How to write a resume?

The best resume's are one page. Remember the resume has one job and one job only: To get you the interview. It is not there to replace the interview, but to GET you the interview.

At the top, place your name and contact information. (Address, phone, cell and even email are all good.)

Below tht should be a statement of your objective. It should be defined toward your goals and your skills.

Next should come a set of skills and accomplishments you have. Each of these is an action word (stay away from using the word "I") Phrases such as "Supervised" or "researched" or even "organized" are all good here. Accomplishments should be quantitative whenever possible. "Reorganized file room for a 25% faster retreival of needed files." or "Increased customer satisfaction by 35%." type statements are quantitative.

Next is a section showing your job history. This need only go back 5 years. (In the case of several previous jobs list only those which are most recent, including 2-3, as space allows.) They should be in reverse chronological order (most recent to least recent) And include the name of the company and job title.

Lastly, a section for education, especially college. You need only list the School, city it's in and the degree received. At the interview, you can always clarify anything.
Do not put down hobbies, or your height/weight, or hair color. This is a job application, not a beauty contest. If you must list only hobbies which are apropos to the job. (If the job is accounting, for example, you can put down how you like figuring out math problems as a hobby.) Your resume should show you to be interested in working, not relaxing.
