Who Do You Think Win In A Fight Between Gandalf Or Dumbledore Or Denethor

Who would win in a fight between Albus Dumbledore, Master Yoda, Gandalf the White, Phoenix Jean Grey, and Darth Vitiate?

Okay, Yoda and Dumbledore are still in a world of trouble. If you mean comics Phoenix, she/it might be able to put up a fight against Gandalf. Movie Jean is probably not mentally stable enough to hold it together. And if we’re talking Vitiate by the time he becomes Valkorian…whew.I think Dumbldore goes down first. HP world magic, even when Voldemort is operating on a no-holds-barred platform, just…doesn’t have the punch any of the other systems do. I mean, it’s sort of a joke, but someone did a meme of Sauron, Palpatine, and Voldemort comparing how long they were able to accomplish their various goals, and it’s noted Voldemort tries to take over a high school and fails. And wizards in HP ultimately hide from Muggles because they are scared of them. Most would take one look at full-on-angry Gandalf the White and crap their robes.Yoda has another problem—he can’t, even in a situation where the fate of the universe is at stake, take Sidious. So I think he lasts a little longer, especially if he can use Force telekinesis to fling some really big objects. Heck, he might be able to dissociate Phoenix—again, it’s kind of hard to say as that depends on what version we’re talking about when we’re talking about Phoenix. But I think Yoda could handle Dumbledore, and potentially use the Force on Phoenix, but he can’t take Sidious. Vitiate would be too much for him.If Yoda hasn’t dealt with Phoenix or fell to her, Vitiate will. He literally sucks the life out of planets and made himself immortal. If it’s movie-Jean from the third movie? She probably doesn’t even make it this far.But we still have Gandalf the White. In a human body or not, he is still NOT human, and an angelic being channeling enormous powers. If the kind of rules that restrict each character (Yoda can’t Force-choke, Dumbldore doesn’t Avada, etc.) don’t apply, then he’s not constrained from using the full brunt of his powers. Vitiate ultimately goes down to a Jedi (and his own family/their ghosts, depending on how you play KotET). Gandalf comes back from the dead and has no physical fears. He is even capable of pulling an “I’m taking you with me” gambit and NOT CARING. So yet again in these my money is on Gandalf.

Is it ever established why Gandalf goes from gray to white? Or what happens? And is Gandalf immortal?

Thanks for the A2A!!OK I just spent ages doing an answer with loads of ctrlC/ctrlV and references. Not this time!Gandalf is the Grey because of the order of the Wizards; (in descending order) White, Grey, Brown, Blue and - er - Blue.  Saruman was chosen as the leader of the Istari, and did his bit for a while until he was tempted sand fell.  When this happened and he styled himself "Saruman of Many Colours" he automatically abdicated the White position, which was therefore vacant.  So when Gandalf was reincarnated, he assumed the position that he actually should have had from the beginning, that of the Chief of the Istari, and therefore "the White."  His job is now to lead the fight against Sauron, and take him down.  Which he did, as the White. And he was always immortal.  He was a Maia.  Even if he'd failed he would have gone back to Valinor to ponder his defeat and maybe try again another time, another way.  Or maybe the Valar would have had someone else do it...  But that's another topic for pointless conjecture, which we love oh so much!

Who would win in a battle, Gandalf or Dumbledore and Harry Potter?

Dumbledore was undeniably a great and powerful wizard. And while Harry may not have been the most talented wizard, he was definitely skilled at practical defensive magic that would've been useful in such a situation. But Gandalf was on another level. He was part of an order known as the Maiar, essentially a lesser class of celestial beings, created by Eru before anything else. This means he is orders of magnitude more powerful than either Dumbledore or Harry.Magic in Tolkien's universe is much much less tangible and defined than it is in Harry Potter, which often leads people to think that Gandalf was nothing but a wise old man. But we never see him in his most powerful state. His job on Middle-Earth was to take the form of a man and guide the people of Middle-Earth. He was never supposed to coerce anyone, and the closest we ever get to seeing him at his most powerful is when he fits the Balrog (most of which is not described). Gandalf is an immortal celestial being, meaning that even the darkest magic of the HP universe (which Dumbledore and Harry wouldnt use anyway) would likely not affect him.In a true fight, in which Gandalf didn't hold back, Dumbledore and Harry wouldnt stand a chance. The stronger Maiar have the strength to help reshape the earth itself, and magic and power enough to almost anything. The scope of Gandalf abilities remains largely undefined, but he's just so much more powerful than either Dumbledore or Harry could ever hope to be, and would have no trouble flattening them (probably not killing though, it is not in the nature of any of the three characters mentioned to kill).

Who would win, Harry Potter vs Gandalf?

In terms of magic, that's like comparing thisTo this.Gandalf is in a different class of wizard than Harry. Gandalf is on a different level than the most powerful wizards in the Harry Potter universe. Dumbledore is child's play to Gandalf. Gandalf is basically a demigod and no Harry Potter character can match that.

How hard would it have been for Sauron to defeat the Balrog in Moria if he needed to (in a one-on-one combat and without getting killed himself, as Gandalf was)?

Easily. Sauron had plenty of troops in Moria, and so he’d have all the information he needed about the balrog; and Sauron would know how many forces he needed. As Gandalf said to Gimli:‘Perhaps he also thought that you were Saruman,’ said Gimli. ‘But you speak of him as if he was a friend. I thought Fangorn was dangerous.’‘Dangerous!’ cried Gandalf. ‘And so am I, very dangerous: more dangerous than anything you will ever meet, unless you are brought alive before the seat of the Dark Lord. And Gimli had already met the balrog; ergo Sauron was more dangerous than the balrog.Sauron could have invaded Moria with all the forces and weapons he needed to defeat the balrog, including the Nazgul. As Denethor tells Pippin about Sauron: “He will not come save only to triumph over me when all is won. He uses others as his weapons.”However if need be, Sauron could defeat the balrog himself; certainly its fire wouldn’t bother him, as Isildur wrote: “The Ring misseth, maybe, the heat of Sauron’s hand, which was black and yet burned like fire, and so Gil-galad was destroyed”.

Is Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter better?

I am a huge fan of both film series, so here's my opinion.

I prefer The Lord of the Rings mainly because of it's incredible character development. Both series have stunning visuals, engaging stories, fast-paced action scenes, beautiful locations, scary creatures, etc. so to compare them just kind of comes down to personal preference (I like LOTR a wee bit better because it feels larger in scale and a bit more epic, but that's just me). But the big kicker is the characters. Harry Potter does a wonderful job of really digging into the characters of Harry, Ron and Hermione, but that's about it. You do get some absolutely fantastic morsels of backstory and emotional drive from Snape, Voldemort, and Dumbledore, but it's all too fleeting. I love all the characters, but sometimes the minor villains and supporting characters get a bit lost in the ensemble. I had watched the series about 5 years ago and I had to watch it again because I didn't really remember much of the characters other than the main roles. LOTR on the other hand does a splendid job at making each character feel precious, special, and appreciated. Even when new characters are added in The Two Towers, you feel like they've been there all along. The emotions and story behind even such small characters like Denethor, Treebeard, and Eomer are just awesome! Even when someone as minor as Haldir the Elf dies they stop to focus on how painful it is to lose such an important, if small, part of the story. That's why LOTR wins it for me. Sorry if the response was too long! :)
