Who Actually Closed The Us National Parks It Seems Like Director Jarvis Had No Choice

What is the best small town in South Australia to retire to?

I guess it all depends on what you want in a country town & how much you can afford. If you want all the amenities, transport, social connections, etc, then Lobethal, Birdwood, Gumeracha, Hahndorf, McLaren Vale, Willunga & all those other beautiful little country towns in the Adelaide Hills might interest you but they are HOT in Summer. If you like the heat, then you have many peaceful towns to choose from. If you don't like the heat & you're OK with mild Summers, wet, cold Winters, then Silverton & Delamere are the places for you. We rarely get one whole week of hot weather during the Summer months in Silverton. However, Silverton is 56km from Victor Harbor (everything you need is there), 29km from Normanville & 6km from the nearest General Store. You definitely need a reliable car & be bushfire ready (as everywhere else in the beautiful Adelaide Hills). Silverton is situated between Delamere & Cape Jervis & the tiny settlement in located off the main road so you can drive passed it without knowing. Hidden away amongst the eucalypt forest between Talisker Mines Conservation Park & Deep Creek National Park, Silverton would be South Australia's best kept secret. So if you're looking to retire in solitude & you like mild Summers & wet Winters, you're not bothered about driving distance to shop, you need look no further than Silverton & Delamere.

What was New York like in the seventies..around John Lennon's time?

The 70's were a crazy time, especially during the late 70's. The South Bronx looked like a war zone, drugs and crime was everywhere. You couldn't find a subway car without graffiti. Times Square area (especially along 42nd Street) had prostitutes and crappy movie theaters. We also had a blackout in 1977 as well as a serial killer that terrorized the entire city (Son Of Sam - David Berkowitz).

If you want to get a small taste of how the 70's were in NYC watch the following movies

"Fort Apache, The Bronx",
"Summer Of Sam",
"Carlito's Way"

There is a new movie with Denzel Washington called "American Gangster" which depicts Harlem back in the 70's.

Why is belief a requirement of religion? Why would God want us to be irrational?

When you prepare a new recruit for the battle you teach and train them. Recruits who are being trained may choose to take your words seriously or they may choose to ignore them. They have no way to see the battle that is ahead of them. If they are wise and smart they believe you and take your words as a teacher seriously. That would increase their chances to survive the battle as they would be better prepared. It is the belief that is the key for the best training. Those who don't have faith cannot train well and cannot learn well. They don't feel motivated enough. As you see, the matter of faith is not really a religious matter. It is not wanted by God for you to be a believer. It is actually in your own interest. You simply don't know what is expecting you ahead. All you can do is to choose what to believe in and put your efforts in preparing to what you believe is going to be. In result, you get better in what you believe is going to be required. Then you end up doing what you believe you are good at. What you do, in turn brings up what actually happens to you most of the time. This is where the loop closes. You start from believing in something and end up getting something I'm result. Don't confuse one with the other though. What you choose to believe is not what happens, no. But it does define it through your actions. You can put it all on God if you wish, but it is actually logical and very rational. Your faith has very rational and very real material consequences. You do get what you deserve by your faith.
