How should I follow up on my job application?

FIrst of all, you need to realize that HRs receive hundreds of online applications per day. In order for yours to stand out, you need to do something "above and beyond" what all the other applicants have done. The first step is to call and ask for the HR department. Say that you recently applied online and just want to follow-up to make sure they received it. This will put you in the top 10% and get you bonus points for initiative. You can then ask what the procedure is for selecting candidates for an interview. Resist the temptation to start "selling" yourself over the phone. Listen carefully and do as you are asked. Again, additional points for being able to follow directions. If you want to go to the business and meet the hiring manager, be careful. This is an opportunity to drop off your resume and put your face to the name on the paper. This is not a time to try to force an interview. Simply ask to meet for a few moments, introduce yourself, shake hands (firmly), and then be on your way. The HR manager is extremely busy and does not appreciate unexpected interruptions. If you are annoying, your application will find its way to the bottom of the pile. Even though you are only going to meet the manager for a few seconds, you still need to dress and act as though you are applying for a job. That thing about first impressions still holds true. Again, the object is to set yourself apart from the other candidates. Dress well, shower, take out the piercings, turn off your cell phone, bring a pen, look me in the eye, be friendly, and most of all, act as though you really want to work. Good Luck!

Following up on Chick Fil A application?

A call is appropriate. The manager will not be obligated to take time to see you like he or she would if you showed up in person.
Ask to speak to a manager on duty. Explain that you recently put in an application and am super motivated to with them. Ask if he is willing to set up an interview and DON'T BE LATE!

How do I follow up after submitting an online job application at a hospital, if no "hiring manager" name is listed?

You follow up by calling the hospital and asking to speak with HR. When the HR representative is on the line, ask what the status is of your candidacy, and if you can find out who the hiring manager for that position is.

When's the best time to follow up on a job application?

I applied to Zumiez online on Tuesday. I was visiting websites to apply to jobs (even if they weren't hiring) and on Zumiez it showed that they were hiring. I'm determined to get a job because I really need a job right now. I don't know how long I should wait before I follow up. Should I go in person and tell them that I filled out an application online? Or should I call? When would be the best time to go in if I went in person? Should I drop in early when they open? or does it not really matter as long as there's not much people there? Are there certain days that I shouldn't go, like on a Friday or on the weekend? Do I ask them "Hi, my name is ......., I'd like to know the status of my appplication?" I want to go tomorrow, but would that be too early? Also, should I only check in once? Would it have been better if I had just asked for an application in person? I feel like submitting one online would just get lost. I'm sorry for all the questions, I just really need help.

How to follow up on my application at Target?

Ask for the hiring manager or the manager who conducted your interview (if you've had one). You should then say that your name is ______, you submitted an application for a Sales Associate position on _______ day, and "I'm really interested in the position and would like to know when I might be able to speak to you about my qualifications and how I can contribute to the Target team." This points out the fact that you have qualifications and that you're interested--two very important things for them to know. It also makes it harder for the person to turn you down because you're not asking IF you can have an interview, but WHEN. In essence, you're saying that you're qualified, interested, and that they'd be crazy not to at least talk to you. Try to do this in person, while dressed in business casual attire. This should set you apart from other candidates in a positive way. Good luck!

Follow up call after turning in a job application?

So Friday I got an application for Sam Ash music, filled it out in the store, but needed to get some information from home, so I just brought it back the next day. I applied at several places that day, but I really hope to get the job at Sam Ash because it felt like a neat place to work and the people seemed nice. I'm sixteen so this is my first time actually applying for jobs. I know it's best to give a follow up call, but I'm not certain what exactly I should say or how long to wait. If anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. Also, when I got an application the woman said she wasn't sure if they were hiring, but they were taking applications, will that effect what I should say on the phone or if I should call at all?

How should I follow up after submitting a job application?

If this is your dream job, you might need to do something more than email to make yourself stand out. But, seeing as how you say a friend said the position re-opened, that could mean they just have not found the right candidate yet, in which case, it may suggest you were not selected. On the other hand, there could be a variety of reasons as to why they have not contacted you: they’re really busy so they haven’t had time to contact you, or they’re still interviewing other applicants. Sometimes it’s easier to just give no response to employers, because no one likes to tell people they’re not “it”. Rejection is hard not just on the employee but difficult for the employer as well.My best suggestion would be to give them a call. Ask to speak with the hiring person or HR and ask for your status in the application process. That should be a good way to show them that you’re interested. Say something like“Hello, this is So-and-So.I am writing (calling) to inquire about updates on the progress of your hiring decision and the status of my job application. In review of the opportunity of interview and my skills, I am eager to work with your company.”If you’re writing an email, include the opportunity for feedback and add“I would appreciate any feedback for the same. Again, I would like to thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to hearing back from you soon. In case you require any clarifications about my candidature, I can be reached at xxx-xxx-xxxx or xyz@gmail.com”If they decided to move forward with another candidate, and if this is the place you want to work at, then now is your time to network. If they haven’t found someone, but decided not to move forward with you, maybe you can ask them to forward you some qualities they look for so if you know someone, you might be able to help them. This might not sound like it will help, but networking becomes key after this point. If they don’t answer your phone call, you could always drop by in person and ask to speak with HR. Just say something along the lines of you dropping by in the area and decided to check your status and whether the position is still open or if someone has been selected.I wish you the best of luck! Hope you get the job!

Should I follow up on a Foot Locker application ?

I just submitted an online application and am wondering whether I should call the hiring manager or not. How long should I wait? What time should I call? What should I say? I am 17 years old with no work experience. Any help appreciated.
