Why Am I More Productive When I

Why am I more productive and fun when I'm tired?

Whenever I am working on Homework until the early morning hours, or if I get up really early before school-and occasionally do not feel tired for some reason, I am told that I am ten times more fun to be around, and do most of my HW at these hours (10:00pm-7:00am).
I think it might be because I think and care less, and act more robotic doing hw, and think less on what others think about me.
I I had very little sleep one night, I am much more fun to be around for the rest of the day, write better essays, and do better on tests. But this is only occasionally for I sometimes just become really tired.

How do I be this way-more productive and fun- with more sleep? Is it possible?

Poor sleep and insomnia can make you less effective, but its still not necessary to stay in bed for eight hoursMadonna, Margaret Thatcher and Donald Trump all claim to have thrived on four hours or less of sleep. If its good enough for the queen of pop and the Iron Lady, should entrepreneurs be worried about aiming for that magic eight hours a night?Ref: Say Goodnight to Insomnia – Kate Nichol – MediumHe found that adjusting his sleeping pattern in this way allowed him to start each working period daytime and night with a fresh mind. Farley admits he didnt like waking up each time but says once he was awake he felt great. They had to stop the pattern after a while because, as the business grew, they had too much to do during the daytime. But could biphasic sleeping be a short-term solution for other busy entrepreneurs?Sleep experts advise against working during the night. But Kathryn Pinkham, a sleep therapist at The Insomnia Clinic in Nottingham, says aiming for an eight-hour sleep target could cause unnecessary stress. Youd be better off getting six hours of quality sleep than eight hours of fractured sleep, she says. Find the amount of sleep that suits you and stick to it. Its about quality of sleep, not quantity.I love my job but at the same time I am aware that the lack of sleep is becoming a problem, he says. I have to have my morning coffee to be able to function, but then I just crack on. I am trying to find ways to manage it because if I dont it is going to be full blown insomnia. Most entrepreneurs have at some point struggled to get enough quality sleep, but with insomnia a leading cause of lost productivity, what can sleepless small business owners do to get a good nights rest and improve their performance during the day?By going to bed a little later, you will increase your appetite for sleep. The larger your appetite, she says, the better chance you have for going to sleep quickly and sleeping through the night.Pinkham explains: Fractured sleep is more likely if you are going to bed too early. You wake up feeling frustrated and before you know it you associate that emotion with being in your bed and that becomes a habit. If I cant sleep at night because I am thinking about work, I will get up and write down what is on my mind, says Gandesha. It is usually something you have forgotten and the worry that you will forget keeps you awake. So jotting those things down is good for clearing your mind.

Why am I most productive when I am down?

I have chronic depression and on days when i am down I clean the house, mow the lawn and usually those are the days that I study a lot and get lots of homework done do things that overall move me forward in life. whereas days that I'm feeling good and energized I watch tv all day or play video games which lead me to feeling down. Isn't it supposed to be the opposite? Aren't the days I'm feeling down supposed to e the days where I feel lazy and don't get anything done?

Procrastination is often driven by fear and anxiety. A large task, or a whole stack of smaller tasks seems daunting. The work may be unpleasant. We sometimes don't know where to start. We get stuck on a process such as writing.Being a bit relaxed and having something that reduces fear and anxiety may be contributing to your increase in productivity. Whether or not the trade-offs are worth it (I have no idea what you are taking to get high), and if it is impacting the quality of your work, is something you need to determine.Hope this was helpful. Questions and comments are welcome.

Why am I so unproductive?

I sleep at abt 11.30 every night and wake up at abt 8, while all my friends sleep at 1 or 2 or 3 and wake up at 6 so they spend their time studying so it ends up im studying less than them i feel very insecure but i've tried staying up late and waking up early, i cant because i just get so sleepy and it's so hard for me to get out of bed.

I take so long just to do some math problems, everyone else can finish them in one morning but i take one full day to do them why is my brain so slow and why am i so stupid?

but i still can score quite okay at school, and i'm always the bubbly and happy one involved in everything. im not willing to give up any commitments because i enjoy them and it's not the problem of too many commitments, it's my own slowness and unproductiveness and stupidness that's making me stressed up. i'm somewhere above average in grades and some ppl call me an overachiever, but they dont know how miserable and stressed when im at home and none of them sees me....i cry so much i cant even see properly now cos my eyes are so dry and swollen

can somebody help me? i've had scuicidal thoughts occassionally for years now but i'm not serious abt doing them, i just think of them. sorry you have to read such a long post but i cant take this anymore....i cried this whole afternoon and only finished doing what i was supposed to complete 2 days ago, i'm behind my timetable.....im freaking out argh

Why is it I'm more productive at night?

