What does it mean to be important to someone?

that is not true, being famous, atheletic, or rich, etc, only makes you well known and admirable, but it has nothing to do with being important.

I think you are confusing being important with being noticed, being the one that never gets noticed only means you've yet to reached out to the people around you. you should take a chance and make friends with someone.

If you have a problem about something, you should do something about it, never accept a problem and leave it alone. the situation will just get worse if no action is taken.

hope this helps!

Why is saying "thank you" so important for anyone?

Saying "Thank You", for me, is one of the most powerful combination of words in linguistics. The only other I can think of that could be even more potent is "I Am". 1. To say "thank you" is to appreciate the individual for choosing to take action vs. being told to take action. As with all creatures, humans are programmed to seek freedom; the freedom of choice most powerful of all. Over hundreds of years and most likely heightened in the Industrial era boom, we've moved away from the individual model of society (where people primarily worked for themselves) to the institutional model where large organizations dictate our work (and personal) lives. In essence, when you say "thank you" you are thanking the individual for making the choice to take on a task or activity. Contrarily, when you don't say thank you to someone for completed task, they feel like they had no choice in the matter. Which leads to the appreciation...2. People need to feel appreciated and lovedHuman beings are sensitive creatures, more so than any other animal because we're one of the few (if not the only but perhaps dolphins too based on studies) that have consciousness (feelings, thought, etc). By saying "thank you" you're also saying "I appreciate you". It's so simple and effective.3. Making others feel good brings good in other unpredictable waysBy making someone else feel important and appreciated, you've brightened up someone's day in the smallest of ways and that person is more likely to pass on that feeling to someone else. If they feel dejected and under-appreciated they tend to take it out on those close to them (spouse, kids, friends, etc). The act of saying thank you is also powerful in that it makes people more willing to do something for you again in the future. Creating a cycle of goodwill is essential if you believe in karmic energy ("what goes around comes around"). 4. Saying thank you is the simplest form for practicing gratitudeI wrote about the importance of gratitude here. Practicing gratitude is the #1 way to be happy (it's a choice fyi). If you're having trouble with your mental state of mind then start crawling before you walk by saying thank you to anyone and everyone. The act will make you feel better and as with #3 will benefit you in unpredictable ways as it will the recipient.

What does it mean if a guy says you're important to him and he cares a lot about you?

I mean ok, I don't want to sound like the typical girl. But a guy told me this...obviously it could just mean that. I'm important to him and he cares about me. But could it mean anything else? I'm just confused, and was wondering if anyone could explain if this could mean something more...or just that he cares about me as like a friend. Especially if you're a guy, what does it mean when guys say this? It probably means just that, but still. Thanks :)

Can you tell me 6 people that played a very important role during World War 1?

If I was you I'd go with something like what Hoopski said.

If you can properly find a decent story about normal people and how they played a role, and put it into context with your knowledge abotu the times in general, THAT will be some final.

People find human interest stories much more compelling than the actions of our "leaders", so if pull both off, then you are onto a winner.

I know its not WW1, but check out a book called The Last Few - its about the suviovors of the Spitfire battles, Battlle of Britain. Seeing thesde guys up close, really brings home that real people died and fought in a very real war.

If you give someone a gift and don't get a thank you, should you say something?

It depends on the culture, for example in Canada, in my view, there is overuse of this word. The Canadians may say thank you to the ATM, once I was in an ATM line and the guy in front me got his cash, and he uttered quick thanks to the machine.I was born in India an grew up there until my early 20 S, we were trained to say Thank you, but we were very selective to use this word.Saying thanks is a personal thing, I do not mind if someone does not say thank you, even when I give someone a gift.We have two grandsons I must admit their parents spend a tremendous amount of time in teaching them. We leave no effort spared to teach them manners and etiquette. They turned out to extraordinary in ways (so far), needless to say; we are doing as grandparents as much as we can to spoil them (jk). On this XMAS one grandson did not say “Thank you” when grandma and I gave them presents. However, all he did was a very tight hug, every time close to our hearts. That was thousand times more than insincere ‘Thank you.’Language of love, affection and respect, only giver and taker understand when it comes to heart,My grandson’s tight hug and his eyes said everything: I did not need any “thanks” beside it came from the heart, and he received it with the heart.“ Do good and forget it” this is an English proverb, however in India, we say the same thing in our native language. In a nutshell, the people you love, really love, they do not have to say anything. My grandsons do not have to say a word, they are part of me, and I do not need anything thing back from them. It is their birthright to ask for things from me.Also, the people I respect and adore, now my parents are gone, but why I should be thanked by my mother/father who sacrificed so much for me for a petty or even a mega thing I presented them at Xmas. Of course not, in fact I should have said thanks to them for accepting it.

