White And Black Lump On Wisdom Tooth Extraction Stitches

White spot after wisdom tooth extraction?

I got my wisdom teeth out 6 days ago, everything seems to be doing fine, and my teeth don’t really hurt me too much
but my throat is killing me and has been for about 3 days, it really hurts to swallow and even talk
I can hardly open my mouth still, like I can just put my finger in it and it doesn’t go wider than that (when will this change btw?)
But I opened it as wide as I could and looked in with a flashlight and right where my mouth has been hurting is a white spot. It’s not too big but I’m pretty sure it’s what’s making me hurt
Since its December 23rd my oral surgeon’s office is closed until Monday…
So what is it, and how can I make it go away or stop hurting? I’ve been rinsing my mouth out with salt water, but what else?
Thanks!

Is white stuff on your wisdom tooth extraction site normal? I'm on my third day of recovery. One of my teeth was decayed when they pulled it. Is it going to be more swollen for longer?

Yes it's normal. It is the blood clot that is formed and it turmed like that for the healing process. Be careful not to eat hard food or drink beverages that could dislodge the blod clot because you could get an infection. The swelling should last about 3 to 4 days

Dry Socket after wisdom tooth extraction?

I had SIX wisdom teeth removed recently, so I know all about it. First of all, bleeding and oozing are normal, as well as throbbing and aching in nearby areas. If you are bleeding excessively however, you could get a dry socket. This can best be avoided by:

- Not drinking from straws
- Avoiding hot liquids
- refraining from spitting
- And of course, not smoking. As you said though, quitting is nearly impossible for you.

And above all, don't touch, pick at or squeeze your sockets or anywhere near them. Just keep rinsing with salt water after each smoke, and you should be fine.

What can I do if a blood clot came out of my wisdom tooth extraction?

It’s sometimes difficult to understand whether we the Dental professionals are educating the public or misinforming them about oral hygiene and dentistry at large particularly on social media.I wonder the reason people relying more on social media than on their doctor. Critics of my answers find them derogatory and sarcastic. But I am proved right most of the times. Now, as far as this query is concerned, forget the patient even the treating doctor would find it difficult to see clot getting dislodged. My sincere aim in answering such questions on Quora is to educate the public and allay their apprehensions. The social media is not the ideal platform to look for remedy of any health issues. The medical science is based upon history, clinical examination and investigations. The blood clot usually disintegrates (if it’s to happen) on 2nd or 3rd postoperative day.The clot disintegrates and dissolve due to various pathological factors. It doesn’t come out a single piece. Neither does it bleed after the primary clot dislodge. The doctor would find the wound dehiscence and greyish yellow extracted tooth socket, surgical wound wide open and the patient would complain of excruciating pain not relieved with stongest painkillers.Any patient lacking severe pain should worry the least. If Patient experiences pain, foul odor, he must contact his doctor immediately. Because the patient is most likely having “Dry Socket”.The Treatment includes to cover the bare socket and promote healing by local measures. To summarize Dry socket is one of the frequent complications of surgical/ traumatic extraction of any Mandibular tooth particularly wisdom tooth. The condition is treated within 5–7 days on medical intervention.Self medication or diagnosis must be discouraged.I hope my answer would help the person asking for it and the public at large.

Yesterday I had a tooth extraction and now you can see white in the extraction site. I Googled it and now I am freaking out it could be a dry socket.

no no no. youre fine.. I know that there is information and pictures online that can lead you to believe its dry socket because the white looks the same but there is white tissue in the healing process also.I did get dry socket the first time I ever had teeth pulled. my wisdom teeth..(I dont recommend all 4 at once) and that pain I will not ever forget. I still panicked though the last extraction I had recently because I googled stuff and saw the white in the socket. but it wasnt dry socket. you can stop worrying though because worst case scenario is getting dry socket, but as soon as you get to the dentists office they put a medicine packet in the socket and youre good to go. you wont die.have you ever had a dry socket before ? i dont know if I was as panicked about it before I got it but I assumed I wouldn't because I quit smoking and followed the aftercare instructions and I still got it anyway. I was so pissed. It's all about getting a good blood clot formation the initial moment they place the gauze on the area and tell you to bite down on it for a good 45 minutes to an hour. well I did something wrong because the blood never stopped when I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled the same day and I was drowning in it. ew

Wisdom tooth stitches?

