Does the "education system" really "cater to girls?"?
Having come close to being a teacher, I know a little about how the educational system works, though I'd never swear to be an expert on it. That said, many school classes cater to visual learners, and to a lesser extent auditory learners. Most classes don't focus as much on those who learn by doing (the name for that style of learning escapes me at the moment). Boys are somewhat more likely to learn best by this style than girls if I remember correctly, so it could have an impact. But it's not a big difference. I don't really think the educational system caters to girls. I'm not sure where that comes from. The one thing I think factors into it is society in general these days seems much more focused on girls' problems than boys' problems, and school is no exception to this. Teachers were more likely to be sympathetic to girls than boys in my experience, especially younger teachers. It wasn't universal by any means but it was enough I noticed it when I was in school, and that was well before I really became that interested in all this gender stuff. I do think that has an impact. But it says more about society in general than the educational system. The educational system has a lot of problems, but I'm not sure this is one of them.

Are there special protections for women that are not available to men? Are there special protections available to men that are not available to women? Is this fair? Are some crimes, like sexual assault and domestic battery, treated differently by the CJ system depending on who the victim is and what their gender is?
