Who Goes Further In Playoffs Nats Or Orioles

In MLB, what's the difference between play-off berth and the wild card and clinching division?

'Clinching the division' refers to when a team has won enough games so that it is impossible for the 2nd-place team to win the division.
The 'Wild Card' is the team in the league with the best record that didn't win a division.
BOTH go to the playoffs, and are thus called 'playoff berths.'

Why did the Cardinals play only 161 games in 2006?

They had a rainout, and since the results of that game would not change the standings anyway, they did not bother to make it up.
And yes to the second question.

If you are a fan of the Baltimore Orioles, how far do you believe the O's will make it this year (2016)? If you aren't a fan, what is your prediction?

I wrote the question, but I’ll start this off. First off, I’m a fan of the O’s since I watchedem my first game with my dad and I’ve stuck with them through 2000 to 2011 religiously. These past few years have certainly been much more fun!Even as a fan, I don’t believe the O’s will take home the World Series title this year. All they need is a ~1 to 3 game batting slump and they will be out of a series. Their pitching won’t keep them in it either as most of us already know.I have no doubt they will make the playoffs though and if I had to predict, I’d say they will win the AL East (Boston will drop off and Toronto will be the only real challenger and will get a WCard spot). It will help that it won’t be a one and done so I can see them beating any Central and East team. The issue they’ll face is the West. They never play them well. If we go up against Texas (or SEA if they got their act together), we’ll get knocked out. If we don’t have to play the West, then we’ll make it to the WS and most likely lose to the Cubs, Nats, or SF.One final thought. I was very confused that no one picked the O’s to win the division this year. Why? Because the AL East was the one division that was a complete toss up AND did people forget we made the playoffs in 2012 and 2014 with a weaker and much less mature lineup and fielders? Machado was leading the league in doubles back then, but now has the power to hit those doubles out of the park. No Trumbo (and in 2012, no Nelson Cruz who was similar). No C Davis as a Gold Glover at 1B. CC Fatbastadbia broke lead off hitter Nick Markakis’s hand 3 weeks before his first shot at the playoffs waiting patiently on bad O’s teams for over 10 years. He wasn’t available to play. No Schoop and his .300 avg and ~12 HRs. No Adam Jones as a leadoff batter. No Rickard/Kim as nice options in left field with Alvarez available as well when necessary. The only piece we had that year that is not an exact fill in this year is a hot Steve Pearce who was big down the stretch (and then not so good the years after for us).Pitching? Exact same really. Gallardo for Chen and Gausman talent for …Bud Norris? And two young guys that are doing pretty well as 4/5th starters (Wilson and Wright when he is needed).I like our chances to create some waves.Ryan

How many world series did the yankees lose?

The New York Yankees have lost the World Series 13 times:

1) 1921 to the New York Giants
2) 1922 to the New York Giants
3) 1926 to the St. Louis Cardinals
4) 1942 to the St. Louis Cardinals
5) 1955 to the Brooklyn Dodgers (probably the second greatest World Series ever)
6) 1957 to the Milwaukee Braves
7) 1960 to the Pittsburgh Pirates (probably the greatest World Series ever)
8) 1963 to the Los Angeles Dodgers
9) 1964 to the St. Louis Cardinals
10) 1976 to the Cincinnati Reds
11) 1981 to the Los Angeles Dodgers
12) 2001 to the Arizona Diamondbacks
13) 2003 to the Florida Marlins

Also, important was the 2004 ALCS when the Yankees lost to the Boston Red Sox after being up three games. The Red Sox went on to win the World Series for the first time in 86 years. This was basically like losing the World Series

Who provides the bat boy for the visiting MLB club?  Does the home team provide for each team or do they travel with the team?

Wikipedia:During any given major league game, both the home and visiting team  batboys will be drawn from the city where the game is taking place  (batboys typically do not travel on the road with their team, unless  they are relatives of a player). Home batboys often have regular jobs  with a team, and thus may wear their first names on their uniforms;  visiting teams, on the other hand, usually do not know who will be  serving as their batboys on the road, and thus will send uniforms of  various sizes to accommodate batboys of varying heights and weights.Wikianswers:Except in very rare circumstances, bat boys don't travel on road trips.  Home and visiting bat boys are both employed by the home team. When a  team goes on the road, they pack a bat boy equipment bag to take along,  which holds uniforms for each of the teams they'll be visiting on that  road trip. Since road teams don't know the size of the visiting bat boy  assigned to it the team has to bring along a variety of sizes.
