62 year old here. I’m taking a few minutes off my job in IT security, based in Missouri to write this. It’s quite a well-paid job so I can afford to go and visit friends and family in London in a month.At the weekend I went and played pickle-ball with other members of the ski club. A new experience for me, but I soon got the hang of it and had fun. Then we went to the pub. On Sunday I went out on my motorcycle as it was quite warm.Last night I was at a meeting (in a pub) of the St Louis writers’ group, where we had a new playwright, an African-American lady who had actors read a new play she had written. It was pretty good and I made some new friends.Tonight after work I have an audition for a production of The Importance of being Earnest which is being put on in November. If I get done with that early, I’m off to a presentation on wildlife gardening locally, which is being held at the St Louis Zoo.Tomorrow lunchtime I’m taking an hour off work, for a teleconference with various other people on the MotoGP at Austin in April . I’m flag chief so I have a bit of work to do. After work I’m meeting with some members of the local Motorcycle Racing club, who need a new Race Director.Thursday evening my wife is out at choir, so I may go to a cinema broadcast of a National Theatre show from London.Friday evening, we might go out together or stay in with a beer, then comes the weekend, when we may both go out on our motorcycles together, if the weather is good.When retirement comes in a year or two, we will be able to spend a few weeks travelling, not just days. I might go and see my brother in Australia again.Oh the boredom. Woe is me.

To respect people as I want to be respected. Not to judge until I know for sure what I am dealing with.To be as good as I can, help as many people I can, never be ignorant, rude, or tell mentally ill people all the facts/truth until I am sure they can take it.I have found the truth hurts and some do not want to hear it and then ignore everything good. Go in to a shell thinking they are alright when they are not and refuse help any further.Show love, caring, compassion, and all the good feelings we can send out to make people feel better about themselves. Never cheat someone who is trying to help and take advantage of them as some do, when they have your confidence that they are good people. I have been caught out a few times, and it never gets easier, but the last one was the worst.If I was not as old and used to people, I would have changed my whole outlook on what people are like and never help anyone again. Bu I have to pick myself up and believe it is a one off.I live in an area, a small village, where there is a lot old and lonely people or very ill spouses. A smile, a little chat, just make them feel they are not alone and do what I can to make sure they do not go into decline.I have always helped and wanted to help since I can remember and i will still do my bit.I am not too old, proud or think I am so good that I cannot make mistakes and admit when I am wrong, if I am given the chance.We cannot all be perfect and right all the time. Just do our best to be kind and thoughtful.
