Who Was A Better Playmaker - Randy Moss Or Jerry Rice

Is Randy Moss the next Jerry Rice or not?

Both Randy Moss and Jerry Rice have put up great numbers during their careers, however they have gotten there in different ways. I believe Moss has a chance to become one of the top three wide receivers of all-time if he stays healthy.

Here are the top three, not necessarily in this order.

Don Hutson - The Alabama Antelope could do it all and was way ahead of his time. He had amazing speed and demanded double teams on the go pattern. He also ran great routes and used his speed to make plays once the ball got in his hands. Just because he played during a time the passing game wasn't big, and he only played 10-12 game seasons, he should not be forgotten. Hutson held all the receiving records for many decades.

Jerry Rice - Rice was the epitome of hard work. We was amazing at catching the quick slant routes and turning 5 yard catches into big plays. If you came up and tried to take away the slants, he would beat you deep. Jerry Rice, like Hutson are the standards all receivers are compared to.

Randy Moss - Although he doesn't always run routes as crisply as he should, his athletic ability makes him a freak of nature. He makes average quarterbacks look great, and great quarterbacks into record breakers. He is the most dangerous deep threat since Hutson, and can go up and get the jump ball better than anyone.

Randy Moss or Jerry Rice?

Honestly in my opinion Randy Moss should have no place in debate with Jerry RIce. Rice is the greatest WR to play the game so far, he played every game like his last."Today I will do what others won't, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can't" -Jerry Rice

Yes, Moss was talented but he never had the drive and determination as Rice had. Also I think people do forget Moss had Daunte Culpepper while in his prime which was a pretty good QB

In my opinion, Moss should be better compared to Terrell Owens who I would consider better. T.O. owns 4 more games and 1000 more yards than Randy Moss while the overall touchdowns are the same. Yes, T.O. drops but he wants to win i.e. the Eagles Playoff Game T.O. on a broken ankle catches a pass and runs 90 yards. That is heart.

It's Moss -- but it's close. Both are surefire Hall or Fame players; we're talking about the second and third best WR, after Jerry Rice (by a lot), in the modern era of football (at least statistically). Let's break it down.Start with the fact Moss was the #1 offensive threat on the two highest single-season scoring offenses in NFL History, the 1998 Vikings (556 points) and 2007 Pats (589 points). Moss has seven seasons of 1,300 or more yards, and nine seasons of double-digit TD catches, including an NFL record 23 in 2007.  T.O. has four seasons of 1,300 plus yards, and eight seasons of double-digit TD catches.Moss's career stats 954-14,858-153-15.6 per catch in 191 games. In 28 more games, T.O. has the same number of TDs receiving -- 153.  T.O.'s edges in catches (1,078) and yards (15,934) are almost wholly explained by his playing two more seasons, to this point, than Moss. T.O. dropped many more passes than Moss did over his career.  But T.O. also blocked much, much better than Moss ever did -- and he ran more routes, particularly in intermediate middle of the field, between the hash marks. Moss is a vastly superior deep threat -- he's easily one of the top five deep threats in NFL history.  And as a big-play threat, again, edge Moss  -- T.O. never took the top off the defense like Randy Moss did. T.O. clearly had better touchdown celebrations; the pull out a sharpie and sign the ball beats Moss fake mooning fans in Green Bay, IMHO. T.O. played with better QBs -- he had Young, Garcia, Bono, McNabb, Romo and palmer to Moss' Brady, Culpepper, Cunningham and Raiders roulette wheel.   T.O. career stats:http://www.pro-football-referenc... Beckham, Jr. certainly has the talent and potential to be a star of Rice’s caliber. I am less certain that he has the determination and discipline that he’d need to work hard enough to be as consistent and reliable as Rice was. Talent is one thing, discipline and work ethic are something else again entirely. Despite the talent we’ve all seen from him so far during his career, I’m not sure Beckham, Jr. has demonstrated the latter to this point in his career. He seems more intent upon his ego than he is upon his stature.“Better than” Jerry Rice? He’d have to work some more seriously dedicated seasons to even approach being considered for that claim. And he’d also have to demonstrate the maturity and dedication that Rice did. Avoiding getting into personality disputes, being more of a team player and demonstrating more leadership ability. Or to put it more simply, less selfishness and childishness. Perhaps he will grow into that, but I’d hold off making any comparisons with Rice (and other greats) until it happens.

Will we ever see another talented wr like Randy Moss or Jerry Rice?

Hmm thats a toughy and I know Randy Moss IS good, but even just a year ago before the draft, everyone here (including Patriot fans) would have said that Randy Moss is washed up and old. (Don't lie you know you said it!) That was because he was on an obismol Raiders team that had no QB. But when you look at film from last years patriots team Randy Moss never made any "godly" catches. When you have Tom Brady throwing to you, all you have to do is put your hands out. I really like him and he is a good player, but he is not a ledgend or a Hall of Fame WR. Anyways back to the question at hand, Jerry Rice is the best WR of all time, and WE WILL NEVER SEE A BETTER ONE! He was to "godly" and nobody in the league now is like that, but if I had to choose one, I would have to go with a guy like Dwayne Bowe of the KC Chiefs. And I know right now your like WTF! But him and Jerry Rice have similar backgrounds and if you look up their rookie stats and compare them, they are nearly identical. (Bowe has 1 more TD and 55 more yards recieving.) But Rice had Steve Young throwing to him for all those years, and Bowe has Brodie " Interseption" Croyle. Haha. So in conclusion, Jerry Rice is the greatest of all time, and he will never be passed up by anyone else.

Randy Moss is undoubtedly they greatest receiver to play this game why are people still arguing this?

promote you argued why Jerry Rice is the numerous perfect ever. He wasn't quick he did not out bounce each body else and he did not take tremendous hits. He ran perfect routes and had tremendous palms. He does not have the athletic information moss does and yet Jerry Rice has better SB earrings and bigger SB MVP's then Moss. Rice holds the properly-commonly used public of the receiving files interior the NFL. form of humorous that you say he's over rated Randy moss owns 2 files and that makes him better effective? Randy Moss better effective were given on the ball he in elementary words has seventy 2 better TD's to maintain away from to equivalent the similar as Rice. till Moss starts getting on the fringe of Rices files he's not interior the similar breath. Moss isn't even the numerous perfect lively WR interior the NFL now to not show optimal perfect ever