Who has been the most important person in your life and why?

The most important person :My Mother ; Because she will never stop loving me. Just like everyone elses mother. Mother is the most important gift ever given to you by God after your life. I can't describe her in words by still want everyone to know about her.She is govt. Employee. Working as postal assistant. But apart from that she never took leave from office because she cared for the financial condition. We have now much more but still she never stopped. She is an asthama patient and A survival of Dengue. For that I will always be thankful to god. She remains sick usually but never stay away from kitchen. She wake up early in the morning . Cook food for us and at 9 am she leave for office and return at 6 pm. And then again cook food for us.. no matter how exhausting the day was !!She is the favourite of all. Everyone loves her and respect her. And she told me “ Love everyone no matter what they do to you ! Because someday they will definitely realize their mistakes “She is definitely the lady of the house but never care for the money she earned. And that she leaves on Papaji .My Father : a man of Discipline and regulations. He is weak in showing love but a master in caring without showingHe is a property dealer.. and engineering graduate from mechanical branch. But is the jack of all trades . He can repair anything comes under mechanical , electrical and electronic. God knows how he can do that all with perfection. But when i asked him ,he used to say “ learned by experience and observation “And apart from engineering, he is master in management. He managed our home like perfection. Never had delayed in fees and never had delayed in fulfilling genuine demands.I know he is “ pheonix from ashes “ and the person knows him truly believe in it too.My Brother : he is not only my elder brother but also mentor of my life. I will be grateful to him for my entire life for his support and love for me.He learned from his mistake and shamelessly tell me about it… so that I would not repeat the same.He is my true friend. Because he never praise me.. even I did something better :-(. But happily tells his friends about it…We never hide each other mischief activities from our parents that's the biggest reason of war between us :-)Rest of people in my life are playing their assigned role and will pass when they fulfill their needs or the other way around. But they definitely leaves their marks behind either in the form of kisses or scratches.:: Work hard and Love Everyone::

(Why is the Monroe Doctrine important today?)?

The last time that I can find a president mentioning the Monroe Doctrine was JFK in a new conference in August 29, 1962.
“The Monroe Doctrine means what it has meant since President Monroe and John Quincy Adams enunciated it, and that is that we would oppose a foreign power extending its power to the Western Hemisphere, and that is why we oppose what is happening in Cuba today."
The Monroe Doctrine has been cited by important government officials lower than the president into the 1980's.

I think it is important today, primarily because it has never been officially renounced as policy

For example, it has been suggested that the Members of MERCOSUR, currently Paraguay, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay might eventually benefit from having a common currency. These countries have a current total population of almost 90% of the USA and a current Gross Domestic Product similar to Germany. Population growth in MERCOSUR is predicted to be lower than USA in a few years. MERCOSUR does more trade with the European Union than the United States. Hypothetically, MERCOSUR could petition to become members of the European Monetary Union and use the Euro as their common currency. Or they could issue a currency that is pegged to the Euro instead of the dollar. The USA could potentially object to this currency union and cite the Monroe Doctrine.

Who is the most important person who ever lived? I know to Christians like me the answer is Jesus, do non-Christians have someone in mind?

I'd say that Jesus was probably the most important figure in the history of Western society. I think there are perfectly good secular grounds to say that, and Ehrman (among other secular historians) have argued as much.

The most important person ever will probably never be known...I'd say it was the first person to commit ideas to print.

The notion that ideas could be commodified, compiled, passed down in their original form to the next generation, and distributed beyond those in one's social circle is absolutely momentous, and it's hard to think of anything of note that doesn't hinge on that development.