Good news: you won't be getting a dry socket - infection like that kicks in two days after the extractions at the latest (its to do with lack of blood clotting in the socket)

As for the stitches they will do no harm being there for a while - I'd advise you not to try and remove them yourself, you would need to cut through one side with scissors and then pull it out from the knot, however its very difficult to get to the back of your mouth without messing it all up. If you need to get them seen urgently then just go to a normal high street dentist - it will take 5 mins max to get it removed and they should see you if you ask nicely.

The symptoms you describe from the socket is perfectly normal - healing is uncomfortable (you must have had a scab before ;) ) - but it isn't painful, its expected that it will feel strange for about two weeks following removal.

What should i do if stitches come out 3 days after wisdom tooth removal?

Salam

suturing is to make the socket edges closer to eachother, this will help to fasten the healing by primary intention, but if the edges are far, it does not mean it will not heal ! , it will , but needs more time to close the socket.

just be careful not to remove the flap,or open it,

if you have no pain, and you do not see any bone, then do not worry.

keep your oral health good, good brushing and mouth washing ( salt water ) is enough .

do not try to explore the area, you may make a problem this way.

regarding your teeth ache, try to describe the pain, where ? when? the pain charecterstics ? sharp - dull , throbbing? radiating to where? continuos pain?intermittent? getting more or same or less? what makes it more? what you do to make it less?

good luck

Gum is split after tooth extraction?

i had a tooth pulled on may 22, it was the very back lower molar on the right side, the last one before the wisdom tooth. I went to a dentist that is fairly new in the practice, ive been to her before and didnt have a problem, the pain went away almost immediately. Well this tooth cracked when i bit down on a piece of ice, and i went to her, she gave me two options, either a root canal and cap, or to pull it. I told her to pull it, since i have a strong fear of the drill and didnt want it anywhere near me. She injected three full syringes of Novocaine into my jaw in nine different places, and once my face was numb, she started pulling. She used four different pliers and three tools to push on the tooth until it popped loose. She said i would be fine and showed me the tooth, which was whole, no splits or anything. She sent me home with a prescription for vicoden and some penicillin. once the bleeding stopped about eight hours later, i examined the hole with a flashlight and mirror, and saw that the inside of my gum was cracked, like she pushed too hard and split the skin. It is still split, not bleeding, but it has a sharp edge i can feel with my tongue. I also have a dull ache in my jaw where the hole is, but the hole has started to close so i dont have dry socket. The hole is mostly pink now instead of black. Every time i swallow, i feel the wisdom tooth scrape against my tongue, and i can feel the sharp edge of the split gouge my tongue, like it still has part of the tooth in it, but like i said i saw the tooth, it was whole. Is this something i should be worried about?

This is my fourth tooth to be pulled and ive never had this problem.

I had my wisdom teeth extracted and I feel long strings in the back where my teeth were is that normal?

That most probably would be sutures, yes!Better ask your surgeon about the type of material used for suturingIf the sutures are the ones which do not dissolve by themselves they must have been left with long tags which might cause that feeling. U would have less appreciation of sutures if they were left short. This issue gets resolved once the sutures are knocked off.If the sutures are the ones which dissolve by themselves, the process of dissolution can happen in 2 weeks to 90 days time depending on the type of material used. Few of such materials which dissolve on their own (absorbable sutures) have wick effect. This causes the sutures to absorb intraoral fluids and swell up a bit. This also myt lead to feeling strings in the mouth as they are more tactile when swollen. Such sutures can be removed after 5 to 7 days of surgery based on the healing at the site.Sometimes your own body tissue might be left intentionally or unintentionally at that site which might be swollen due the surgical stress caused due to widom teeth removal. This will settle down once the swelling goes down and the tissue heals.Better book an appointment with the operating surgeon to have a comprehensive analysis of your problem.
