Who Came Up With Adhd

Does the F.B.I. take people that have ADHD??

If you manage your ADHD and keep it from getting in the way, then you can apply for any job that is conductive to you being a happy person. A discussion came up on Compuserve (some of the first forums I ever particpated in) a long time ago about which jobs were not good for ADHD people (would tend to do poorly and/or not be happy doing) and I think court reporter won the discussion of jobs not to apply for (but I'm sure there are a few happy ADHD court reporters out there). I think the ADHD mind would actually make do well in law enforcement.

Don't worry that if you take Adderall or Ritalin then that will exclude you from the FBI. They have no right to know if you are taking this medication under a doctors orders.

Do you believe in ADD or ADHD?

My opinion is that it is very real. I have it and I'm 32. I take medication to manage it. My parents disciplined me, I tried very hard at everything I've even done in life, and sometimes, people are just born with brains that are a bit too "busy".
I was never a bratty kid, I was very aware of my problem and compliant with the rules (and I did get paddled and yelled at when out of line) I resisted the idea of medication into adulthood, but as the scattered thoughts and insomnia (yeah, ADHD folks get that, too) became disruptive to a productive life I decided to do something about it.
It's just that simple and it certainly is not the fault of the child or the parents.
Now, of course the world is full of bratty little turds, too. ADHD just needs to be diagnosed properly by a psychiatrist and managed in people that truly have it.

How did you end up being diagnosed with ADHD?

The school administrators said I was stupid. The tests said otherwise. For the early part of my education, I struggled to even pass. There was more than one conference held about possibly holding me back or putting me in learning disabled classes. All they saw was a kid getting straight Ds.My mom knew they were full of it. Not only did she know me, and know that I was clever, she had IQ tests to prove I wasn’t stupid. The board wasn’t having it, though. They insisted that I was simply an unintelligent child and I would have to be put into LD classes.Luckily. Well, sorta luckily, I was seeing a psychiatrist for depression. My issues at school were certainly not helping my depression, so they came up a lot around that time. She suggested that I could have ADHD. Now, this was the early 90s. Back then, most people thought ADHD was just an excuse to act up. My mom didn’t even know it was a real thing. But what the hell, right? We might as well try this Ritalin stuff.BOOM.Overnight.I could remember things. I could focus on the task at hand. I could get through a homework assignment without getting too bored. It was a freaking miracle.I went from straight Ds in the learning disabled classes to straight As in advanced placement classes within a year.I wasn’t stupid after all. Just easily distracted and bored. That was about 25 years ago. Since then I’ve since found better medication and ways to control it, but it is definitely still a challenge.Sometimes I forget to take my meds because I need my meds to remember to take my meds. There are many tasks and times where not being medicated is actually a benefit. Unfortunately, those times are mixed in with the rest of the times and tasks where being medicated is better. It’s a constant balance and sometimes requires extra planning. You learn to live with it the best you can. I honestly think it’s harder for the people around me to deal with. I must seem so odd to them. The rest of the room is having one conversation, and my mind has already gone off in 5 other directions and suddenly I want to know everyone’s opinion on the Oxford Comma. They all look at me in the strangest way, wondering what the hell that has to do with mining salt under Lake Erie.Nothing. Well, mostly nothing. Well. Nevermind. It made sense in my head.

What is ADHD?

Attention Deficit hyperactivity disorderIt is defined by some as 'Hunter's instinct in a farmer's world'.Some symptoms of ADHD-DisorganisationHyperactivityDifficulty in concentrationImpulsivityBeing a farmer one is supposed to sow the seeds and water the crops regularly and wait for months to harvest it. A person with ADHD cannot do that. He is restless.Hunter who is following a rabbit suddenly sees a deer on his left can't think if he should attack deer or follow rabbit. He needs to act quickly. He attacks deer impulsively and feeds himself.Hunter needs hyperactivity, impulsivity and doesn't need to focus on one point but his whole environment. On the other hand a farmer needs to be calm, patient and focused. This is a farmer's world. That's why ADHD affected people even with higher IQ find it difficult to live in this calm world. It is caused by deficiency of dopamine and/or dysfunction in prefrontal cortex due to which inhibitory signals aren’t transmitted. Person looses interests in a task very easily. For example, I started writing this answer and in the middle of it I had to bring cold drink, watch a video, text my friend and add a torrent. This multitasking is always there. Sometimes I can’t get back to original task.

Does Niall Horan Have ADHD?

Niall Horan sometimes doesn't know whats going on, and i told my dad some joke about him when he doesn't. He came up with that he probably has ADD or ADHD. Does he?

Why do people with ADHD never shut up?

My best friend has ADHD and ive tried to be as least stigmatic as possible, but I cant anymore. Whenever there is a conversation and someone starts to talk, he immediately interrupts and blabbers on. When you tell him to shutup he gets really angry. Today I was having a relatively serious converation with another friend and he interrupted and started talking. We paused for him. After he had finished we waited a few seconds, then my other friend began to talk, as soon as the first word came out of his mouth, my ADHD friend began to talk again.

I dont think he does this on purpose, but hes been living with ADHD for 15 years and wouldnt you think his parents would teach him some basic damn manners?

Is it possible to have Adhd and Ptsd.?

I was sexually abused as a child by my step father, which has left me with ptsd. My father abandoned me and my mother was barely around. I ended up being raised by my grandparents. I always had s/s of adhd, very innattentive, goof off, hyper, extremely impulsive, avoid difficult tasks, easily bored exc. I came out about the abuse around age 8-10, my mother showed no empathy or concern, rejection and abandonment at its best. My grandmother was beyond furious. At age 12 my biological father died, will never know him now. I began acting out not too long after. Cutting myself, running away with random ppl hopping in random cars seeking thrills, acting solely on impulse for my teen years, refusing to attend school because I couldn't focus. In and out of mental homes for god knows how long. Finally at 18 I got my Ged and went to a technical college and got a practical nursr license, college was the most challenging task it took all my attention and energy Ihad to study 3 timed as hard to remember the material. Alongwhile all this I have Panic attacks daily and anxiety I have lost control of. Help.

Is adhd a really big deal?

I have adhd but it never held me back. I will admit it was hard to study and concentrate for long period of times, but that was only on subjects I could care less about.
