Who Introduced Cdma Technology In India

Why is the US still using CDMA technology?

Same reason it's still using imperial measurements instead of the metric system: the equipment is now in place and it would cost a lot to switch it out. Sometimes it's cheaper to stick with an inferior system than it is to upgrade.AT&T uses GSM.

In India, which technology (GSM or CDMA) is used for voice calls through service providers like Airtel/Vodafone, etc.?

I think the networks u have mentioned uses gsm .GSM generally requires a sim ,where all the user related informations are stored. So the carrier/network provider has limited control over your device. One can easily change to any carrier by simply inserting the appropriate sim card and activate  . But for CDMA,you got to register to a specific carrier .This means the carrier can control the access/restrict  a device into their network and it is a lot more complicated to change the carrier often unlike gsm . In India GSM is most commonly used .

Why don't we use CDMA technology in India?

We use. Like tata and reliance who started it.Unfortunately by the time they started, pioneers like Vodafone then hutch airtel have captured considerable amount of market.this lead to mobile phone makers to invest a lot in gsm handsets.cdma haandsets with multiple features like gsm were very costly. Moreover cdma phones were of low end and were attached(locked) to the operators. This gradually lead to the extinction of cdma phones.Except for htc no phone makers make cdma smartphones.

In fast growing technology, which one is better, GSM or CDMA?

In terms of efficient use of the spectrum, CDMA is better than GSM, which uses FDMA-TDMA, as the former can handle more subscribers per bandwidth allocation. In terms of data rates possible, CDMA having a a bandwidth of 1.25MHz against 0.2MHz for GSM, the former beats the latter.GSM is more prevalent mainly because it’s the chosen technology by many countries. It was also an easier choice because it’s an off shoot of ISDN, another legacy technology.

Can I use att sim card on motorola razr v9m? [v9m is a CDMA tech phone]?

CDMA is used by verizon, alltel. It is the older cellular technology. GSM newer, used by AT&T T-mobile and a broader range in network coverage. CDMA phones do not use the sim cards, the information is programed hard into the phone. Yeah GSM uses sim cards, and i doubt you'll be able to use a CDMA in india, unless your CDMA based provider has coverage there. But you cannot use a CDMA phone on a GSM network.

Information on cellonics technology?

can anyone help me getting information about cellonics technology (the one used for achieving high speeds in modems).

links other than those related to/from www.techalone.com would be helpful.

Which is good in India: CDMA or GSM?

In case of talking and calling cdma better than gsm but gsm is far better then cdma because of its unlimited choice of Smartphones, can use in dongle. In INDIA few makers are making cdma set.

Why did CDMA fail in India?

The higher frequencies of 3G mean that are greater density of base stations is needed to provide coverage as good as GSM, so this is a technological factor. CDMA is attractive for cellcos as it allows them simpler radio planning and no fixed limits on users per base station. Advantages for users are often not so clear. With many places where 3G has been introduced, customers don’t see the value given that the base services (voice and text) are the same. Handsets can be more expensive (due to technology licensing fees and multiple radios inside), and cellcos want the users to pay for expensive new infrastructure and spectrum. In Europe, many 3G cellcos tried to interest users in value-added video services (H.263), as this was a clear differentiator from GSM. This ultimately failed due to high prices and a lack of compelling services.  The differentiator that emerged in the USA and Europe has been high speed data (i.e. HSPA, EVDO), and a great success of recent years has been the USB 3G data dongle (or integrated 3G module in laptops and tablets). For India, this may also be a success in the long term, unless LTE or Mobile WiMax overtakes it. It all depends on demand for data services and the pricing of the product.

What is the difference between Broadband and CDMA?

Sounds like the idiots at Sprint are mis-using the terms. (No surprise there.)

"Broadband" is a generic term for high speed Internet access. CDMA is a wireless access technology.

Sprint's broadband service IS a form of CDMA, so it makes no sense to give you a choice between broadband and CDMA. That's like giving you a choice between a car and a Toyota Corolla, or between food and a hamburger. Idiots. This probably came from the marketing dweebs.

Here's what I think they mean: I think they are using "broadband" to refer to their EvDO service (which is a type of CDMA) and they are using CDMA to refer to their older 1xRTT service (which is ALSO a type of CDMA).

Choose the broadband offering wherever it is available. It will be faster.