My mother and I have been in constant arguments ever since she got a recent job as an in home nurse. I'm put with the job of maintaining the house to a decent appearance. During the day, my mother will ask me to do extra chores here and there. I find myself quite irritated when asked to do so. I end up doing one or two of the chores, but never finishing every chore. I don't not do the chores out of spite, I just feel the need to "relax". When my mother comes home to grab something during the day, she is livid and terribly upset that not everything is done. However, at around 11 o' clock at night, I feel the need to immediately get things done. I run around the house, and make sure everything is in tip - top shape. I'm curious as to why this is. I have a great work ethic, as I anyone in town can tell you. I get straight A's in school, and absolutely love my mother to death. Help please?

I'm in my mid 16’s and I get an avg. 2–3 hours of sleep a day. Mostly because I'm up all night playing video games or watching YT videos or live streaming on Twitch. I have noticed the same thing as you though. People will tell me i need more sleep that I'm unhealthy and need at least 8 hrs of sleep a day. With my 2–3 hrs of sleep I've noticed that I am able to work much better than the people around me in school and at home. Occasionally I will go around online asking if it's healthy, the amount of sleep I get everyday. I found my answer on Quora. “Can the human body survive by just taking short naps throughout the day rather than a long continuous stretch of sleep once in a day?” Read this persons article it would help Understand sleep and how much you really need. Continuing on me, I've been taking power naps which consist of 20–30 min naps which are supposed to give you the energy you need to keep going about your day. There is one - two cycles i am switching to using. The first one being the Ubreman cycle. This cycle consists of 20–30 min naps every 4 hrs resulting in 6 naps a day. This cycle is highly efficient, and usually results in feeling healthy, feeling refreshed upon waking and extremely vivid dreams. I use this cycle on days where I don't have school or can fall asleep around those times where I don't have any negative consequence. The second cycle I use is the Everyman cycle. The cycle consists of one 3 hr nap and three 20 min naps. Or you could do one 1.5 hr nap and four-five 20 min naps. I would use this one for school as the longer period of a nap would be before school. After either of these cycles I feel fine and yes still healthy. You are far more productive because your body hasn’t gone into REM or rapid eye movement. I am sorry that this is so long, but I just wanted to explain the sleep effects.

As someone who, due to night work, has adopted nocturnal sleeping patterns time and time again, I'd say that it could be down to a number of factors. We're gonna need a little context, or an idea of the lifestyle you live to answer effectively. Are you up at sunrise?Has there been a recent event (or series of events) that have adjusted your body clock, so you feel more driven in the evenings?Do you struggle to sleep at night and feel groggy in the day?I for one, love the feeling of solitude that the evening brings. To focus without daytime distractions, to work effectively in a controlled time frame I.e. I've gotta get this done before the birds start singing! But I understand that there's moments in life where working the evening has its downsides. As you're asking this question on Quora, I can only assume that you're aware, or worried about the effect of only being productive at strange hours of the day.If you can replicate the 'evening' environment in the daytime and tackle anything that may have contributed to this habit, then you'll snap out of it in no time. Best of luck!

Why am I so unproductive and lazy?

Well, you made it through 4 - 4.5 years at UC Berkeley and you're maintaining a 3.0, so you must be doing something right. In my second year at UC Berkeley, I discovered that working at home was not a productive way to do anything. If you have a laptop or you can work away from the computer, go work in a cafe. When I was there, the cafe at Hearst and Shattuck had WiFi. They probably all do now. I found Strada to be a little too crowded most of the time. Alternately, the Main Stacks are open until 2 am Mon-Thu when classes are in session. Enter through Moffit. Some degree programs ( I was in Earth and Planetary Science) may allow you 24-hour access to the department building. That's a good study atmosphere. Treat school like a job and don't bring work home with you. That was my trick. But there was certainly plenty of time spent screwing around on the internet.

Early bird/night owl: Studies have shown time and time again that people are wired differently when it comes to circadian rhythms and generally when they perform best. Some people feel groggy in the morning and then get their boost as the day wears on. For some that might be night when there’s less distractions.Procrastination: a touchy topic among students and professionals, procrastination is actually healthy when structured appropriately. You may be passively gathering ideas for your work and the stress, tiredness, and urgency create the perfect storm to motivate you to see a project through.Exhaustion: when we are at our limits whether it be physically or emotionally, we become vulnerable. Our inhibitions that typically make us second guess or stop altogether go away. Once those are gone we can use this to trigger a flight/fight situation where we can have laser focus and accomplish things we never thought we could. All this being said, none of this is sustainable. It may give us opportunities to cheat some situations but for the most part we must ensure we keep our anxiety, stress and will power in check.
