Are you liberal or conservative?
My U.S history teacher gave us all surveys. I thought i was Liberal but i turned out to be a Conservative. And i leaned more on the ideas once i found out what a conservative really is. Liberals want all these freedom but expect the government to take care of them. While Conservatives believe in personal responsibility, individual liberty and limited government. That's why i chose Conservative, i believe that we should be able to take care of our selves and that whatever action we chose, we should pay the price for it. I still have Liberal Ideas but I guess i won't really find out what i am until i'm older. What are you, and why?

Hello I am on the liberal side of the politics. I have many views, though some may not be regarded as liberal. These are some. Corporal punishment/spanking of children - Opposed Abortion - Opposed Copy-write - Opposed Euthanasia on request - Support Death penalty - Opposed People being allowed to use bad language - Opposed Family value issues - Complex and mixed (cannot involve abuse or discrimination etc) Data protections laws - Complex and mixed (these current laws are over the top and insensible) As part of the data protection or privacy laws that exist in the UK, they say that is against the law to tape record someone without their consent; and so it would be illegal to use this as evidence in a court. As far as I am concerned; the use of secretly tape recorded evidence, it should be valid evidence for which a person can be punished as a result of. Is this a view that is liberal or conservative? Are libertarians more conservative or liberal?
Here’s the path I went down as I began to form my political mindsets. I was a black gay guy so naturally I went with the liberals as they were the first to say things that initially appealed to me such as:“Nothing bad is your fault its all due to white racism”“We support gay marriage”As I began to delve deeper however I began to realize that their ideas (except for marriage equality) weren’t all that great.I realized that the left teaches victimhood and entitlement. As far as the left is concerned I am a ‘victim’ of white racism and therefore I am entitled to other peoples money that I didn’t earn.Political correctness is meant to instill two things in the populaceCensorship of unpopular ideas (for example google banning provocative pro life ads yet allowing provocative pro choice ads on its search engine)Teaching people they are entitled to not be offendedSo I knew political correctness wasn’t for me and neither was liberalism.At that point I went to libertarianism. It sounded like a happy medium. Limited government but without all the religious dogma that some conservatives like to impose on others (for example that marriage is only between a man and a woman).Then I began to see some issues with libertarianism. For one government is necessary for certain things. All the major infrastructure projects like the interstate highway system, the transcontinental railroad, the space program (not infrastructure but you get the point) were seeded by government. Even HIV research began thanks to government money. The private pharmaceutical companies wouldn’t touch HIV for PR reasons.Also the morality issue as I’ve gotten older I am finding it necessary for the government to impose some morality.If you ask most libertarians ‘should the government determine social policy’ they would answer no. But then ask them if they would be okay with two consenting adults having sex in public most would also say no.Also the environment. The private sector has done a terrible job at regulating the environment since more often than not its significantly less expensive to do it the ‘dirty’ way than the clean way. You need an overseer, in this case uncle sam, to encourage and create incentive for companies to do things the ‘green’ way.If you ask most libertarians their principle issue is the size of government which aligns them more with conservatives. For that reason I would argue that libertarians are more conservative than liberal. Are you conservative or libertarian?
Is the protection of privacy more a US liberal or conservative position?
I can't remember if the protection of privacy is a thing liberals or conservatives support. I was thinking about this in my head, and first settled on it being a liberal thing due to the whole "liberty" thing, but conservatives are the ones who want the government to stay out of things, so I got confused.
