waterproofing such as Gore-Tex or other waterproof materials. In cold and wet conditions you want complete waterproofing to avoid frostbite. The degree of insulation and insulation materials will depend on how cold the conditions are. Snow boots and some hiking boots and shoes offer excellent waterproofing and insulation which is perfect for cold and wet conditions. You can have a look at the Keen Targhee 2 Mid-calf boot in the article Best Hiking Shoes for Backpackers and Travelers - The 2017 Must Have List.

Compare/contrast waterproof vs. non-waterproof hiking boots?

I am looking into getting a new pair of hiking mids. I know that I want Keens because I have tried them on, the reviews are good but I am stuck between 2 styles: the Voyageurs and the Targhee II. The Targhee II is the waterproof one. I would be using these for light backpacking and hiking a lot.

I was told that it would be good to have a non-waterproof breathable boot with Gor-Tex socks for when you need them (those are also expensive though) and then be able to wear light socks when its dry and hot. On the flip side I really wouldn't be able to wear them in the fall or early spring when its a little colder right? I also contemplated using them for some (warmer weather) winter hiking but I don't know how reasonable this would be with non-waterproof shoes. I just don't know which I should go with for a more multi-purpose boot.

Any help or shared experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Can you wear Hunter rain boots hiking and camping?

Every year, we go camping for a week during the summer. Before, I have just gone to target and bought a cheap pair of cute polka dotted rain boots to wear camping and hiking. After that week each time, they all had gotten ripped, or there was a hole in them, or something. It gets super hot each time- around 90 to 100 F outside, and very humid. It doesn't usually rain too much at all when we go, I just like that rain boots keep me from getting poison ivy because of how tall they are, they keep dirt and stuff out of my shoes, and they are super easy to take on and off. I am thinking about buying a pair of nice "Hunter" brand boots this year, so I could just wear them for all of our camping trips from this summer on. I do realize that Hunter rain boots are for RAIN and SNOW, which later on in winter and on rainy days I will use them for, I am just wondering if hot, humid weather, and camping would ruin them. I understand that in hot weather they "bloom" a little, but I am wondering that after a week they may go into like, blooming overdrive? Also, would hiking in rocks, and dry dirt, and twigs, etc, would make their life shorter? Obviously they are pricey because of their awesome quality, so I don't want to buy them, then use them for an experience not intended for their purpose, therefore shortening their lifespan, or just straight up ripping them or something. So to sum it up, I want to know if I can buy and expensive pair of Hunter brand Rain boots, and rely on them to stay in good quality this summer, and for summers to come, camping and hiking. I am not rich, and I don't want to spend money on a pair of expensive rain boots, for me to use them in the wrong way and waste them. Thanks for your answers!!!

How is the winter weather in Boston?

it is not like cali at all. it snows alot, and if it doesnt snow its just really cold. normally it starts getting cold in october/november and then starts to get warm in like march/april. you shouldnt base going or not going to college on the weather though. if you get into a good college here that you like itll be worth it.

How to dress for winter in Seattle (Dec/Jan)?

I live near Seattle now, and I used to live in Colorado. For snow, wear something that is as water repellent as possible, but still breathable, to get rid of sweat; severe cold + sweat = rapid hypothermia. Gore-Tex is great stuff, as is Polar-tec.

For Seattle, a Polar-tec jacket or something similarly capable of being layered is very useful. A parka with a hood is useful as well; only tourists carry umbrellas unless it is REALLY pouring. It helps to wear bright colors; Seattle can be very gray in December, and we only get about 8 hours of daylight, and you want to be visible on the streets, so wear light-colored things. Plastic shoe-covers can be useful if you're going to be outdoors a lot; otherwise, your Uggs should do just fine.

You don't have to go all the way to Canada for skiing (unless you just want to, of course); there is great skiing in the Cascades just east of Seattle!!

What are the best boots to wear in extreme cold?

Many suggest that one should stay away from 100% synthetic fabrics if sporting activities in conditions below —15 degrees Celsius. The theory being that the vapour from your feet will freeze between the layers and cool you feet and make the boots heavy with ice. I have experience this once and ended up skiing with two completely iced-down skiing boots. We were cross country skiing across a mountain in Troms and sleeping in tent for about a week and the shoes made every day suck. I used the Alfa Bever Pro boots when not skiing and have never had that problem with those even if they were combined GoreTex and leather. The boot it self is some of the most rugged I have seen and for many years they were only available to some selected troops of the Norwegian army (still is if you want them in all black I think). The shoe managed to survive 8 years with me. Which I consider to be extremely good as they were heavily used and often soaked. https://www.alfa.no/bever-pro-ad...I am now trying Varg Isogaisa, they are less agile (stiffer and less grip) but I have only had them for a year so the final judgement is not clear. http://www.oslosportslager.no/pr...Remember to buy it big so you can fit big woolen socks in there and still wiggle your toes. The air is the best isolation.

What are the best hiking boots under $100?

Check out Cabelas.com...I just ordered winter insulated athletic type boots that are ankle high, water proof and protect to negative 45 degrees. Wore them to Copper Mountain Ski Village in Colorado last weekend and they were comfy and warm. Cabellas has their own brand of products that are not advertised so thy are a lot cheaper but just as good as name brands like columbia.
Check them out....
