I'm 20 year old Japanese man. I think White people are most beautiful and attractive. I think I'm ugly myself and I get harassed(embarrassed) about my face. The color of the skin is yellow, too. Sweetie, don't you know any Japanese who want to be . . . let's say American? Who wear their hair in big afros and sing very accented blues songs, for example? Or who dye their hair blonde and try to be very rebellious, and change their names? The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Just as there are some Japanese who become Jehovah's Witnesses, there are some Americans (not just white people, either!) who become "Zen Buddhist." People feel that by denying their cultural heritage, they can "embrace" a diffferent cultural heritage. They usually wind up making up a whole new pretend cultural heritage -- something that is neither Christianity, but really isn't Buddhism, either. And . . . as long as they aren't hurting anyone, that's OK. Yes, it's difficult to move to Japan and live in Japan -- it's also difficult for a Japanese person to move to the US and live in the US. But for many people, it's not actually MOVING that they want -- they just want an excuse to live their lives in a new way.

Unfortunately all the answers you got here were defensive. Not one rational answer among them. So I shall attempt to answer your question. In Anime the Japanese ARE absolutely drawing themselves to look white. The majority of characters are Asian, but they are drawn to look like Caucasians. And for those of you who think the white characters look like Asians you're just delusional. Which in part answers this post. You think you look like something you don't. Or you wish you had. I've seen Asian girls who's had operations on their eyes to look more American. Also nobody is questioning the Japanese culture. Other nations envy your electronic wizardry. But be realistic. Aesthetically speaking many people believe you feel inferior to Caucasians. Just look how many people have asked this same question.
