Is IGNOU a good university for a master's?

I think IGNOU is an excellent university to do Masters program from. Its Masters program in Economics  and Masters in Maths, psychology, Politics, Public Administration, etc are highly rated.  Its  MCA (Masters in computer application) even has an AICTE recognition. Study Material is extremely good, easy to understand, and made by PHDs level scholars specifically for self study purpose.Add to that, the university is very well organised. Its the biggest university in the world by student strength. You receive Hall tickets and other notification in time.Its for serious students who are motivated to work hard and study. The best part is that fees is very low. Plus they also have developed online admission system. Which means you can simply upload documents on its website and get admission.In my experience, IGNOU is one of the best universities in the country. About its recognition, it was created by the Act of Parliament 1985.Edit -  Sorry , I did not see you have mentioned " If one wishes to do Phd later"So let me tell you that there are many IAS officers who have studied from Ignou and have praised its study materials. And have given credit to Ignou for their success.Also, Ignou offers Phd in various fields through distance education. Also, its degrees are recognized by all Indian universities. And are valid for higher education. So a person with Masters/ Mphil from Ignou  is eligible for Phd program in any other Indian university.

How you define a good university ? A university is a good one or bad one , I think it is a personal prospective of individuals. Views my differ place to place , person from person.Indira Gandhi National Open University known as IGNOU, is a Central University located at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, India. Named after former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi , the university was established in 1985 with a budget of ₹20 million, after the Parliament of india passed the Indira Gandhi National Open University Act, 1985 (IGNOU Act 1985). IGNOU is run by the central government of India, and with total active enrollment of over 4 million students, claims to be the largest university in the world.But if we look in to the support structure IGNOU provide for students then yes IGNOU is a good university. Whole working body works as one both regional center and study center. IGNOU is among those universities which are valid in foreign countries after NIT's and IIT's.IGNOU gives you so many options in programmes. You can complete your BA(Hons.) from more then 10 subjects. Over 30 Master's programmes , 10 MPhil , over 40 PhD programs. PG diploma , UG certificate course etc. No university give you that many option.I had my differences with study centers , but never with university. You can apply for re-evaluation , copy of your answer script , on demand exam , early checking of your answer script etc.I don't know about regular universities , but as an open university no other university can over Shadow IGNOU.

If you are to select between Mumbai University and IGNOU for an MCom, what would your choice be and why?

I would prefer Mumbai University over IGNOU because regular masters program promises an interactive classroom experience which ceases after post graduation. IGNOU is a good option for those who seek to gain work experience along with their studies.

Which university is better for a correspondence graduation, IGNOU or SOL DU?

Thank u for asking dis question becoz I think I m d best one to answer dis …Secondary nd HIGHER SECONDARY (PCM)from CBSE BOARD nd passed with good marks.After that due to some personal problems I cannot continue my studies in Science stream.But I have to something for myself den one of my friend suggests me to do graduation from SOL DU in COMMERCE STREAM because in PCM den is no scope of study during ur working hours so I select B.COM(HONS).After completing my graduation wid good numbers wid d help of my friend because he taught me everything means everything.Again I have to do something den I joined IGNOU for PG nd right now dis is my last year.The main difference between both the institute's mainly is the brand name IGNOU> SOL DU.U can get IGNOU exam centres anywhere but for SOL DU u should have to visit DELHI for examination.Their is no difference in fee structure.The study material of IGNOU is better than SOL DU because they preferred high profile professor nd teachers but in SOL DU the material is not UpTo the mark.In IGNOU u have to study but in SOL DU u just have to read last year solved sample papers nd u score good marks.I prefer SOL DU because I like to travel so for 1 month I had to take leave from office nd enjoy wid my friends.I don't say that IGNOU is good nd SOL DU is bad because for me both are equal I m just showing u the differences between them nd choice is always be urs.12. Again I want to do something so in dis year I think I should start my MBA after my PG exams.Thanks nd if there is any error suggest me.

Which one is better, IGNOU or SOL?

Note : The answer is same as one my earlier answer given to similar question.I don't know much about SOL therefore cannot compare it with IGNOU but as I’m currently pursuing my BA from IGNOU thus gonnq list few advantages of IGNOU.Well known with all the programmes approved.Easy admission, re-admission, Examination form submission, assignments submission and other processes. Most of these can be done online.Nominal Fee.Quality study material.In case you lose your study material, you can buy guides from GPH, Neeraj or other publication house online.30% marks are of assignments and rest of examination. Assignments are similar to examination question papers (i.e like sample question paper) therefore while doing assignments you are also preparing for examination.Examination(or TEE) are held in June and December therefore you can take admission according to your requirements or can give any TEE (june or december) from 2nd year of your programme.You can select your examination centre in any city, while filling examination form.Any query and doubts can be easily got answered by visiting study centres. Every centre has a coordinator and other staff for IGNOU students.Study centers are present even in very remote locations and you can easily find a study centre within 15 kms from your residing place.Study centre can also be changed later.If you want to pursue BA /B.Sc degree, then you can have your BA/B.Sc in any particular subject (called majors, like honours), just like I’m having my BA in Political Science or you can also opt for general BA/B.Sc.

Which is the best for distance education, IGNOU or SMU?

I think Ignou is the Best one. For one - It was created by the Act of Parliament 1985. So all its programs are well recognized by different universities for pursuing higher education and and also by industries for jobs.Getting admission in Ignou is really easy. They have online admission system. You can simply upload your documents at IGNOU Online Admission and secure admission.(Deadline is 17th August without late fee and 30 August with late fee). Or you can take your documents to regional centre for admission.The best part is its study material. They are designed by professionals and PHDs/ experts in fields. So The content is of high quality. Since they are specially made for self study , they are easy to understand. You receive study material by courier. Infact you receive even exam hall ticket and I card by post and well in time. Or else you can download them from web site. In short, all processes are simplified. For any other queries, you can seek help from your regional centre.But Ignou is for those you are sincere in studies. For exams are more difficult than Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) for sure. Also, you need to have submitted your assignments in time. Or else you won’t be allowed to appear in that particular subject’s exam. In other words passing SMU exams is a lot more easier.In my opinion, If you want more knowledge and study not just for the sake of having a degree certificate, then IGNOU is your way. But if you want easy way then go for SMU. I am no way devaluing SMU degree, but in my personal opinion, Ignou is better.Also, you can go to ignou regional centre and have a look at study material of your course you intend to study.
